Douala Port Authority Ushers in a New Era of Maritime and Economic Renaissance

The Douala Port Authority (PAD) has once again demonstrated its catalytic role in Cameroon’s economic emergence with a succession of groundbreaking events.
Following the historic commissioning of two boats named after S.E.M Endeley and John Ngu Foncha.  PAD  has unveiled another bold stride in infrastructure development as  Prime Minister, Head of Government, Chief Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute laid the foundation stone for a state-of-the-art logistics base in Misole -Dibamba, a project poised to energize trade, industrial activity, and regional connectivity.
This multibillion FCFA initiative—conceived and matured by H.E. Shey Jones Yembe, esteemed Chairman of PAD’s Board and renowned engineer was first announced by President Paul Biya in 2011. Now in motion, the logistics base is projected to:
- ✅ Create 15,000 direct jobs
- ✅ Spur industrial diversification
- ✅ Anchor Cameroon’s place as a regional logistics leader
The momentum continues. On Friday, the PM will lay the foundation stone for a modern container terminal on the right flank of the Wouri River (Bonaberi), expanding PAD’s reach and boosting container capacity to 1 million TEUs by 2030. This terminal, made possible through a dynamic public-private partnership, is a testament to PAD’s bold vision and innovative financing model.

A Hub Reimagined: PAD’s Legacy and Future
PAD’s strategic undertakings align with Cameroon’s Master Plan for Port Development (2020–2050) and the aspirations for economic emergence through:
- Sustainable infrastructure
- Industrial transformation
-  Youth employment and empowerment
- Regional trade acceleration
These projects also reaffirm PAD’s status as the turbine engine of Cameroon’s maritime economy—a bold driver of inclusive prosperity and intercontinental relevance.
