Nigerian Elections Updates: INEC Officials Arrested Over Electoral Offense Allegations

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Zone 10 Police Command in Sokoto disclosed that 6 suspects were arrested by police on allegations related to electoral offenses in Zamfara.
Those arrested include officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and party agents.

According to Hassan, the suspects were arrested on Saturday during elections in the Maradun Local Government.
He commended the people in the state for the relatively peaceful elections and ensured that the police in the zone would promote credible elections in accordance with the Electoral Act.
He stated that “So far so good, we have not recorded any political violence” and that “We will continue to provide a peaceful environment through effective security measures that will enable eligible electorate to exercise their civic responsibility.”
