Former INEC chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, on Monday, July 6, resumed at the Bayero University Kano (BUK).
The immediate past chairman of the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, on Monday, July 6, resumed
at the Bayero University Kano (BUK).
The former INEC boss was the Vice
Chancellor of the university until he got appointed as INEC chairman by
former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2010.
Jega who left the institution five years ago to INEC, completed his tenure at the electoral body last Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported
that Jega before going back to his office at the Department of
Political Science visited the office of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor
Abubakar Adamu Rasheed.
The Director of Public Affairs of the
institution, Mallam Ahmad Shehu said the VC accompanied the former INEC
boss to his office.
“Jega resumed today but he first went
to the VC’s office. The VC accompanied him to his office and he was
received by the Head of Department of Political Science with his
colleagues, “Shehu said.
According to findings, the BUK authorities had renovated Jega’s office ahead of his return.
Jega is now the fifth of former vice-chancellors of the university who are still within the institution’s environment.
