Biya-Fru Ndi Secret Alliance Create More Fears than Cheers

Fru Ndi: SDF Chairman
 Fai Cassian Ndi
It is almost absolutely certain that the SDF will make its debut in the next government. Yet some militants of the SDF are very skeptical at the manner which party hierarchy has been handling some burning issues. Press Conference postponed just few minutes to the time, no submission from the SDF on the flawed senatorial polls are some of the issues SDF diehards have been pondering over. Allegations are to whether Fru Ndi is not being dictated what to do by someone through phone calls abound.
However, a Presidential insider hinted at weekend that SDF party hierarchy is very cautious of the secret deal. According to the hint, negotiations have been reached between President Paul Biya and his eternal challenger Ni John Fru Ndi through intermediaries. Hence there is a cordial understanding that now seems to prevail between the ruling party and the leading opposition party. If we talk about intermediaries, it means that Paul Biya and Fru Ndi have not met physically to talk on this issue but the Head of State has used senior government officials including the Director of the Civil Cabinet of the Presidency Republic Martin Belinga Eboutou to accomplish this new found romance with the SDF.
Things began to settle between the two parties when Ni John Fru Ndi who opposed the organization of Senate abruptly turned around to swallow his own words by announcing that the SDF party would take part. That decision shocked many people both in the SDF and outside. Seemingly Fru Ndi understood that by refusing to participate in the Senatorial elections would have been another political blunder.
Political analysts wondered loudly whether Ni John Fru Ndi has thus realized that every time the party refuses to participate in any elections, it still benefits the CPDM and or other political parties.  But as days unfolded, observers of the Cameroonian political microcosm started discovering that there was something happening behind the scene between the CPDM and the SDF. Even though SDF chieftain disclosed that his party could only participate in the senatorial elections after he Fru Ndi) must have agreed with Biya, many never took him serious. Speculations were even rife at that before Paul Biya left for Paris, he was instructed by French President Francios Holland to meet and discuss with the leading opposition (SDF). Even when Fru Ndi finally met Belinga Eboutou, nothing filtered from the encounter.
When the national president of the ruling party, Paul Biya, asked the Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo, also secretary of communication of the party to go and announce in the media (CRTV) that CPDM councilors in the West region should vote for SDF senatorial list, the truth about President Biya’s new found romance with the SDF became visibly clear. In other words, he (Biya) barred the way for Adamu Ndam Njoya’s CDU. This was a serious blow to Ndam Njoya, Mayor Fumban. Even with the muscular intervention of Fotso Victor, CPDM councilors in the West region respected the instruction. Paul Biya rescued his friend (Fru Ndi) from the shame and humiliation. Biya plan as we gathered is to solidify his links with the Grass-field (Graffi of North West and West Regions) to silence the Grand North, especially the pro-Marafa.
The most interesting thing is that in politics things do not happen in such a simple way.
SDF in Government
Information filtering into our office indicates that the SDF is proposing as preconditions to be of the next government, the party must be assigned five ministries. According to what we gathered the ministries the SDF is requesting are: Water and Energy, Basic Education, Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Ministry of Territorial Administration. Yet Paul Biya is peddling on offering instead the Ministry of Social Affairs, Employment and Vocational Training, Women’s Empowerment and the Family, ministers of Special Duties..
And what is happening even within the SDF is that party executives who want to accept any post in government are quite numerous, at least more than before. Another confidential source has hinted that the issue of geopolitical balance is also raising dusk in Fru Ndi’s party as everyone want to be appointed. Outside the Northwest and West regions which is President Biya’s interest, the SDF we gathered contemplating proposing some of its militant from Adamawa, Littoral and East and why not the South and Southwest to respect geopolitical balance. So as not to appear as a regional but a national party, the Chairman will not enter the government as Bello Bouba Maïgari did but will focus his top lieutenants in the Shadow Cabinet (parallel government - the opposition) Nec (the Politburo), giving it true balance. The situation is difficult for the Chairman as he would have had enough of ministerial positions in the center region for example, which is one of the strongholds of the CPDM. Fru Ndi we gathered will be rewarded with an appointment into the senate. Having managed to temper the heat momentarily, the political ambitions of the North, Paul Biya is now turning to the Great West ( Northwest and West), the Grass Field. It should be noted that the intentions of Paul Biya are not clear; it is to get rid of the North that the Head of State is looking for a new wife that is the Great West. This is an unfaithful husband, so be careful! The Far North has learned the hard way
The reality of the deal which FruNdi struck with Eboutou Belinga is becoming known to the public after a lot of speculations by political analysts. As predicted, The Eye is aware that both SDF and CPDM relied on party discipline reasons why from the beginning the alleged deal between the CPDM and SDF was a misery. It is now overt why SDF had to contest even in areas that it has no councilors, this is so because as hinted part of the deal was for some lists to be disqualified. The CPDM is out in the West without a voted senator on flimsy excuses that are best known only to Jean Nkwete. An authoritative voice at the Central Committee of the CPDM hinted us that the ongoing political maneuvers between the CPDM and the SDF are part of the secret deal imposed on the Biya regime by the French. Yet pundits have described the Biya-Fru Ndi alliance as unholy given that no one knows the exact contain of the deal. The greatest casualties of this unholy alliance are Ndam Njoya and Bello Bouba Maigari.
With the SDF picking seven seats each in the West and Adamawa regions, the CDU of Ndam Njoya has been reduced to its Noun Division while Belo Bouba’s NUDP that has always claimed to lord over the Northern Region including Adamawa has been reduced to naught.
It is even alleged that six SDF militants have been tipped to be appointed into the senate. By implication, Fru Ndi will be voted 2nd Vice President of the senate. Besides, the SDF will then enter government and Belo Bouba’s NUDP will be flushed out. This will therefore mark the end of the NUDP-CPDM alliance. A school of thought holds that President Biya is determined to crush pro-Marafa in the Northern Region. While one could argue that the Fru Ndi-Biya (Belinga Eboutou) secret deal is cosmically linked, as in the adage “What goes around comes around”, the far more nuanced truth is that analysts are wondering the reasons for the SDF to accept to be ridicule at its fief (when Fru Ndi knew that the senatorial elections are a masquerade of the rigged 2007 municipal and legislative elections). In fact it is perhaps even more disheartening when we realize that the secret deal is still a misery but perhaps that is also the silver lining. We may not be able to decipher whether Fru Ndi has been cheated or not. Yet the fact that the SDF party could only emerge after preliminary votes count in the West and Adamawa regions is indicative.
However, a Presidential insider also revealed that after the proclamation of the official results, President Biya will carryout a major cabinet shake-up which will usher into government some SDF militants. Harping on the geopolitical balance, The Eye gathered that Prime Minister Yang Philemon will lose his position to someone from the Adamawa or the West Region if Achidi Achu picks the position of Senate President. Public opinion holds that the relationship between Fru Ndi and Biya needs a serious reassesment.

What if Supreme Court Declares CPDM List Winner in NW

The probability that this deal could end up as a scam is relatively high. This is so because it would be shameful if SDF chieftain accepts to be appointed as senator. The world knows that it is the SDF which is the leading opposition political party in Cameroon. Not even those who struck an alliance with Biya like Belo Bouba MAIGARI, Dakole and or Issa Tchiroma Bakary to be part of his government. When Fru cried fault over the anticipation of senatorial elections, the Biya regime caught cold. Yet after threats of matchets and boycott, Fru Ndi swallowed his words and declared during a rally in Ndu that he will run for the senate. It was out of the ordinary. At the beginning allegations were rife at that the list for the North West region would be disqualified for Fru Ndi’s candidature to sail through but it was instead the CPDM lists for West and Adamawa regions that were rejected. The Eye is aware that when it came out from ELECAM that the list for North West has been retained, SDF hierarchy became jittery and nervous. The secret however of the gentleman agreement remains between Paul Biya (Belinga Eboutou) and Fru Ndi. Yet speculations are rife at that if Fru Ndi loses and calls on militants to sharpen their matches, he would be given a deaf ear. As such, SDF militants in the West and Adamawa who are the supposed winners may likely take decamp from the party given that their chances will be frustrated. It is this unknown that raises fears among militants of the SDF. Yet, Ni John Fru Ndi told Cameroonians that he would never appear in court to defend any file on election rigging and he kept his words. Those who were waiting to see chairman in court have been beaten to their bornes..........

Fru Ndi & Proponed Press Briefing
The man in the street has been wondering what is happening to the SDF when after an election like senatorial, Fru Ndi has not made a public statement. The concealed press conferences continue to create fears given that the deal may kill SDF voice.

Former SONARA GM Charles Metouck Slammed 9 Years for Forgery

 By Fai Cassian Ndi
Former General Manager of SONARA, Charles Metouck has been slammed a nine-years jail term for forgery. The judgment was handed down yesterday, April 24, 2013 after the court found him guilty of forgery. He has been fined to pay FCFA 2 million and also banished from holding any public office for 9 years. It has taken 3 months for the court to pass it final judgment. The lawyers we gathered described the judgment as shocking and promised to appeal.
It should be recalled that he was arrested on February 18, and charged with seven
counts including the use of a fake document to gain access into SONARA GM‘s office, signing a document for payment after official notice of his replacement, signing a document permitting the payment of a bill to one of SONARA’s contractors, GREMCORE, destruction of documents belonging to SONARA, retention of keys of SONARA GM’s office and retention of the official batch of SONARA GM which ought to have been remitted after handing over on February 15, 2013.
Charles Metouck was charged alongside the Litigation Officer of SONARA, Jean Jules Ediguele Ediguele. Five other aides who were also arrested and detained were granted bail by the State Counsel and are now serving as witnesses. Charles Metouck however pleaded not guilty.
It should be recalled that Charles Metouck was replaced as the General Manager of SONARA on 15 February following instructions from the Head of State, President Paul Biya. His successor, Ibrahim Talba Malla, was immediately installed by the Minister of Water and Energy, Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna after an emergency board meeting held in Limbe.

Innovative small-scale farming boosts food security and forest conservation in Cameroon Report Says

Press release - April 19, 2013
Yaounde, 19 April 2013 – Community-based farming in South West Cameroon could increase food security while protecting the region’s rich forests, according to a report released today by ACDIC (Association Citoyenne pour la Defense des Interêts Collectifs), commissioned by Greenpeace Africa. Agriculture systems and food security in Toko, Mundemba, and Nguti, in South-West Cameroon, assess how small-scale farming can offer a responsible development path, in contrast to a proposed industrial palm oil plantation in the region, which threatens local livelihoods and the environment.
This report follows a joint Greenpeace-ACDIC workshop which was held in the town of Kumba on April 16, to engage with communities and local authorities on food security, land rights and forest protection. The workshop, which was attended by approximately 90  people, identified technical support for farmers, access to land and producing food locally for local consumption as some of the key factors in achieving food security and protection of biodiversity.
“All too often, we are told that there is only one way for Cameroon to develop: to sign over land to large-scale industry projects,” says Irene Wabiwa, Forest Campaigner for Greenpeace Africa. “This report is important because it provides guidance towards a genuine alternative, which meets economic, social and environmental objectives in the best interests of the Cameroonian people.”
The report describes how cacao yields in the South West, which provides 70% of Cameroon’s cacao production, can be improved through training, better organization and market access. Cacao is usually grown in the shade of trees which supply the farmers with additional products like fruit and vegetables, while maintaining the forest canopy.
Ecological farming offers a positive and viable alternative to the 73,000 hectare palm oil project proposed by US-based corporation Herakles Farms, which would jeopardize the livelihoods of more than 14,000 people who currently live and farm in the project area. These communities are dependent on the forests for food, building materials and medicine. Fearful of losing their lands and livelihoods, some local people have protested against the project, and have faced intimidation and arrest as a result.
These fears are based on the impact of previous agro-industrial development by CDC, Palmol, Delmonte and CTE, which resulted in large amounts of land coming under the control of corporations, and restrictions on community access to infrastructure. This has driven up local food prices, by reducing the amount of farming land available, and increased the cost of housing, transportation and other basic commodities as labourers are brought into the area to work.
Greenpeace is campaigning for the palm oil industry and investors to implement a transparent ‘Zero Deforestation Policy’, which respects the rights and livelihoods of local communities and ensures the protection of natural forest.
“Herakles should respect the land rights of these communities, who have not been properly consulted on the plantation,” says Irene Wabiwa, Forest Campaigner for Greenpeace Africa. “Greenpeace supports the call by Cameroonian NGOs for a moratorium on the allocation of new agro-industrial concessions, until clear land use planning, which takes into account existing land rights and adequate support for community-based farming, is implemented.”
Notes to the Editor
  1. Greenpeace Africa’s Zero Deforestation policy is no direct human-induced conversion of forest to non-forests. This does not apply to small-scale low intensity subsistence conversion.
  1. Ecological Farming ensures healthy farming and healthy food for today and tomorrow, by protecting soil, water and climate, promotes biodiversity, and does not contaminate the environment with chemical inputs or genetic engineering.

Two Arrested for Life Threats on CamCCUL President

 By Asta Barka
Shey Nfor Musa
Two drivers, notably the chief driver of the Cameroon Cooperative Credit Union League-CamCCUL and the driver of Ntarinkon Cooperative Credit Union LTD are helping investigators in Bamenda to unmask the faces behind the threats against CamCCUL President. Classified sources say Nche Terrence (driver with Ntarinkon Credit Union) and Chi Michael (chief driver at CamCCUL) are in police custody for disseminating tracts threatening the life of Shey Nfor Musa, CamCCUL President. An authoritative voice hinted this reporter that the tract circulated at CamCCUL office insinuated the workers to the most admired microfinance structure to eliminate their boss and that he has sacked many workers and they could likely be the next victims.  Accordingly The Eye gathered that after thorough investigation, ChI Michael and Nche Terrence were napped as those who circulated the tracts. Allegations are rife at that the two drivers were assigned to carryout the task yet police are investigating to unmask the real people behind the incident. It is aired that it is thanks to the security camera that the two drivers were unmasked. Nche Terrence and Chi Michael were picked up by police on April 11, 2013. The judicial police in Bamenda is currently investigating the matter and allegations abound that some gurus could be picked up any moment in connection to the life threats on CamCCUL President. It is alleged that the tracts left Ntarinkon after a meeting was held and according to what we gathered, the family of the drivers have vowed to reveal the names of the people behind the terrible act. At the time of writing this story, police sources indicate that a certain Cho Gerard also arrested. It is aired Nche Terrence the driver of Ntarinkon revealed his name as the person who handed the tracts to him. Yet classified sources say Cho Gerard and Nche Terrence have been moved to the Bamenda Prison where they are awaiting trial. Besides, allegations are rife at that the faces behind the mask have promised Cho Gerard a lumpsum amount of 14 million FCFA to shoot his mouth. However, a hint further amplifies that some key personalities are already under surveillance for masterminding the assassination attempt. Police in Bamenda are already tracking them, a source hinted.

Flawed Senatorial Polls: SDF Barred from Campaigning

By Teche Nyamusa (SDF Parliamentary Aspirant for Mbengwi)
Fraud, elections rigging are CPDM trademark considering her past! We (SDF) complained of the irregularities before Election Day to polls monitoring body, ELECAM.
The 14th April, 2013 Senatorial elections in North West Region of Cameroon witnessed unprecedented and open absurd rigging – blocking of the SDF party from campaigning to CPDM councillors. Our complaint to ELECAM failed on deaf ears.
The CPDM party and candidates had easy access to SDF municipal councilors but theirs (CPDM Councilors) were quarantined and bribe
These otherwise important grassroots politicians have hitherto been treated as paupers. In governments, for example Nigeria, where local government is well developed, they are paid a good monthly salary. Curiously in Cameroon the CPDM government makes councillors work stipend-free. However for the purpose of the April 14th Senatorial poll there were bribed each with about five hundred thousand francs (FCFA 500.000) by CPDM party candidates – municipal councilors now are the only members of the Electoral College for the senatorial in Cameroon. The 1996 constitution stipulates that senators have as electoral college both municipal councilors and regional councilors but true to Biya’s queer attitude of governance, regional councilors will be put in place progressively even if it takes 50 years !

The North West Region had two political parties – SDF and CPDM contesting the 2013 Senatorial seats. A meager sum of FCFA 5 million was given to each party per Region for campaigns. This amount could hardly be enough for campaign posters, transportation to and fro the villages of the various divisions and subdivisions. However, for the ruling CPDM party, no one doubts her illogical privileged position – the party is indistinguishable from the government. As such she has unreserved access to the state treasury - a sum of money capable of beating the councilors’ rational reasoning is said to have been withdrawn for their bribe. This conscience influencing sums believed to be withdrawn by CPDM solo without concern of constituted authorities which include her adversary, SDF tantamount to rigging and imminent trouble. The outcome of such manipulated polls? – Well Cameroonians await the official results from the Supreme Court who is given the right to proclaim them. Definitely, however the SDF in particular and Cameroonians in general will not accept such open cheating in favour of CPDM Senatorial list in North West. Caging of councilors so that SDF has no people to campaign to is rigging. National Identity Cards were purportedly confiscated from some electors for fear of their being used for their proxy votes or other reasons.
On another front, Cameroonians are calling on the country’s lawyers and legal minds as well as others to be part of the democratization process of the nation. Lawyers they maintained should challenge, by litigations, any irregularity in governance - elections, business … as obtained in other countries. Meanwhile the barefaced cheating at North West Senatorial elections is an issue that is difficult to be pardoned!

April 14, Senatorial: After Crushing Fru Ndi, Achidi Achu Eyes Senate Presidency

By Fai Cassian Ndi
With CPDM North haven crushed the SDF in the preliminary votes count, the real business lays in the hands of the Supreme Court which began validating the votes today afternoon. The North West CPDM list headed by Achidi Achu is leading with a 51.3% as against 48.66% for the SDF of Ni John Fru Ndi. Yet, speculations are high at that if the North West results are validated, nothing would stop Achidi Achu from being elected President of the senate. It should be recalled that on March 24, 2013 during the 28th anniversary of the CPDM, Simon Achidi Achu vowed that he would crush Fru Ndi to go to senate as was the case in 1988. Recalling the 1988 legislative elections which the Khaki list won the Green, Achi reminded CPDM militants that he would win Fru Ndi in any election. Yet,  Achidi Achu was beaten by Fru Ndi in Mezam but vote counts in the region placed the CPDM on the lead. In Mezam, 222 councilors were expected to go to the polls last Sunday and at the end of the day, 221 casted their votes. 178 voted SDF while 40 voted CPDM with one void ballot casted by a Bawock woman who instead dashed the waste basket with her vote.  With the stage set for the CPDM to carry the day, analysts are of the opinion that Achidi Achu could be elected senate President. A school of thought holds that Biya has been longing for someone who could execute his succession plan. It is no longer news that with the senate in place, succession will move from the National Assembly Speaker to Senate President.  The Eye gathered from a Presidential insider that President Biya has three options to make between Jean Nkwete, Hamadjodi or Achidi Achu. Hamadjodi according to the hint is well-placed given that he sacrificed Adamawa for the SDF and Jean Nkwete too. Yet, according to the hint if that position is given to the West, those of Adamawa will be angered reasons why Achidi Achu has been preferred. By implication, the position of Prime Minister will have to quit the North West to either Adamawa or West Region for geopolitical reasons.  Achidi Achu’s election as Senate President by mid-May if it those happen would be tantamount to Philemon Yang leaving the post of Prime Minister. Northwesterneres have been contemplating what Philemon Yang will show as legacies of his being at the Star Building for good four years.

Senatorial Results: Fako CPDM Bubbles Over 15 Votes as Chief Inoni Factor Explodes

 By Regin Muchop
Former Prime Minister Chief Thomas Inoni Ephraim
The CPDM in Fako is reported in a strange mode following preliminary votes count as the Chief Inoni factor surface in poll results. Classified sources hinted that 15 councilors voted SDF list while two others casted theirs in the waste basket. This scenario according to what we gathered is tearing the CPDM apart. Accordingly, everyone is suspicious of the other. A school of thought holds that Chief Inoni Ephraim’s loyalists for once had the opportunity to express their grievances through the ballot. Supporters of the former Prime Minister we were hinted decided to pay the CPDM in their own game of the mastiff. Not withstanding the threats of "treason" that had been preached against in Fako ahead voting was fruitless. An authoritative voice hinted that Chief Inoni’s supporters are bent on giving the CPDM a bitter lesson. “It is just the beginning because the worst is still to come”, one young man who preferred not to be named remarked during preliminary vote counts in Limbe. He whispered that the CPDM will pick their shock in the upcoming municipal and legislative elections. It is aired in that the CPDM Councilors in Fako who still decided to respect the voices of their consciences and not along party lines are being hunted. Yet the hunt we gathered will yield no fruit because majority of the councilors would have done the same if not of the threats and the fact that the councils were distributed in identical polls.
Another source hinted that even though two people were taken from Fako to remedy the situation, the plan has flopped woefully. Mayors Matute Daniel and Mbella Moki Charles were picked for CPDM senatorial list contrary to public opinion that Manyu or Meme would have been preferred due to their sizes. It is even alleged that if the Supreme Court decides to validate 60+1 as hinted, the SDF will pick majority of majority of the seats in the South West Region. It is alleged that if President Biya summons the Electoral College for municipal and legislative elections for July 7, as predicted the coming into play of Ayah Paul’s People Action Party, the CPDM will be escorted out of the region. With this cacophony taking the central stage in the South West, PAP will likely sweep Manyu and Lebialem Divisions while the SDF will dictate it supremacy in Ndian, Meme and Fako Divisions. Kupe Muaneguba (of the Ngole Ngwesse’s and Ngolle Ngolle) would have to work hard to have a share of the votes. SDF and PAP will explore the divisive tendency in the Division to pick Nguti, Bangem or Tombel council.

Senatorial Challenges: For 12 Votes, SDF Militants want Hon. Njong Fired!

By Fai Cassian
Hon. Njong: Scape-goated by councilors
The SDF national chairman may likely become a senator thanks to his friend Paul Biya or only if the Supreme Court decides to validate 60+1 as absolute majority. According to what we gathered the prohibition by the National Communication Council for poll trends to be published by the media is not for nothing. Sources say the Supreme Court would trim-line the results as such that only 60.1% will be considered as absolute majority as against 50.1 percent. Should 60.1% be validated as absolute majority then the CPDM and the SDF will share the seats in the Northwest and South West Regions given the narrow difference of votes. Fru Ndi and Achidi Achu would both be senators.
Yet diehard SDF militants are calling on the regional chairman Hon Njong Evaristus to resign. This is so because the 12 votes that the CPDM picked in Boyo are creating a lot of problems. It is alleged that the 12 votes were from Njinikom, Hon Njong’s own district. The SDF won in Boyo but yet 12 SDF councilors voted CPDM list. Thus Njong's constituency gave the CPDM victory in the North West Region.
The entire North West knows that it is the SDF which is the leading opposition political party in Cameroon and as Regional chairman; Hon Njong has no other option than to resign due to the fact that 12 SDF councilors voted for the CPDM in Boyo. When SDF militants continue to get echoes how in places like Adamawa where the party had not even a single council, the part won, they all want him to quit the position of chairman.
A school of thought holds that SDF councilors voted CPDM to sanction Njong while another school of thought holds that it was to sanction Fru Ndi. It is strange. At the beginning allegations were rife that the North West CPDM list would be disqualified for Fru Ndi’s candidature to sail through but it was instead the CPDM lists for West and Adamawa regions that were rejected. The Eye is aware that when it came out from ELECAM that the list for North West has been retained, SDF hierarchy became jittery and nervous. The secret however of the gentleman agreement remains between Paul Biya (Belinga Eboutou) and Fru Ndi. Yet speculations are rife at that if Fru Ndi loses and calls on militants to sharpen their matches, he would be given a deaf ear
This is so because a well-placed source at Elections Cameroon has hinted that the tentative results from the North West Region have not been favourable for Ni John Fru Ndi. According to the hint, the SDF has been crushed in Donga Mantung, Bui, Ngoketunjia, Menchum and Momo. While waiting for the Supreme Court to proclaim the final results, the hint further indicates that the chips are down for the SDF.
It is even alleged that some SDF councilors in Bui, Donga Mantung, Boyo, Mezam and Momo voted against SDF national chairman’s list. In Mezam, even though SDF chieftain crushed Hon. Achidi Achu with a 178 votes against 42, analysts say one SDF councilor voted for the CPDM when judged from the number of councilors each party presented at the polls.
In Donga Mantung Division, the CPDM white-washed the SDF obtaining 88 votes as against 72 votes while in Bui Division, the CPDM carried the day with 210 votes as against 71 for the SDF. In Boyo, the CPDM which was going into the elections only with 22 councilors emerged with 34 votes as against 73 for the SDF. Even though the SDF won, 12 SDF councilors voted against their own national chairman’s list. Trends from Momo indicates that the CPDM carried the day with 78 votes as against 48 for SDF while in Menchum, all the 97 councilors voted in favour of the CPDM and the SDF got 0 vote. Echoes from Ngoketunjia also indicate that the CPDM matched over the SDF with 59 votes against 34.
However, the fact is that while waiting for the Supreme Court to validate the results, the CPDM is already celebrating its victory in the region as sources from Ntarikon indicates that there is silence and disbelief. To sum it all, the CPDM in the North West will hence be looking up to the Supreme Court to either declare them winner with 488 votes as against 475 for SDF or cancel it. It should be recalled that in some areas, the counting of votes started as early as 3pm in violation of the law. This analysts say, could lead to the disqualification of the results given that only Donga Mantung and Mezam respected that law. Fru Ndi relied on Hon Njong yet he failed woefully in his duties as regional chairman.
Allegations are rife at that Hon Njong's supporters voted against the SDF for fear that if Prof. Nkwi goes to the senate it would be the end of Njong's reign. More so, public opinion in Belo is also aghast that Njong and Prof. Nkwi all come from the same locality. Sources close to Ntarinkon hinted The Eye that even Ni John Fru Ndi is very disappointed with what transpired at Fundong. The 12 votes we gathered is what shank the SDF senatorial list.
Apart, the Mayor of Nkum is also on the firing line as his councilors are said to have voted the CPDM list.
