The sensitization campaign recently reached Lower Mbot, engaging community members, students, and pupils in discussions on pressing social and environmental issues. Participants were educated on the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the importance of road safety measures, and the need to safeguard national patrimony. The sessions also highlighted the dangers of illegal logging and the growing threat of pollution, encouraging collective responsibility in protecting both people and the environment.  

As the tarring of the Ring Road by MAG SARL progresses, new challenges emerge with the improved infrastructure. Increased road quality often leads to higher travel speeds, raising concerns about accidents involving bike riders and drivers. To address this, measures are being introduced to curb reckless driving and ensure that communities adapt safely to the changes brought by modernized road conditions. This was the reason behind the massive sensitization in Lower Mbot in Mbot village on December 17, 2025. 

The Ring Road construction project, funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), is widely expected to transform lives across the Northwest Region. By improving connectivity, the project will enhance trade, mobility, and access to essential services, while also fostering economic growth and social development.  

This sensitization initiative was organized by the Cameroon Development Network (CDN) in partnership with AfDB, the Ministry of Public Works (MINTP), and MAG SARL. Together, these institutions are ensuring that communities are not only beneficiaries of the road project but also active participants in shaping safer, healthier, and more sustainable futures.

The deal with one of Africa’s largest state-owned telecom operators marks a turning point in CAMTEL’s ambition to evolve from a traditional connectivity provider into a central driver of Cameroon’s digital transformation.  

CAMTEL’s Director General, Judith Yaah Sunday, hailed the agreement as a bold affirmation of Africa’s responsibility to shape its own digital future. She emphasized that partnering with Ethio Telecom—renowned for its strategic discipline and strong performance—will accelerate CAMTEL’s pursuit of operational excellence and home-grown innovation.  

The accord establishes a comprehensive framework to modernize CAMTEL’s operations, diversify its service portfolio, and strengthen Cameroon’s digital ecosystem. Key initiatives include:  

- Expanding “Blue Money”, CAMTEL’s electronic payment system, to advance financial inclusion.  

- Developing a secure Government Cloud platform to support the digitalization of public services and safeguard national data.  

- Upgrading network technologies, with rapid deployment of 4G, 5G, and emerging systems.  

- Driving internal reforms to boost organizational efficiency and enhance customer service.  

Ethio Telecom’s Director General, Frehiwot Tamiru, endorsed the partnership’s holistic approach, noting that true relevance in today’s telecom sector requires internal digital transformation alongside infrastructure expansion. Mafor Yah Judith Epse Achidi's Scholarship: 1,022 Smiles Mark A Legacy of Giving

A total of 1,022 students from government and private schools in Ndu Subdivision have received scholarships from Yah Sunday Judith epse Achidi, General Manager of Camtel and an illustrious daughter of Ndu. The financial assistance, aimed at covering part of the students’ school fees, was officially handed over on Tuesday, November 25, at the Ndu Council Hall in the presence of the Divisional Officer for Ndu Subdivision.

This marks the second edition of the scholarship program, designed to promote school attendance across the subdivision. The increased number of beneficiaries this year is a testament to the positive impact of last year’s initiative.  

Grateful recipients expressed heartfelt appreciation to the donor, pledging to excel academically as a way of honoring the support. They also voiced hopes that the scholarship scheme will be sustained for many years to come.

The election features 11 challengers, including former government spokesperson Issa Tchiroma Bakary, 79, and Hermine Patricia Tomaïno Ndam Njoya, who have drawn significant support from youth and civil society platforms demanding democratic renewal. Nkambe Council Awarded 50 Million Francs for Excellence in PIB Project Execution

In a high profile ceremony held on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé, the Nkambe Council was honored for its outstanding performance in executing Public Investment Budget (PIB) projects. As part of the recognition, the Council was granted 50 million francs by the Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development (MINEPAT) to finance a priority public investment project in 2026.

In an official letter addressed to the Mayor of Nkambe, Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey stated:

 “I am pleased to inform you that your council has been awarded a special public investment grant in the gross amount of 50 million Francs. This grant is intended to finance a public investment project that will benefit the population of your community during the 2026 financial year.”

The Minister further instructed the Council to submit the technical documentation for the selected project promptly, emphasizing that the allocation would be made available upon receipt.

Celebrating the achievement, Minister Mey remarked:

“This is an important milestone in the era of decentralization, and we want to reward the best.”

Representing the people of Nkambe at the ceremony was Honourable Ngala Gerard, Member of Parliament for Nkambe Central Constituency. He commended Mayor Musa Shey Nfor for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to development.

On this day, residents came together for a dynamic sensitization campaign addressing the social and environmental challenges accompanying large-scale infrastructure development.

Spearheaded by the Cameroon Development Network (CDN) in partnership with the Ministry of Public Works, the African Development Bank, and MAG SARL, the initiative united community members across generations and professions. Through a combination of indoor workshops and door-to-door outreach, the campaign tackled urgent topics including public health, road safety, environmental protection, and the safeguarding of national road heritage.

Discussions ranged from the dangers of illegal logging and pollution to the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted infections. Health professionals offered free HIV/AIDS screening and counseling, reinforcing the importance of early detection, stigma reduction, and community-based care.

Sacred Forests in Focus: Strategic Open Dialogue for Nkambe Plateau’s Heritage Preservation andEcological Future

"When trees speak, the community listens." Guided by this wisdom, stakeholders gathered at the palace hall of His Majesty King Kwefi II of Binka to engage in a strategic dialogue on the future of sacred forests across the Nkambe Plateau. The Open Dialogue, convened by the Youth Development Organization (Yodo) and GLFx Nkambe, forms part of the sustainability strategy of the Smart Sacred Forest Restoration Project—an initiative supported by the Mellon Foundation and the Heritage Management Organization under the HerMapAfrica Grants Program.

In his welcome address, King Kwefi II expressed deep appreciation to participants for their commitment to safeguarding cultural heritage and promoting environmental sustainability. He extended heartfelt thanks to the project’s funders for empowering communities to shape the destiny of their sacred forests. “The rate at which these forests are vanishing is alarming,” he warned. “If we fail to act decisively against encroachment, future generations will hold us accountable.”

Fai Cassian Ndi, Coordinator of Yodo/GLFx Nkambe, emphasized the sacred forest’s vital role in community survival. Though often small in size, these forests serve as sources of food, spiritual refuge, economic resilience for the poor, and natural carbon sinks.

Cham Gilbert, Divisional Delegate of Agriculture for Donga Mantung, further illustrated the sacred forest’s multifaceted value—as biodiversity hotspots, water sources, and spaces of spiritual reawakening deeply intertwined with community identity.

The gathering drew a rich tapestry of voices, including HRM Fon Mbunwe Barnabas of Njap, HRH Fon Nji Amidou of Nkambe, HRH Fon Chifu Stanley Time, queen mothers, sub-chiefs and village priests, the 3rd Deputy Mayor of Nkambe Council, educators, youth and women leaders, and representatives of the Mbororo/Fulani community.

Following the dialogue, stakeholders committed to bold measures to curb destructive activities in and around sacred forests. Proposed actions include:

-  A ban on the burning of Ankara, a major cause of bushfires  

- Restrictions on farming and grazing within sacred zones  

-  Reinforcement of traditional injunctions  

- Tree planting and stewardship of previously donated seedlings from Yodo  

Notably, on August 22, 2025, Yodo mobilized the Binka community to plant 5,700 native trees in the Dfu-dfu Sacred Forest—an act of restoration and reverence that echoes the spirit of the dialogue.

As of July 30, 2025, the Cameroon GCE Board has not yet officially released the results for the 2025 Ordinary Level (O-Level), Advanced Level (A-Level), and Technical/Vocational (TVEE) exams. However, based on past trends and academic calendars, the results are expected to be published by today July 31, 2025.

Let me take you back in time—when the Ring road was a traveler's nightmare. During the rainy season, each little hill earned a name of it's own-etched by struggle and soaked in patience. When traveling from Ndu to Nkambe or beyond needed two sets of dresses. In the dry season, powder took the back seat to dust, it polluted the air, settle on skins and coated every memory. Women didn't need powder because there was dust to serve the purpose. Today, those memories have faded into history-paved over by progress. MAG SARL etched a legacy into the very soul of Donga Mantung. A vision so bold, it stretches across the Ring Road like a dream cast in stone. MAG SARL rose beyond construction; it became the heartbeat of sustainable development and a living symbol of shared progress.

CAMTEL Brings Hope to Widows in Ndu Through Free Health Campaign

In a heartfelt gesture, the GM of Cameroon Telecommunications CAMTEL—the national telecommunications provider of Cameroon recently launched a free health campaign in Ndu town of Ndu Subdivision, Donga Mantung Division. Mafor Yah Sunday Epse Achidi, the Director General of CAMTEL's initiative aimed to uplift the health and dignity of over 500 widows. The campaign was met with deep appreciation from the community. Many widows expressed their gratitude, describing the initiative as a rare and empowering act of solidarity.

This effort aligns with her broader commitment to social welfare and supporting rural development.

Ring Road Construction Spurs Community Awareness Drive

As construction progresses on the Ndu-Binka-Nkambe stretch of the Ring Road in Cameroon’s Northwest Region, communities along the corridor are benefiting from a robust sensitization campaign aimed at promoting public health, environmental protection, and infrastructure preservation.

Campaign Highlights

-Start Dates: Binju (June 5, 2025) and Nkambe (June 13, 2025). The event is organized by  Cameroon Development Network, in partnership with the African Development Bank, Ministry of Public Works, and MAG SARL

Focus Areas

  - HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections

  - Illegal logging and pollution

  - Road safety and protection of national road patrimony

CAMTEL to Introduce 5G Network in Cameroon

Cameroon Telecommunications - CAMTEL, the leading national telecom  has confirmed its efforts  to support the government of Cameroon in delivering modern, accessible and reliable services to both citizens and businesses in the country. 

CAMTEL Deputy General Manager, Daniel Désiré Ollé has revealed that Camtel plans to introduce 5G technology as part of a broader network expansion aimed at improving service quality, increasing coverage from 40% to 80%.

He was speaking at the 14th edition of the Government Action Fair (SAGO), currently taking place at the Yaounde Conference Center under the theme "Public service and challenges of Cameroon's economic growth".

Mr Ollé said " Since 2015, CAMTEL has deployed 2G, 3G and 4G technologies at the same level with other operators. Today, we are moving further with 5G infrastructure already in place at the hardware level. All what is left now, is activating the software components once the national 5G strategy is officially adopted".

 SAGO, the French acronym for the Government Action Fair which began last month on June 28 shall end July 5th.

It presented an opportunity for the leading telecommunications operator in Cameroon to lead a conference on the theme " CAMTEL: For a more Connected Cameroon". During discussions, the deputy manager Daniel Désiré Ollé highlights the company's strategic vision, one of which is the soon-to-be launch Blue Money, CAMTEL's mobile money solution.

Growing up in the picturesque community of Muteff in the Fundong municipality of Cameroon's North West Region, every child in a sugarcane-deprived compound looked forward with anxiety to the after-school hours where those of us from Njinaku quarter would flog to Bobe Ayungha's sugarcane-infested compound situated on the road to the forest where the farms of virtually all community members were found. 

We would often volunteer to help Bobe Ayungha with various tasks in his carpentry workshop in exchange for permission to harvest sugarcane in his coffee plantation, which stretched down to the river Ngwah. The river originated from the "Agheli" forest, a mystical shrine of the Nantang Yoh Order. One fateful day, we gathered at Bobe Ayungha's workshop, only to find him absent. While waiting for his return, we began playing around the premises, unaware that one of us had accidentally destroyed two pages of the calendar hanging on the wall. Unbeknownst to us, this calendar was crucial to Bobe Ayungha's business, serving as a personal assistant to keep track of delivery and payment dates. 

When he arrived and saw the damaged calendar, he stormed towards us, furious. We realized something was amiss when he began thrashing us indiscriminately, only stopping when we showed genuine remorse. He explained the extent of the harm we had caused and concluded by saying "Choeteh Agus-September all," which translates to "You have destroyed all of August and September," highlighting the significance of the damaged calendar pages.

Just as the vandalization of Bobe Ayungha's calendar disrupted his communication with customers, the repeated destruction of Cameroon's Telecommunications (CAMTEL) optic fiber lines by individuals across the country has had a similar impact. This alarming trend has prompted the General Manager of CAMTEL, Yah Sunday Judith Achidi Achu, to address the National Assembly. On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, she expressed concern about the uncontrollable situation, highlighting the need for action to protect critical infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted communication services.

"Every cable cut, every manhole sabotaged, and each fiber ripped out instantly plunges entire regions, and even neighboring countries, into digital silence," states Judith Achidi Achu. She emphasizes, "It's not just a technical incident; it's a brutal obstacle to national economic development, a disruption of public services, and a violation of citizens' basic human rights." Achu further explains that each cable cut deprives students of online courses, disrupts telemedicine services in hospitals, renders government institutions inaccessible, and disconnects businesses from their customers. She notes that vandalized cables weaken the economy, compromise sovereignty, and undermine national cohesion.

Disheartened by the situation, the General Manager of CAMTEL, Judith Achidi Achu, is urging Cameroonian lawmakers to expedite the formulation of legislation that prioritizes the protection of digital infrastructure as a national security concern. She advocates for a robust legal framework with exemplary and deterrent penalties for acts of vandalism, drawing inspiration from countries like Kenya, Uganda, Taiwan, and the United States, where such acts are treated as serious threats to national sovereignty. Pending the legislation, Yah calls for policies that integrate telecommunications networks into public development projects, such as roads, buildings, and highways, by incorporating standardized cable ducts from the outset.

Although the CAMTEL General Manager didn't directly name those responsible for the vandalism, it's becoming increasingly clear that telecommunications infrastructure is being targeted as a new battlefield in conflict zones worldwide. According to Access Now, a global digital rights watchdog, there has been a surge in attacks on digital infrastructure and connectivity in conflict zones. Access Now notes, "This digital component of warfare is now commonplace in war zones, from Ukraine to Myanmar to Sudan, yet it remains frequently overlooked in peacemaking efforts." They also point out that existing legislation and international instruments weren't designed with the internet, technology, or social media in mind.

Unlike the CAMTEL GM, Access Now highlights that some argue that robust implementation of existing laws is needed, rather than new legislation. In Cameroon's case, the challenge lies in effectively enforcing current legislation. The Colbert Factor suggests that CAMTEL authorities should focus on developing a precise definition of telecommunications infrastructure vandalism and how it fits within existing laws on public property destruction, as well as holding perpetrators accountable.

To achieve this, they could implement organizational education, sensitization, and training programs for law enforcement officers on the critical role of digital technologies and infrastructure in national security. Additionally, recruiting community-based volunteers to report suspicious cases of fiber optic vandalism to law enforcement officers could be an effective strategy. This is because even if a new tougher law is passed and implementation incentives are not there, it will remain on paper like the other pieces of legislation in Cameroon

The tournament, which spans football, volleyball, handball, and even horse racing, is designed to engage youth across all five subdivisions of the division throughout the holidays 

Mafor Yah Judith, General Manager of CAMTEL and the tournament’s visionary sponsor, continues to use sport as a powerful tool for peacebuilding and social cohesion. With FECAFOOT-trained local referees and prizes ranging from cash to didactic materials, this year’s edition is raising the bar and the competition could portray huge talents.

Yah Judith Sunday Epse Achidi Donates to Achaba Riders

 The General Manager of CAMTEL, Yah Judith Sunday epse Achidi, has donated hundreds of helmets, rain boots, jackets and bags to Achaba Association of Ndu sub division. The huge support was handed to the riders this week as part of her contribution to enhance safety and eradicate road accidents. 

The population have expressed gratitude to CAMTEL GM for her timely support. The riders also thanked Mafor Yah Judith for her motherly support. Ndu Achada rider President flanked by his executive said with the Ring Road the material support received will  save lives. To Ndzi Emmanuel, these materials is what they needed.
