The Cameroon GCE board has made public the 2017
Ordinary level results (general) though results of some schools and candidates
have been withheld. While some results have been withheld for suspected
examination malpractices, others have been held back for authentication. This
so after the GCE Advanced level and Technical GCE results were released. This
year, out of 80,212 candidates that registered, only 46, 532 candidates
sat for 4 or more subjects while a meager 11,770 candidates passed in 4 or more
subjects representing 25.29 as against 2016. It should be recalled that in 2016
academic year, 110,702 candidates registered and 102, 857 sat for 4 or more
subjects while 63,951 corresponding to 62.17%. This drop in the performances is visible everywhere.
Several schools and centres in Donga Mantung Division scored zero percent this
year.Though the Minister's release indicated that all the results were released, it came to passed that the GCE Board had to authenticate the results before publication. The most interesting thing is that in this year's GCE ordinary level student at GBHS Mendong in Yde passed in 21 subjects breaking the long outstanding record of 11 subjects. In same line, students of GHS Mbu warr in Donga Mantung have decried that the total number of registered candidates published by the Cameroon GCE Board doesnt reflect theirs.
