Rogers Nforgwei Wins CNYC 2017 Man of the Year Award

Rogers' represntative (in suit) receiving Man of the Year

There is a common saying that those who do extraordinary things in a common manner are pragmatic. This is so because the most accomplished people have always been their own best ally in achieving their high standings because they do common things that command respect and admiration. Last week end Rogers Nforgwei (Representative of Cambridge University Press in Sub Saharan Africa) was voted Man of the Year 2017 by the Cameroon National Youth Council, Donga Mantung-CNYC. This is not surprising as he has also been named among the 100 Most Inspiring Personalities in Cameroon in 2017 by Yes Magazine. The award ceremony which took place at weekend at the Nkambe Community also recorded the launching of a Youth Excellence Center in Nkambe that will serve many.  What makes Rogers different from others is that he loves giving back to the communities.
If we go by the popular saying that a spirit of cheerful-giving builds trust, then Rogers embodies the values that need public admiration. The Man of the Year Award has strong connections to these ideals, which is significantly just a spur to encourage him in the promotion of youth activities and philanthropies’. It should be recalled that in 2016, Ndamnsah Blaise Nkfukuh (based in Italy) won CNYC Man of the Year while in 2015 the winner was Fai Cassian Ndi (CEO of Donga Mantung Eye Media Group which publishes The Eye Newspaper)

Synopsis of Man of the Year, Rogers Nforgwei
Rogers Nforgwei hails from Mbabi in the Wat village. At 45 years old, he is employed with one of the oldest and most prestigious multinational publishing companies called Cambridge University Press in England since 1999 (18 years). His career with that company has been prosperous during that time within the same company and today he is Director for the Mid Africa Region (West, Centra& East Africa) since the last 4 years. Interesting to note that he is the only Black man from Africa holding the level of responsibility, all the way from Mbabi, Wat!
In this capacity, he directs Cambridge business in more than 30 countries taking responsibility for market development, overall strategy, supply chain, operations and contracting of partnerships.
His God-fearing nature, his humility, his bilingualism, his flexibility and his ability to contextualize ideologies have been the strength behind his capacity to navigate through the varied cultures of both English Speaking and French Speaking African countries as well as his multitasking in many other roles:
His Trappings
He is CEO and Chairman of one of the leading local publishing companies in Cameroon, which he founded about 10 years ago and which is fast growing into a continental company.
He is the founding President of DRIMP Foundation, which in seven years has provided mentorship to Cameroonian youths nationwide through the various youth leadership and social programmes organized by the foundation. DRIMP Foundation, being a faith based organization, has also organized pastors’ conferences in Cameroon as well as they have taken on the challenge of promoting of and advocating for the growth and recognition of gospel music.
He is National President of National Association of Publishers in Cameroon. He has been aggressive in the advocacy for publishing and quality education as one of the ways to building a strong nation.
He is the Director of Finance and Administration of COHEB, an International humanitarian NGO operating in Central Africa Republic, Chad and Cameroon.
His torrential presence in the community life of Donga Mantung Division has been unbelievable. It truly attests to the fact that this man is a man with the heart for humanity, as seen in the following projects
1.     Organization of a championship tournament for boys and a heavily attended Youth forum worth 3million, 2016
2.     Donation of text books to Primaries schools and secondary schools in the Sub Division worth close to 10.2million, 2016
3.     The establishment of the Home Branch WADECA (Wat Development and Cultural Association) which is transforming the Wat village and focusing the Wat people on unity and sustainable development
4.     Sponsorship of a paint artist from Nkambe to Yaounde for the National Art and Culture Exhibition by the Ministry of Arts and culture,
5.     Lobbied for more participants and guided the proper selection of the three Youth Parliamentarians for the Donga Mantung during the first ever youth parliamentarian in Cameroon in 2016
6.     And he is main sponsor of the Women football Championship 2017 in Donga Mantung, 2017
7.     Donated 900 books to promote back to school to Primary schools in Nkambe, 2017
No doubt the President of Republic of Cameroon knighted him in November 2016 with the prestigious “Chevlier de l’Ordre de la Valeur
When Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said: “Lives of great men all remind us, we can make our lives sublime, and, departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time” he was talking about the likes of Rogers Nforgwei, who has engaged in promoting youth talents. In fact, his contributions to building others can only be captured by Thomas Carlyle who emphasized that ‘Man is only truly great when he acts from his passions’. The name Rogers Nforgwei is gradually becoming a household name in Donga Mantung Division not only among the hard-to-reach and underserved segments of the population but also within political circles.
Like Bill Copeland he believes that ‘the trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score’ surely Rogers’ direction is to score a political goal.

Neymar's Bad Attitude Divides PSG

The 25-year-old has always had issues following orders, but his recent fall-out with PSG boss, Unai Emery has caused friction at the Ligue 1 club.

Neymar Jr.

Since his €222 million move from Barcelona, Neymar has proved a divisive figure at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Brazil international's fall-out with team-mate Edinson Cavani over which of the two forwards took a penalty awarded in PSG's 2-0 victory over Lyon earlier in the season caused tension at the capital club, and his relationship with manager Unai Emery is evidently strained.

It's not the first time Neymar has found it difficult to bow to the demands of his higher-ups, and Emery's decision to side with Cavani over the aforementioned penalty has caused strain behind the scenes at PSG.

Neymar famously took on then-Santos manager Dorival Junior following a similar incident in which the coach refused to let the Brazilian take a spot-kick against Atletico GO, resulting in him losing his job.

"I am not here to make excuses," Neymar said following the incident. "But to apologise to everyone who enjoys football. The real Neymar is not the Neymar you saw yesterday.
The real Neymar is a joyful player, always happy and with a smile on his face. I came home and saw what I did, and I was embarrassed."

Neymar may have eventually apologised for his reaction to the situation, but it only magnified his issues with following order. The 25-year-old has also held a public spat with Barcelona chiefs since his summer departure, though tension between Neymar and Barca backroom staff was reported before mention of a move away.

"He does not like any coach," a source close to the player told Goal. "Ever since he has been in Santos, he has had problems with all his coaches, whether club or selection. He complained about Luis Enrique methods of work in general, his choices on the regular players and substitutes.

"The highlight was the blood drive against Unzue, Enrique's assistant, when he told him to be careful not to finish like Ronaldinho and focus more on his football."

Neymar has also taken issues with Emery's pre-match preparation, and more specifically the Spaniard's over-reliance on his video sessions. Emery's set-up includes private instructions for Neymar in video form which the forward does not buy into.

The personal issues draw attention to a wider problem; a disconnect between Emery's team and the Brazilian contingent at the Ligue 1 club.
Dani Alves is said to enjoy the former Sevilla manager's style of coaching, though Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura, a close friend of Neymar who is yet to make a single league start this season, share the forward's concerns.

Silva in particular, who publicly backed Neymar over the penalty incident, is said to have turned on the management as a result of Cavani taking the following spot-kick after his comments.

Is Neymar happy in Paris? It appears so. Will the Brazilian be able to repair his relationship with Emery? Only time will tell.

Didier Drogba to Return to Chelsea

Former Chelsea striker and legend, Didier Drogba might be returning to the North London club to replace the Technical Director from Nigeria.

Didier Drogba

Chelsea are considering the possibility of bringing Didier Drogba back to Stamford Bridge to replace former Super Eagles defender, Michael Emenalo,

Emenalo recently resigned his appointment as Technical Director of the Premier League champions. The Telegraph is reporting that Emenalo’s departure could pave the way for Abramovich to try again to bring back Drogba.

Hull City manager Leonid Slutsky is also being considered and can be offered a job at Chelsea in case he is dismissed from the post of head coach of his club.

Drogba scored over 150 goals across two different spells at Chelsea and is currently a player-owner at American club Phoenix Rising.

However, there are reports that French Ligue 1 moneybags Monaco are interested in the services of Emenalo. Emenalo had cited family reasons for his resignation.

“After 10 years here, 10 wonderful, successful years, but very demanding years, it is a very tough decision to decide to step aside”, he said.

“It is entirely my decision and it has come about for very simple reasons. I need an opportunity to get to see my young kids grow and also to step back and reflect on the work that I have done here and the things that we have been able to accomplish together in this great club.

“It is something I have been thinking about for quite some time now and it is something I have discussed with my family and they understand the reasons and the timing for wanting to step aside.”

US Journalist Jailed in Zimbabwe for Allegedly Insulting Mugabe Freed

After being arrested for allegedly insulting the President of Zimbabwe, an American journalist has been released.

Martha O'Donovan was arrested in a dawn raid at her apartment earlier this month on charges of insulting Zimbabwe's 93-year-old President Robert Mugabe.

Zimbabwe freed on Thursday a 25-year-old American journalist charged with subverting President Robert Mugabe on account of an alleged tweet that described the ageing leader as “selfish and sick”,  according to AFP.

The American journalist identified as Martha O’Donovan had been charged with attempting to overthrow Mugabe as well as undermining or insulting the veteran leader, now 93.

Her laptop was seized following a raid at her apartment last Friday just weeks after the government appointed a cybersecurity minister tasked with policing social media.

“Ms Martha O’Donovan has been granted $1,000 bail (860 euros) and ordered to reside at a given address, surrender her passport… and report twice a week” to detectives, said O’Donovan’s lawyer Obey Shava, speaking outside Harare’s High Court.

Prosecutors say that on October 11, O’Donovan tweeted on her @matigary account: “We are being led by a selfish and sick man.” The tweet was illustrated with a photo showing the Zimbabwean president with a catheter device.

The judge sided with the defence and accepted that the state had failed to justify the reason for remanding her in custody.

O’Donovan works for Harare-based Magamba TV, which describes itself as a leading producer of cutting-edge political satire and comedy. Its content is uploaded to YouTube.

Human rights lawyers had said previously that the arrest was linked to a retweet which did not mention Mugabe by name but referred to a “goblin whose wife and step-son bought a Rolls-Royce”.

Mugabe’s stepson with his wife and first-lady Grace is thought to have recently imported two of the British luxury cars, according to local media reports.

The cybersecurity ministry was created in Mugabe’s latest cabinet shuffle last month and is seen by rights groups as an attempt to clamp down on social media ahead of next year’s election.

Mugabe has already been named by his ruling ZANU-PF party as its presidential candidate for the 2018 vote.

Pope Warns Catholics, Priests to Stop Engaging in 'Bad Behaviour'

Pope Francis has warned Catholics and priests who engage in this bad behaviour to desist from it.

Pope Francis

Pope Francis took snap-happy bishops, priests and pilgrims to task on Wednesday, telling them mass was a time for prayer, not an opportunity to whip out smartphones.

“At a certain point the priest leading the ceremony says ‘lift up our hearts’. He doesn’t say ‘lift up our mobile phones to take photographs’,” he chastised those gathered in Saint Peter’s square for his weekly audience.

“It’s so sad when I’m celebrating mass here or inside the basilica and I see lots of phones held up — not just by the faithful, but also by priests and bishops! Please!”

The 80-year old Argentine pontiff is no stranger to the world of social media, boasting over 14 million followers on his English-language Twitter account alone, and often posing for selfies with enthusiastic young pilgrims.

But he has a conflicted relationship with mobiles.

In February he told youngsters to get off their cell phones during family meals, warning that the death of face-to-face conversations can have dire consequences for society, even resulting in wars.

He has called the internet, social media and text messages “a gift of God” if used wisely, but has also tried to persuade today’s youth to swap their smartphones for pocket-sized bibles.

President Mugabe Sacks 'Disloyal' Vice-president as Grace Mugabe Set to Succeed Her Husband

In what was described as 'traits of disloyalty' Zimbabwe's President, Robert Mugabe has sacked his vice, boosting Grace Mugabe's hopes of succeeding her husband.

President Robert Mugabe

According to BBC, Zimbabwe's Vice-President, Emmerson Mnangagwa has been removed from his post, the country's information minister says.

75-year-old Mnangagwa, displayed "traits of disloyalty", Information Minister Simon Khaya Moyo said.

His removal makes it more likely that President Robert Mugabe's wife Grace will follow in her husband's footsteps as leader of Zimbabwe.

She had earlier called on her husband to remove his vice-president.
"Mr Mnangagwa's conduct in discharge of his duties is inconsistent with the responsibilities," Information Minister Simon Moyo said.

"The Vice-President has exhibited traits of disloyalty", he added.

Mr Mnangagwa, a former intelligence chief, had been a leading candidate to succeed President Mugabe.
