Cameroon Telecommunications - CAMTEL, the leading national telecom has confirmed its efforts to support the government of Cameroon in delivering modern, accessible and reliable services to both citizens and businesses in the country.
CAMTEL Deputy General Manager, Daniel Désiré Ollé has revealed that Camtel plans to introduce 5G technology as part of a broader network expansion aimed at improving service quality, increasing coverage from 40% to 80%.
He was speaking at the 14th edition of the Government Action Fair (SAGO), currently taking place at the Yaounde Conference Center under the theme "Public service and challenges of Cameroon's economic growth".
Mr Ollé said " Since 2015, CAMTEL has deployed 2G, 3G and 4G technologies at the same level with other operators. Today, we are moving further with 5G infrastructure already in place at the hardware level. All what is left now, is activating the software components once the national 5G strategy is officially adopted".
SAGO, the French acronym for the Government Action Fair which began last month on June 28 shall end July 5th.
It presented an opportunity for the leading telecommunications operator in Cameroon to lead a conference on the theme " CAMTEL: For a more Connected Cameroon". During discussions, the deputy manager Daniel Désiré Ollé highlights the company's strategic vision, one of which is the soon-to-be launch Blue Money, CAMTEL's mobile money solution.
