Mbella Moki Charles to Resign as Mayor of Buea

Mbella Moki Charles
The emblematic of Buea Council Mbella Moki Charles is expected to resign as the Mayor of Buea Council in the South West Region of Cameroon. Mbella Moki Charles according what we gathered will dump his position of mayor in order to run for the April 14, 2013 Senatorial elections in Cameroon. The only option since the law doesn’t permit accumulation of functions is for Mbella Moki Charles to resign, a source hinted. The mayor of Buea who on February 6, 2013 declared his candidature for senatorial election during a Press briefing with media practitioners has just a few weeks to be at the helm of the Buea Council. By March ending, Mbella Moki Charles should have submitted his resignation as contenders have just less than 10 days to submit their names. Yet many were shocked by the decision because after serving as mayor of Buea for closely 11 years today, Mbella Moki Charles would be remembered by Buea people for destroying many houses and business avenues on grounds that the 50th Anniversary of Reunification was to be celebrated in Buea. Yet it is now two year that the 50th Anniversary was announced for Buea, and nothing has taken place. Critical minds are of the opinion that the mayor of Buea for fear of sanction votes by the electoral wants to use the present opportunity to secure a place in the senate. But since Senators are only voted by councilors, seemingly he is better placed for the position since he is the South West Regional President of the Union of Cities and Councils of Cameroon which is an added advantage. After all, Mbella Moki Charles may likely not be the one to make a public pronouncement when President Biya shall announce the date for the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Reunification to take place in Buea. However, another source hinted that Mbella Moki may likely have difficulties if it is the Central Committee that decides. The fact that he earlier clashed with some CPDM bigwigs could jeopardize his chances of becoming senator, but since he is smart he may likely play the game as he did to obtain his first mandate as mayor. Will Mbella Moki spring another surprise? That is the multi-million FCFA question on lips of analysts.Whether appointed by Biya or voted by councilors Mbella Moki Charles is likely to quit Buea Council he peruses with his senatorial bid.
Since in every truly democratic nation, the leadership recognizes the people’s right to know. Every significant act of government is explained to the people, but in Cameroon, it is not the case. In Cameroon the public is taken for granted. In fact covenant breaking is a very grievous offence in the eyes of the Lord and also in those of man. President Biya announced that the golden Jubilee of Cameroon’s reunification would take place in Buea last year. We all know that if such a celebration was taking place last year it would mean Cameroon was celebration the 51 years of reunification and not 50. It is therefore very clear that when the moment and the date shall be announced again for this year, Cameroonians shall be commemorating 52nd Anniversary of Reunification and not the Golden Jubilee.
