No One Will Get Away With Corruption - President Buhari Promises Tough Time

President Buhari called for the continued support of Nigerians as the present administration was determined to correct the wrongs of the past.

President Buhari has reassured Nigerians that no amount of pressure will make him relent of the war against corruption in the country.
The president made this known to a group of Nigerians, who marched to the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday, August 17, to pledge their full support for his administration’s anti-corruption campaign.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari promised a relentless prosecution of the war against corruption with due regards for the rule of law.
He said that all persons charged with stealing the nation’s resources would have their day in court and that upon conviction, their ill-gotten wealth would be seized and returned to government coffers.

"I believe it is time for Nigeria to change course. That is why I sought election as President and got elected.
"As President, I am determined that Nigeria must move away from a course of endemic corruption that was leading us to perdition.
"There can be no question of our wilfully allowing anyone to get away with corruption.
"No matter the pressure and entreaties, the anti-corruption war will continue and all accused persons will have their day in court," the president said.

Welcoming the support of the group known as Nigerians March Against Corruption, President Buhari also reaffirmed his commitment in curbing insecurity in the country and boosting employment opportunities for Nigerians, especially the youths.
He called for the continued support and solidarity of Nigerians as the present administration was determined to correct the wrongs of the past.
The group, led by Aisha Yesufu had condemned recent statements by some individuals against the president’s anti-corruption campaign. It assured Muhammadu Buhari that the vast majority of ordinary Nigerians fully supported his ongoing efforts to curb corruption.
The group also urged him not to be deterred by the antics of those who did not share his laudable vision of a fairer, more equitable, corruption-free and progressive nation.

All the Truth About Boko Haram - Mama of the Islamic Insurgents, Aisha Kalil Opens Up

A very close confidant of Boko Haram soldiers, Barrister Aisha Kalil Wakkil, has revealed that she knew some of the insurgents right from when they were circumcised.

In a recent exclusive interview with Daily Trust, on Sunday, August 16, Barrister Aisha Kalil Wakkil, a human rights activist with the National Human Rights Commission, who claims to be a very close confidant of Boko Haram fighters, has said she knew some of Nigeria's Boko Haram insurgents right from when they were circumcised.

Wakkil, who has been peacemaking between the Jama’atu Ahlil Sunnah (Boko Haram) and the federal government for over five years spoke on a number of issues. According to her, the insurgents were very wonderful children and most of them lived in her house as it was open to all the children in that area.

“That was how I got to know most of them. Then they were not Boko Haram and Jama’atu ah-lil Sunnah members. It is surprising how these children turned out to be what they are now. I keep on saying there is certainly no smoke without fire.
"Something must have triggered those innocent-looking children to grow up behaving the way they are behaving now. You needed to see them growing up. Sometimes when I start talking about them, I shed tears. Those children prayed, and still pray a lot. I have a mosque in the house and they would always go in and pray.”

She narrated how she started noticing changes in them. How they would go out in the morning and return in the evening and during the fasting period, they would not return until around 11 or 12 midnight. They also started attending Muhammad Yusuf’s lectures to listen to his preaching.

“I didn’t observe anything strange about the teaching. Soon, the children began to be conscious of themselves. It was then that the rumour started that they were planning a war. When I heard of it, I went straight to Muhammad Yusuf because I had been very close to him.

"When I realized that Muhammad Yusuf was frequently being arrested, detained and released, I went to Baba Fugu and asked him why his son-in-law was always being detained? But I learnt he was always preaching things government didn’t like and insulting them,” she said.

The lawyer explained that after about a year or two, the rumours started again that they were planning to fight, saying:

“Those boys in my house suddenly disappeared for about a month; I did not set my eyes on them. I was tensed up and started asking people where they were, but nobody could tell me. Eventually when they returned, one of them told me he had something to tell me. He said, ‘Mama we went for training. Mama, I swear, our guns have already arrived in Maiduguri and that included AK47s. I then asked him where they trained and he respectfully replied, “Mama, I will not tell you this one.”

Wakkil had called Yusuf, who confirmed that they were planning to start a war and there was nothing that could be done to stop them, adding that the war would engulf everybody. That was how the insurgents began causing havoc. The boys in her house left and in a short while became commanders in the Boko Haram group.

She stated that she had visited the insurgents several times at different locations in the bush and she used to take food and drugs to them, which were their major requirements. Asked if she had ever told the insurgents to accept an amnesty, she replied:

“Yes, I have been doing that right from day one. In the beginning, they were telling me that, ‘Mama, we don’t like this thing that is happening to us. We are sure something is wrong somewhere. If government can call us and ask us, we shall tell them everything. Let government dialogue with us and tell us how to stop all these things and we will stop.
"But as time went on, they started talking negative of government. They were saying government was no more doing this and that. One of them told me, ‘Mama, the ocean we are swimming in is very deep. This thing has graduated from the Jama’atul Ahlil Sunnah into something else. The big men in Nigeria know what I am saying. Such people will not allow peace to emerge because they have their interests.”

On whether the insurgents would accept an amnesty, she said:

“Let me ask you this question; are they not human beings? If they are human beings like you and I, why won’t they accept the offer of amnesty? This administration is willing to dialogue with them. I am sure the president would like to ask them what happened and I am sure the children will be willing to say it.
"I was with them recently and they were asking me if the society will be willing to forgive them. I said why not if they will drop their arms and become good boys. If Nigeria and Nigerians can accommodate the OPC in the West, MASSOB in the East and the Niger Delta militants, why won’t they accommodate them?”
When asked if Shekau was really dead, she replied: “I am sorry, I won’t answer that question. I do not want to discuss that issue.”

Differentiating between the leadership of Yusuf and Shekau, she said Yusuf was cool-headed, adding:

“But you should also know that they are not responsible for all the killings. Some of the killings are politically motivated while others may be for economic reasons. When finally there is peace and the boys come into the open, Nigerians will hear from them. They will tell the world who and who were sending them to do what.”

Fru Ndi Leads Protest March Against Environmental Terrorism in Bamenda

When Hon. Awudu Mbaya submitted a Private Member’s Bill in Parliament, the CPDM foolish majority in Parliament did what they could for it to be thrown out at the last minute. The Bill was intended to protect water catchment areas, watersheds and wetlands. This is Bill was also intended to protect these areas from human activities as well as mitigate the phenomenon of climate change.

Ni John Fru Ndi, SDF chieftain took Bamenda population aback when he personally led a protest against land reclamation at Mile 4, Bamenda III council area. Councilors of the Bamenda II and III joined in the protest to express their disgust over what they described as environmental terror. Bamenda of late has recorded floods due to some of these constructions. According to HILLTOP VOICES, years back most of these places served as farm land for vegetables like huckleberries. Yet the Government delegate to the Bamenda City council is quoted to have that Fokou fulfilled all the requirements to build on marshy land. On the other hand, the administration for Mezam is disappointed with the decision of the Bamenda II council to disrupt work in marshy areas. The administration has backed the environmental terror and is even threatening court action even when it is glaring that the city council violated the law on land tenure. However, Fru Ndi has vowed that he will not be party to the destruction of marshy areas in Bamenda reasons why he had to lead the protest himself. Fru Ndi's delegation stormed the Mile 4 neigbourhood holding placards expressing their disgust.

Tribute to Makfu Matarna Njuh Yewong by Hon. Awudu Mbaya

Hon. Awudu
Makfu Yes, your name is Makfu Matarna Njuh. Njuh Yewong           you reminded us each time there was a surprise. Three years ago, my wife and I requested to take you to Yaoundé as we always did in previous times, for change of environment and to avoid you going to the farms. You told us your time to die had reached and that you would not leave your Tabenken home again for anywhere not even to visit your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whom you loved so much. We did not relent and kept on pleading because we were optimistic about you finally agreeing to go with us some day. Behold…one fine day, you accepted to stay with us in the Nkambe residence, where you were for about three months. Next step was to take you to Yaounde; so we had to devise a means all over on how to convince you about that. As such, I again began pleading with you to attend check-up in Shisong Hospital, kumbo. Again, God’s divine intervention manifested and you agreed. When you then realized you were in Bamenda, you gently held my hand and said “Tarbo’o! Honourable! wee tap magor (you are a strong man) Awe TaahKwe (you are too intelligent).” Then you continued “I know you are taking me to Yaounde or Douala, and have now accepted; let us go so I can see all the grandchildren and great grandchildren whom I have not seen for a while now.

This is how we came with you to Yaounde and lived together for three years. You were never sick whatsoever and this was confirmed by the many Medical Doctors who came to check on you from time to time. You had your tea, food, and Malta Guinness at all times. You told us stories and even spoke out your Will to us during our discussions; which we immortalized and kept very jealously. This time around we saw you gradually going. Yes a great woman, going home majestically. When you slept in bed all day that faithful Saturday, we observed you were entirely not your usual self; and when your doctors came soon after, they told us the medication given you, were just for a “soins d’accompagnement parce-qu’elle est juste fatigue;” meaning you were not suffering from any ailment, but merely wanting to rest; and they were just going to give you some accompanying sort of food and medication. They added that we should look up to God to call you at his appointed time. Commissioner Nkerbu Joseph, Mary Bichunda (your daughter), and I went into prayers. We really saw you going within a few days and nights, and we could not help but continue praying; even as Fr. Edwin N. came and gave you the last oil (as your Catholic faith demands).
It was the fifth day since you began threatening to return to our Father, and as a statesman, I had to go to the State House for President Muhammadu Buhari’s reception. I fed and stayed with you all morning after which I reluctantly took off, not knowing the time, hour, nor day you were going to return home. That faithful moment (on the 29/07/15 about 5:40 p.m.) when I received the heart-breaking news will forever be encrypted in my mind. For a moment I unconsciously cried out, then immediately realized; firstly I was not in the right place to do that, and secondly and most especially, the fact that I should not abuse God. I understood your time to return home had come and earnestly began blessing God for a full life well spent here on earth with your first, second, and third generations. If I shed my tears, it was because, truly, the umbrella that covered us was shattered. According to my own understanding at that moment.
Your teachings which can be dated way back from the time I came to ask for your daughter’s hand in marriage cannot be left untold; Makfu you were such a great teacher who taught us Honesty, Sharing, Love, Hardwork, and Patience amongst many others. I will live up to all these lessons, even as you are no more. I would have loved you to live for many more years but the supreme powers belong to God who created us and His decisions are final.
Makfu, Mama Njuh, Shey. Thank you for who you were in my life. Go in peace!!

Your Son-in-law AwuduMbaya Cyprian
