Youth Day Celebration in Cameroon: Youngest MP Receives Junior Parliamentarians



Hon. Agho Oliver, Cameroon's youngest Member of Parliament has called on Junior Parliamentarians to be Ambassadors of Peace. Hon. Agho Oliver made the clarion call today during a meeting with Junior Parliamentarians from the North West Region. As part of activities to mark Youth Day Celebration in Cameroon, Hon. Agho Oliver said today's meeting was imperative, given the present context. " You are supposed to be peace advocates and agents of development" he reminded them. The young dynamic MP from Bafut/Tubah constituency was speaking to the Junior MPs at the Hotel des Deputes in Yaounde, today Friday 11 February 2021.


He reechoed that it was but normal for him as youngest MP in the current legislature to receive his brothers and sisters from the NW and talk and share ideas with them on happenings in the region, get their expectations and difficulties. He used the ocassion to underscore the need for youth from NW and the nation at large to uphold values of patriotism, civic behavior among others.
Hon. Agho Oliver also challenged the junior MPs to be role models of other NW youth, be respectful to MPs of their constituency and other municipal and regional authorities, and to collaborate with all and sundry for the development of the region. 
Also present at the reception were Honorables Ngang Prodencia Awa of Momo East (Mbengwi), Kumase Simon Powoh of Mezam South (Santa)  and Nestus Fru Manju of Mezam Centre.  The law makers pledged to fully support the Junior MPs in all their activities and to always liaise with them to ensure the return to peace in all the constituencies.
The lawmakers enjoined the junior MPs to preach peace to their peers in the region and see how they can use their own experience as youth to lure those carrying arms in the bushes to lay them down, give peace a chance, resume normal life and join in the reconstruction of the region.
