The Executive President of Pan African Parliamentarians
Network on Climate Change-PAPNCC, Hon. Awudu Mbaya has left the country for
Kenya to attend the Second Pan African Summit on Climate Change. Hon. Awudu
Mbaya is leading a powerful delegation of 38 African MPs. According to a communiqué
issued on November 10, 2015, by PAPNCC, the summit will bring together Pan
African Parliament, the United Nations Environmental and the civil society and
other stakeholders to harmonize Africa’s position at the Paris Summit on
Climate Change. Furthermore, the Summit is also expected to fine-tune proposals
that will be tabled to African Heads of States as part of the on-going negotiations
on a new climate change binding agreement to replace the Kyoto Protocol.
The Conference which begins 11-14 of November shall be presided
over by Kenyan President and it is expected to put in place strategies for a protocol
for Africa at the Paris Summit come December 2015.
