How You Can Detect a Fake Smartphone

his brief piece will guide lovers of smartphones against being cheated especially in this current age where counterfeit products are flooding the markets.

A major problem that many top phone manufacturers are encountering is the cloning of their brands. This trend continues despite the painstaking efforts to make cloning difficult.

Despite this, the counterfeiters are having a field day faking these brands and it has made it hard for users to differentiate between counterfeit and original phones. Jumia Travel, the leading online travel agency, shares tips for identifying a fake device.

Packaging

Manufacturers of counterfeit products are sometimes careless with packaging. Phone makers will always take care of the smallest details of design and packaging of their own goods. So, take a close look at the package, paying attention to the print quality ensuring consistency. In addition, ensure nothing should be loose inside.

Look at the wires and plugs

The quality of the wire is an important sign of a counterfeit product. If it is original, a plugged-in cable will sit firmly and evenly, while in a fake, you will see loose parts.

Check the user manual

The user manual is one of the easiest ways to identify a fake gadget. Every relevant information about the device must be there in the language of the country of purchase. If it’s written in some other language and you cannot read it, then it is a cloned brand.

Look at the fonts

All fonts and symbols on the gadgets must be similar, readable and regular. If this is not the case, it means the phone is fake or counterfeit.

Pay attention to the material

The material used for making a phone can either be high or low-quality. Popular brands don’t cut back on materials. The plastic covering the phone must be smooth, without any creases.

Manchester United's Bid for Alexis Sanchez Hits the Rock

Arsene Wenger has rejected Manchester City big money move for Arsenal forward, Sanchez who is reluctant to renew his contract.

Alexis Sanchez

English Premier League side Arsenal have rejected a £50 million bid from rivals Manchester City for Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez, who scored 24 Premier League goals for the Gunners last season, is out of contract next summer and has reportedly said he wants to play for City manager Pep Guardiola.

Arsenal have rebuffed all approaches for the 28-year-old and would like City’s Raheem Sterling as part of any deal before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

But Guardiola, who was in charge at Sanchez’s former club FC Barcelona, is understood to want the Chilean as a straight purchase.

England forward Sterling has featured in all three of City’s games so far this season.

However, the 22-year-old is not guaranteed a starting role at Etihad Stadium following the summer arrival of Bernardo Silva from Monaco.

Sanchez had joined Arsenal from FC Barcelona in 2014 for a fee of about £35 million and won the FA Cup for the second time last season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had said a few weeks ago that Sanchez would “respect” his decision and stay.

The Chilean made his first appearance of the season in the Gunners’ 0-4 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday, coming off for Alexandre Lacazette after 62 minutes.

2018 World Cup Qualifofier: Super Eagles Captain Captains Says Match with Cameroon is Do-or-Die

While speaking in an exclusive interview with SCORENigeria, Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, who is making a return to the squad, stated that victory against Cameroon in Uyo on Friday September 1, 2017, would go a long way in the team’s qualification for next year’s World Cup in Russia.
The Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state capital will  host the football match between the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions, and the Eagles will also travel to Yaounde for the reverse fixture on Monday.
Mikel, who admitted that they had a tough game against the African champions, expressed optimism that they would soar above the Lions on match day. “These three points will go a long way in our qualifying campaign. We have got a very good team.  We have got a very young team with a lot of quality.
“We are on top of the table on six points and we want to win. Cameroon also want to win, so it’s really going to be a do-or-die affair. We are looking forward to the game and we want to make sure we qualify and hopefully we will do that. We need to make sure we qualify first. There is a big task ahead of us”

Presidential 2019 in Nigerai: PDP Makes Major Move on Billionaire Mogul Dangote

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may have settled for Aliko Dangote as their presidential candidate with reports indicating that the party is said to have sent emissaries to woo the billionaire businessman.

File photo
Ahead of the 2019 general election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has started making overtures to billionaire business man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, to come and contest for the presidential election on its platform, DailyTimes exclusively reports.
Already, the opposition PDP has zoned the presidency slot for the 2019 election to the Northern part of the country, while the National Chairmanship slot of the party has been earmarked for the Southern part.
An impeccable insider source disclosed in Abuja that the party, in a determined efforts to win the 2019 election, has already sent emissary to the billionaire businessman from Kano, who is reputed as the wealthiest businessman in Africa.
It was learnt that the decision to reach out to Dangote with a view to wooing him to come and contest for the presidential election on the platform of the PDP, was part of the decisions reached by members of a think tank committee put together by the immediate past President of the country, Dr. Jonathan Goodluck.
The opposition PDP, which recently came out of its leadership crisis following the ruling of the Supreme Court that recognised Senator Ahmed Makarfi as its National Chairman, was said to have taken a lot of things into consideration before the decision to go and woo Alhaji Dangote for the 2019 mission.
The source said: “I can confidently tell you that the PDP has made overtures to Alhaji Aliko Dangote to come and fly the presidential flag of our party for the 2019 presidential election.
“So many things were taken into consideration before the party arrived at this decision. Alhaji Dangote has the clout, the pedigree, the name, the followership and above all the financial war chest to match any presidential candidate that the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) or any other party may be bringing forward in 2019”.
It was further gathered that Dangote allegedly spent personal money running into about N37 billion in 2015 to help in realising the presidential ambition of President Muhammadu Bihari, before and after he (Buhari) emerged at the presidential candidate of the APC then. It is still not clear if Buhari will be seeking a second term in office come 2019.
Further findings showed that Alhaji Dangote had equally made a lot on financial contributions to the emergence of other past presidents in the country.
Another source within the party who spoke to The Daily Times said: “If Dangote can make financial contributions to ensure the emergence of other past Presidents in the country in the past, don’t you think he will be willing and ready to spend any amount to realise his own presidential ambition if he accepts the overture from the PDP?
“This is one of the reasons why the PDP made the overtures to him (Dangote) and we sincerely hope and pray that he accepts it. If he does, the journey to the Aso Rock presidential villa for the PDP in 2019 would have been made less stressful and less thorny”, the source added.
When contacted, a source close to Dangote disclosed that his principal is not interested in politics, saying that the PDP should look elsewhere for its candidate.
The source, who sought anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the matter, insisted that the stance of the business mogul not to dabble into politics has not changed, saying that any attempt by any political party to woo him for 2019 presidency is a distraction.
He said: “The attempt to woo him will fail because Dangote is not interested in politics. He is a businessman to the core and what you just asked me to react to is a distraction.
“The PDP should go and look elsewhere for its candidate for 2019 as Dangote is committed to his core vision and desire to invest and create jobs to the people”.

Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The American Red Cross says Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has donated $1 million to the organization to help the thousands of people impacted by Tropical Storm Harvey.
"I'm just grateful I can do it. We have to take care of one another," the Virginia native, who now lives in Louisiana, said in a statement Monday.
"Thousands of people have had to be rescued, and we are in the beginning of a massive relief effort, providing safe shelter and comfort for those forced from their homes. The American Red Cross is on the ground now and will be there for weeks to come, working alongside our partners to coordinate response efforts," said Brad Kieserman, vice president of Disaster Services Operations and Logistics for the Red Cross.
Texas-born, pop music icon Beyonce has promised to assist as many Harvey victims as possible.
"My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help," she said in a statement to The Houston Chronicle. "I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor [Rudy Rasmus at St. John's in downtown Houston] to implement a plan to help as many as we can."
New Yorkers Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez donated $50,000 and are encouraging others to do the same.
"Please help by donating what you can! Link above... God bless Houston," Lopez captioned an Instagram video in which she, sitting on beau Rodriguez's lap, said: "Our hearts are just breaking for all the families that are displaced. It's just devastating and we just want to do our part to help."
"We're praying for you and God bless all of you," Rodriguez told "all the great families in distress down in Houston."

20 years after Death, Princess Diana Inspires Outreach by Sons

Princess Diana responds to reporters' questions after she and her then-husband Prince Charles toured the National Gallery of Art on November 10, 1985. Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Twenty years ago, the world mourned the sudden death of Princess Diana, a humanitarian, the one-time wife of the future king of Britain and the mother of another.
The princess of Wales, born Diana Frances Spencer, was 36 years old when she died along with her companion, Dodi Fayed, and their driver, Henri Paul, in a car crash in Paris on Aug. 31, 1997. Diana's bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones, was the only survivor.
An inquest in London in 2008 blamed the crash on negligence by Paul -- he was driving drunk -- and by the pursuing paparazzi, who were "racing" the Mercedes he was driving trying to obtain photographs of Diana and her rumored fiancee, Fayed.
Diana sustained severe injuries to her lungs and brain, and though doctors tried for 2 hours to save her, she died of internal bleeding. Her two young sons, 15-year-old Prince William, and 12-year-old Prince Harry, learned of their mother's death while vacationing with their father, Prince Charles, in Scotland.
Immediately, there was a global outpouring of grief, with flowers piled high at makeshift memorials to the princess at Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and even Central Park in New York City. And world leaders reacted, some traveling to Britain to attend her funeral.
UPI File Photo
Former President Bill Clinton said: "Hillary and I knew Princess Diana and we were very fond of her. We are profoundly saddened by this tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers tonight are with her family, friends and especially her children."
Diana's brother, Charles Spencer, lashed out at the paparazzi, saying his sister "always believed the press would kill her in the end."
"But not even I could imagine they would take such a direct hand in her death, as seems to be the case. It would appear that every proprietor and editor of every publication that has paid for intrusive and exploitative photographs of her, encouraging greedy and ruthless individuals to risk everything in pursuit of Diana's image, has blood on his hands today."
Six days after her death, Princess Diana was laid to rest as 2,000 mourners, including members of the British royal family, heads of state and celebrities gathered at Westminster Abbey for her funeral. Though the young princes put up a brave front walking behind their mother's coffin in the funeral procession, they shed tears during the iconic moment with pop singer Elton John performed a version of "Candle in the Wind" in tribute to the princess.
"Those inside the catheral say that as the singer sang the line 'Your candle burned out long before your legend ever will,' Harry buried his face in his hands and sobbed," a UPI reporter wrote at the time.

Diana left a legacy in the humanitarian efforts she pursued while alive. During the 1980s, she was one of the early advocates for people living with AIDS, publicly making physical contact with them even before it was known how the disease was spread.
"HIV does not make people dangerous to know. You can shake their hands and give them a hug. Heaven knows they need it. What's more, you can share their homes, their workplaces and their playgrounds and toys," she said in 1987.
She would later open Grandma's House, a home for young AIDS patients in Washington, D.C., and was a patron of the National AIDS Trust

PRESS STATEMENT – RE - Yaounde Divisional Officer Bans Press Event with Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh as Quest.

PRESS STATEMENT
 – RE - Yaounde Divisional Officer bans press event with Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh as guest.

By Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh
President, The Fomunyoh Foundation

Ta Nformi Dr.Christopher Fomunyoh
Yaounde 30 August, 2017-I have just been informed that a press event (CAFE POLITIQUE) organized by the association of journalist “Club des Journalistes Politiques" that was scheduled to hold in Yaounde on Wednesday 30th August, 2017, at noon has been canceled.
As has been highly publicized for the past three days, I was to be sole guest on this three hour program. I looked forward to exchanging views with Cameroonian and international journalists and the public in a healthy and substantive debate on issues of national and regional interest.
I consider the government's decision to ban this press event unfortunate and unacceptable, especially in the present circumstances when we need space for healthy and constructive conversations about various crises our country faces, and the way forward.
I am deeply saddened and extremely disappointed by this development. I impress on the competent authorities and officials at the highest level to reverse this decision and to instruct state employees to avoid actions that exacerbate unnecessarily, social and political tensions in the country.
I commend Cameroonian journalists for their efforts to advocate for and sustain platforms for public discourse and dialogue. I will continue to make myself available as citizens struggle with issues of free expression, freedom of the press and other liberties and citizen engagement.

Yaoundé, le 30 août 2017
Communique de presse du Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh
Président, The Fomunyoh Foundation

See How Much Mayweather Earned After Fight with McGregor

Following the historic fight Mayweather won yesterday, the amount he earned has been revealed.

Mayweather defeated McGregor in the epic fight

According to AOL, Floyd Mayweather, 40 is slated to earn a pretty penny - about $250 to $300 million dollars, $100 million of that just for showing up and another $150 million to 200 million from pay per view after winning his historic 50th victory.

Conor McGregor on the other hand is slated to rake in $30 million just for showing up plus pay per view earnings, giving him a total that is higher than all of his previous prize money combined.

Mayweather who is unbeaten also disclosed that a $400,000 dollar bet on himself to win by knockout in under nine and a half rounds had been refused by bookmakers on The Strip just hours before the Sin City fight heard its first bell.

“For the last month I didn’t do no sparring,” Mayweather said. “I wanted my hands to be 100 percent for the fight. I wanted my hands to be solid. My hands are real brittle, you know that.”

“I wanted my hands to be solid so when I came out here and I’m shooting hard shots, I was able to put the guy down,” he explained, admitting that he was “shocked” by McGregor’s ability to switch from mixed martial arts to boxing.

“That was the plan. Let him come out trying to kill me with big shots early on, and then beat him down the stretch. My father thought it would be six or seven. It took a little longer."

The two smiled home with huge cash to spend. While Mayweather will earn around 50 per cent of overall takings from the fight, McGregor’s purse was guaranteed at $30m (£23.3m), which will rise to around $75m once royalties and pay per view numbers are in.

What Every Woman Should Know Before She Gets Married

Although many women don't joke with the idea of marriage at all and are in some cases, in a haste to settle down, these are certain things they should take note of before tying the knot.

For women, some things can be learned over time, with a lot of experience. Others can be easily learned while some can be learned by simple observation. Marriage is one of those things that no matter how long a woman studies or observes it; there is always something new for her to learn.

When it comes to marriage, no woman knows it all but there are some things every woman should know before they get married. These things can also be applied during marriage as well.

Your husband doesn’t want another mother

Don’t go into marriage with the belief that you are your husband’s mother. He wants a partner, someone to be by his side supporting him and someone he can support too. You might be tempted to tell him what to do or nag him, but avoid that temptation.

A lasting marriage is made up of two forgiving people

Even after you marry the best man in the world, he will come with imperfections and faults, and you also come with imperfections and faults. Learn to move past hurts and forgive him for his shortcomings. Learning to forgive quickly is a necessary skill for a marriage that will last.

Passion actually never has to fade

Yes, there will be times when you feel gross and tired and that passion and romance is the last thing on your mind. But make the effort to keep the passion alive in your relationship because you and your marriage will be grateful in the long run.

Be aware of unrealistic expectations

They can be harmful to you and your husband’s lasting happiness. Forget all the unrealistic expectations you have about how your marriage should be a fairy tale. Marriage is hard work.

Respect your husband

Nothing will make your husband feel more honoured and loved like the gift of your respect. He won’t necessarily admit it, but he really needs it. But don’t forget that you need respect as much as you give. You are human too.

Don’t expect your husband to fulfil all your needs

Your husband is just one person who can’t be expected to be everything you need in your life. Balance is important in all things including the relationship with your husband. Maintain your friendships and family bonds even as you get married.

Be realistic about romance

Don’t get caught up in romantic movies and novels, they can distort your view on what real romance is. You should find out how your husband wants to be loved and give him that even as he loves you too.

Don’t compare your husband to anyone else

Comparison is just never a good idea, especially when it comes to your husband. Love and appreciate the man you have. The grass is not green on the other side in all cases. The grass is green where you water it.

There really is no smooth marriage

You and your husband may face totally different trials or victories than any other couple you may ever meet, and that’s perfectly okay. The important thing to remember is that you and your husband will face them together, hand in hand.

Understand that the world doesn’t revolve around you

This is not to say that you are a selfish or self-centred person to begin with, but marriage takes the whole selfless thing to another level. And at times, it can be a difficult but necessary lesson to learn. Being selfless is one of the ingredients of a happy marriage.

When things get tough, don’t give up

Unless it is abuse, infidelities or illegal activity, don’t look for reasons to give up on your marriage. But don’t let your husband get away with disrespecting you and the vows you took. Infidelity is a deal breaker. When hope is alive and well in a marriage, it helps it to thrive and grow no matter what is thrown at it.

Make your husband and marriage a priority

Remember at the end of the day who you come home to. Put him first, because he puts you first too and you are now his family. Don’t allow people walk all over your husband or disrespect your union. Remember to make your marriage a priority.

Find joy in the little things

You know that inside joke that you and your husband have that almost makes you pee your pants every time it’s mentioned? Or the way he kisses you goodnight right before you fall asleep? It’s in those little moments and all the rest that you can find joy and happiness in your marriage.

Kenya Bans Plastic Bags

A ban on plastic bags came into force, on Monday, in Kenya, and those found in violation of the ban could be given a maximum fine of 40,000 dollars or risk imprisonment of up to four years.
The East African nation joins more than 40 other countries that have banned, partly banned or taxed single use plastic bags, including China, France, Rwanda, and Italy.
Many bags drift into the ocean, strangling turtles, suffocating seabirds and filling the stomachs of dolphins and whales with waste until they die of starvation.
“If we continue like this, by 2050, we will have more plastic in the ocean than fish,” said Habib El-Habr, an expert on marine litter working with the UN Environment Programme in Kenya.
Plastic bags, which El-Habr says take between 500 to 1,000 years to break down, also enter the human food chain through fish and other animals.
In Nairobi’s slaughterhouses, some cows destined for human consumption had 20 bags removed from their stomachs.
This is something we didn’t get ten years ago but now its almost on a daily basis,” said county vet Mbuthi Kinyanjui as he watched men in bloodied white uniforms scoop sodden plastic bags from the stomachs of cow carcasses.
Kenya’s law allows police to go after anyone even carrying a plastic bag.
Judy Wakhungu, Kenya’s environment minister, said enforcement would initially be directed at manufacturers and suppliers.
“Ordinary wananchi will not be harmed,” she told Reuters, using a Kiswahili word for “common man”.
It took Kenya three attempts over ten years to finally pass the ban, and not everyone is a fan.
Samuel Matonda, spokesman for the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, said it would cost 60,000 jobs and force 176 manufacturers to close.
Kenya is a major exporter of plastic bags to the region.
“The knock-on effects will be very severe,” Matonda said.
“It will even affect the women who sell vegetables in the market, how will their customers carry their shopping home?”
Big Kenyan supermarket chains like France’s Carrefour and Nakumatt have already started offering customers cloth bags as alternatives.
