Ring Road Construction Project: Adjacent Communities Trained on Agricultural Drying Racks
Farmers residing along the Ring Road stretch from Ndu through Binka to Nkambe have benefited from a practical training workshop on the importance of agricultural drying racks. The session, held on Friday, August 7, 2026, in the conference hall of MAG living quarter in Binka, was convened by the Cameroon Development Network in partnership with the African Development Bank (ADB), the Ministry of Transport, and MAG SARL.
The workshop brought together key facilitators, notably Cham Gilbert Chou, Divisional Delegate of Agriculture for Donga Mantung. All the 03 speakers emphasized the role of drying racks in improving post‑harvest handling, reducing losses, and enhancing food safety for farming communities situated along the Ring Road corridor.
Participants were guided through the complete cycle of drying rack construction, usage, and maintenance. The training combined theoretical explanations with hands‑on demonstrations,(learning by doing it), ensuring that farmers not only understood the principles but also acquired practical skills. During the practical segment, attendees engaged directly in building racks, learning how to select appropriate materials, assemble structures, and apply maintenance techniques to prolong durability.
The initiative forms part of the broader Ring Road Construction Project, which seeks to integrate infrastructure development with community empowerment. By equipping farmers with knowledge on drying racks, the project strengthens local resilience, promotes sustainable agricultural practices, and ensures that communities benefit from both improved transport access and enhanced food security.This training marks a significant step in linking road construction with livelihood improvement, underscoring the importance of inclusive development strategies in Donga Mantung Division.
