Donga Mantung SDO is Campaign Manager for CPDM SDF Officials Say

By Fai Cassian
Meeting at the Nkambe Community Hall today February 17, 2013, to evaluate the level of registration of potential voters ahead of the 2013 Municipal and Legislative elections, SDF officials have lamented that the Senior Divisional Officer for Donga Mantung Division has been campaigning for the CPDM party. SDF Member of Parliament Hon. Awudu Mbaya Cyprian said his party has observed that during his meet the people’s tour, Ngone Ndodemesape Bernard who is supposed to be an administrator transformed self into a politician and was campaigning for the CPDM. Accordingly Hon. Awudu Mbaya told SDF local party officials that one time Tanyi Tarikia Martin and Oben Achu tried and it did not work. He however lamented that it is unfortunate that the Senior Divisional Officer has launched campaigns ahead of the official date in defiance of the law. He (Hon. Awudu Mbaya) cited an incident in Tabenken where the SDO praised Gerard Ngala for opening the road and when he (Ngone Ndodemesape Bernard) got to Wat and the population expressed joy that Hon. Awudu gave them electricity, he said it was given by the state. “Power” Hon Awudu noted is to rule the people and added that “if the SDO does his job in neutrality, he will be our friend but if he takes stand as CPDM campaign manager we will hate him”. According to Hon. Awudu Mbaya, there is no one who can kill the spirit of the SDF in Nkambe Central. “Let nobody be deceived that he can kill the spirit of the SDF party”. Hon. Awudu Mbaya reminded SDF local party officials of the incident that took place some years ago at Ndu where soldiers infiltrated broken bottles into women private parts and said time is coming when women (girls) will boycott all administrators in Donga Mantung Division. Hon. Awudu Mbaya recalled how he lost his sister during that incident. “If President Biya doesn’t come here to apologize and pay damages to all the women of Donga Mantung Division, no (woman/girl) will never ever give room to any administrator”.  However all attempts to get to Ngone Ndodemesape to react to the allegations were not fruitful.
Speaking to this reporter after the meeting, the mayor of Nkambe, Mangoh Jones Tanko said that the issue of the Senior Divisional Officer playing the role of CPDM campaign manager came up during the evaluation and added “if that is how he (Ngone Ndodemesape) is going to work, he will have a lot of difficulties”. He said that the intimidation and the money that has been given to the administration will not change anything in Nkambe Central. Furthermore Hon. Awudu also castigated the fact that there is intoxication in Nkambe that the jangali tax paid by grazers is imposed on the population by the mayor, yet he said it is a lie. He also revealed that the CPDM is planning to impose 30 councilors who are not home based and that only 11 councilors will be selected locally. This Hon. Awudu said is a sign of greediness. He said no councilor has resigned from the SDF contrary to the intoxication that 9 councilors have resigned from the SDF to join the CPDM.
SDF militants frowned at the way the administration is encroaching into politics and vowed that come sun and, or rain, nobody will succeed to off root them.  It is alleged that while at Bih village and Binka, the SDO told the population to always clinch to government so that they could have more development projects yet the SDF sees this as violation of law. Mangoh said anyone who talks CPDM in Donga Mantung Division whereas for more than 60 years there is no road linking the divisional headquarters to the regional headquarters should considered himself as being in a state of sin. “ We must give the CPDM zero vote to express our anger”.
On her part the education secretary Madame Mary Awudu said that the CPDM is a sham because most of the top ranking ministers are in prison for cheating people of their resources. “They are cheats, liars and experts of intoxication” she added. She recounted how some CPDM party officials visited some homes telling old mothers and fathers that the elderly persons will not vote this year. She called on all the local party officials to keep the faith because only a fruitful tree will receive stones from wanton boys. “We are out to protect our victory and we are ready for the game”. She said CPDM militants of Donga Mantung are like the Pharisees. Accordingly, Mary Awudu said love is not money and drawing inspiration from Jeremiah 17, which states that “money dishonestly gotten turns you to a fool” she said when she looks at all those people from Yaounde she wonders whether they are from Mbumland.
At the end of the meeting, SDF local party officials announced that zonal conventions will kick-start this week.

Tension in Misaje Over Gross Violations in Issuance of Free Identity Cards

 Le Turbo Japhet
The issuing of free identity cards in Misaje Sub Division of Donga Mantung Division in the North West Region is generating a lot of tension and controversy. Tension is reported in Misaje over the gross violation in the procedure of issuing free identity cards. The nervousness we gathered is orchestrated by the fact that the CPDM is accused of violating the procedures in order to register its militants in defiance of the text which prescribes the necessary documents needed to obtain a free identity card.
It is no more new that President Biya decided to offer the issuance of free identity cards in order to curb voter apathy. This initiative was intended to encourage the poorer of the poor to participate in electing local officials but naïve politicians are violating the text for personal interest, sources hinted. It is clear that the main documents to acquire a free identity card is a photocopy of birth certificate, and or an attestation of birth issued by the Mayor and copy of Nationality signed by the President of the Court(compulsory everywhere). Yet Misaje Sub Division seems to have a special status. Contrary to what has been observed in other places, in Misaje the attestation of birth is issued by the Divisional Officer and not the mayor. And the most pathetic thing is that identity cards are issued in Misaje without a signed Nationality attached.
Moreso, youths below the ages of 20 are reported to have been issued identity cards and registered wherein their ages have been increased giving that anyone below 20 is rejected by the biometric system. These tricks classified sources hinted is generating a lot of heat and tension and like volcano could explode. The question many have been asking is whether Misaje Sub Division has become state within a state with its own laws. According to information gathered from reliable sources the masquerade has been masterminded by politicians to register voters. It is even alleged that the scheme to rig voter’s registration has been conceived by Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry, Secretary of State for Mines, Industries and Technological Development.  Speaking to this reporter on phone, Maah Isaac SDF diehard in Misaje frowned at the obnoxious practice and the violation of procedures. He reiterated that it is also an abuse of human rights. “It is really a pity that some people think they can always fool the people all the time”. He said the people are being fooled because they will never have the original of the identity card. “This is another form of rigging”, he added. Classified sources hinted that there is tension as some politicians are threatening to go to the street if the situation is not taken care of immediately. They say the trick is intended to rig elections. One politician who preferred not to be mentioned hinted that the absence of police officials in the identification post has given way to multiple lapses. More so, they are also accusing the Divisional officer of signing the attestation of birth and the receipt of the identity card. He argued that it is unlawful because if the Divisional Officer is signing attestations births, he could equally sign the birth certificates and marriage certificates which is also in defiance of the law in force.

ASILIS Donates to Women Groups

By Kimbi V Muku
The Association for the Improvement of Living commonly Standards known as ASILIS has supported women groups in Nkambe. The donation which was handed to the beneficiaries by its Chief Executive Officer, Gerard Ngala comes as a booster to the “buyam sellam” women in Nkambe. Before handing over the sum of 500.000 FCFA and 600.000 FCFA respectively to the two beneficiary groups, Gerard Ngala said the funds are intended to boost the activities of the buyam-sellam women who are engaged in petite trades. The CEO of ASILIS also added that the amount was a like a seed fund for the two groups. Buying and selling, Gerard Ngala noted is a very important economic activity because the women in their numbers help to evacuate foodstuffs from enclaved area, thus they contribute significantly to the improvement of the standard of living of the rural poor. To sustain their activities, he added, ASILIS thought it necessary to support them by providing them a seed fund which could help set up a small micro-credit and loan scheme.
It should be recalled that the association recently support all Primary schools in Nkambe Central with didactic materials. Besides, ASILIS also donated to the Moslem communities of wat, Nkambe and Binka among others.

Dr. Nfor Susungi Nwayuke Extols Hon. Awudu’s Submission For Parliament

By FC Ndi
Dr. Nfor Susungi Nwayuke
Dr. Nfor Susungi Nwayuke, the celebrated economists and the 2011 Presidential Hopeful has endorsed Hon. Awudu Mbaya Cyprian’s bid for reelection into Parliament.
Dr. Susungi was speaking to pressmen in Nkambe by phone from Cotonou, Republic of Benin on Thursday, February14, 2013. In his words, the Presidential hopeful extolled Hon. Awudu trappings and corroborated that Hon. Awudu Mbaya’s track records in Mbum people are very evident. His foresightedness in fostering development efforts and uniting the Mbum people he said have proven beyond reasonable doubts that he is a formidable man of all men in action.
Talking about Hon. Awudu’s parliamentary candidature in Nkambe central, Dr. Susungi was firm that the man has done what he expects of an MP in the present dispensation. He wondered what Hon. Awudu has suddenly done wrong to the point that some people say he must be replaced at all cost. He however advised the Mbum people of Nkambe Central to continue to give the MP their support so that he could continue with his numerous projects aimed at fostering development in Mbumland.
He warned against rumours on some obnoxious political practices which may divide the Mbum people or create unnecessary tendencies in families like what transpired in Tabenken where it is alleged the corps of a former MP where he is family head was exhumed.  The erstwhile political analyst and economic expert was quick to remark that he is neither a militant of SDF nor CPDM, given that he is a “ressembleur” (gatherer). In the last presidential elections of 2011, Dr. Susungi wrote to some top notches of CPDM and SDF proposing a consensus Presidential candidate for the sake of the unity and development of Cameroon. Since this was ignored, he, Susungi has since been watching. But, Susungi concluded, he cannot be indifferent to the cacophony approaching through this young man who wants Hon. Awudu out of the way at all cost.
It should be recalled the he (Dr. Susungi) recently called on youths of Mbuland who want to enter politics to first plant a tree, water it and observe it grow. This experience he said will permit young to have enough experience to do politics. He also told the story of a pear tree he planted some years ago that has given him enough experience in politics.
