Donga Mantung Division: Suspected Dealers in Human Parts Arrested

The suspected dealers, Sule, Usmanu Tanko and Nyamsay Isa were arrested on March 18, 2015 at Sabongari (Nwa Sub Division) in possession of human parts (skull, bones) and transferred to the Nkambe prison. The story goes that Usmanu Sule (claiming relationship) with Aladji Musa contacted him and proposed that he should buy the human parts. Shocked by the type of business proposal, he immediately alerted his immediate surrounding and the police. When Sule and Usmanu Tanko arrived at Aladji’s home to take him to the alleged suppliers, ( Nyamsay Isa and Fortipme Salifou) they were picked up. Acting on the instruction of police, the two middlemen called the suppliers and arranged that they should meet at “Terre Rouge” given that Aladji doesn’t cross the river. Nyamsay Isa was already at the meeting point while Fortipme Salifou (both of the West Region) was still to cross the river when the police appeared. Fortipme (supposed owner) escaped while Nyamsay was arrested.
When quizzed how they got themselves involved in the business, Sule said that sometimes ago he travelled to Mante (West Region) for the burial of his in-law and when he got there, his friend Nyamsay Isa proposed to him that he had human parts and whether he could look for someone to buy them. He said when he came back to Sabongari, while in a discussion with his friends; he told them that Magba is a bad place because the other day one of his friends asked him to look for a buyer of human parts. Sule claimed that the day he met Nyamsay Isa, his father asked him what they were discussing for that long and he told him his friend was proposing that he had human parts for sell. According to Sule, he made his friend at Mante some 17km away from Magba(West Region) after they haven’t met for a very long time.
The suspected dealers: Sule, Nyamsay, Usmanu
While at Sabongari, Sule said he told his friend that Nyamsay had proposed to him that he has human parts for sell but he was not interested. On hearing this, Usmanu Tanko took interest in the business and latter told him that he will propose it to his friend Aladji.
On the other hand, Nyamsay Isa said he too was also introduced to the business by the supposed owner who escaped. According to Nyamsay Isa, his friend Fortipme Salifou was the person who dug the skeleton. And that he was introduced into the business by Fortipme Salifou (owner). Salifou he added only asked him whether he could look for someone to buy the human parts given that he is closer to Sabongari where such businesses take place especially as they are closer to Gembu in Nigeria. Allegedly, the owner of the business, Fortipme Salifou from Magba is said to have absconded from police dragnet given that at the moment he was across the river.
However, public opinion holds that the truth has not yet been revealed. This is so because even though they all claim they were middlemen in the business, a school of thought holds that the police should investigate the matter with seriousness. And the escapist Nyamsay Isa should be fished out to get his own side of the story. (To be continued)…..

The 30th Anniversary of the CPDM was celebrated in the Dong Mantung IV (Misaje Sub Division) under the theme: “CPDM, 30 years at the service of Cameroon, and still promoting peace, unity, democracy and progress” This theme, according to the CPDM resource person for the section, H.E Dr. Fuh Calistus Gentry is a clarion call for the preservation and consolidation of the values of peace and stability which is a prerequisite for economic growth and sustainable development.
Dr. Fuh Calistus: CPDM Resource person
Minister Fuh Calistus emphasized that at a time that Cameroon is faced with insecurity and threats from the deadly Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the Northern part of the country, it is therefore imperative that all Cameroonians get patriotic and rally all their support behind H.E President Paul Biya in his quest to put an end to the barbaric acts of this sect, so that the peace and stability the new deal government has always defended and preserved is restored.
March 24th, 2015 was historic in Misaje as activities marking the 30th anniversary celebration of the Cameroon People Democratic Movement in the Donga Mantung IV section-Misaje started with March session of the Misaje Economic and Community Orientation-MECO, a CPDM outfit whose main role is to orientate, promote and encourage community development through the concerted effort of all the political actors. It was a moment to take stock of the 2014 achievements and also to chart the way forward.

Another key aspect of the meeting was a hand of fellowship the CPDM party extended to the 10 victims of the fire disaster in Dumbu for which a total sum of seven hundred thousand was put the disposal of these victims as a sign of sharing in their ordeal.

The CPDM resource person, Minister Fuh Calistus Gentry highlighted some of the major development projects like the linking of Misaje to the National Electricity Grid in Nkambe, the construction of a giant multipurpose youth center, the construction of a community education and action center and the construction of classrooms in Misaje Sub Division just to name a few. As a justification to why Misaje is benefitting this much from the new deal government, the CPDM resource person indicated that it was as a result of the right choice of a party, the CPDM, an experienced, qualified, committed and selfless Mayor and above all his collaborative nature both with him and the Central Administration and also on the emphasis laid on project studies which is a prerequisite for the new system of budgeting in Cameroon. He observed that there has been a very mutually benefitting partnership between the CPDM party and the Misaje people worth preserving and consolidating and preserving and as such urged all militants to strengthen this alliance and partnership with the new deal government for to him; the CPDM party does not fail those who share its vision and ideology.
Misaje being a Frontier Sub Division with the Federal Republic of Nigeria has got all the reasons to stand firmly against this deadly Islamic sect-Boko Haram. “Together lets rally behind our great party under the distinguished leadership of H.E Paul Biya to fight and eradicate Boko Haram for a peaceful, stable and prosperous Cameroon”, he concluded.
On his part the Mayor of Miaje Council who doubles as Section President called on the population to be vigilant given that the fight against Boko Haram demands collective efforts. He said any suspected case should be reported to the administration, Police, Gendarmes, mayor, councilor, and or the traditional rulers.

Fight Against Boko Haram: NW CPDM Elite(s) Raise 80 to Support the Military Amidst Controversy

CDPM elite(s) of the North West Region have organized a four-in-one ceremony in Bamenda to support government in the fight against the terrorist sect Boko Haram. The event which started with an ecumenical service to pray for peace, a fundraising to boost the morale of soldiers fighting Boko Haram, ended with a peaceful march from the Bamenda Congress Hall to the Commercial Avenue. Baba Danpoulo alias Ndawara donated a total sum of 15 million FCFA while the  Yaounde CPDM elite(s) meeting donated 15 million as well. Holding under the patronage of Yang Philemon, Prime Minister and Head of Government, the Bamenda event also recorded some disenchanted voices.
It is interesting to note that some North West elite(s) who showed up at the Bamenda Congress Hall were taken aback when they noticed that the banners carried different messages. SDF mayors for example described the incident as a political ambush by CPDM militants. “We have to go back because this event has been CPDMized”, Jakiri mayor Jaff Romanus hammered. The mayor of Nkum, Bambui, Ndu and a handful of others disappeared from the Bamenda congress in anger. “We received invitations from the Prime Minister’s office to attend this event as North West elite(s) but I am disappointed that the event has been transformed into a political meeting of the CPDM. “We are North West elite(s) and not North West CPDM elite(s). Ndansi Elvis Nukam, national Youth President of NUDP also weaved his left hand to the event after having travelled from Yaounde. “I am National Youth President of NUDP and from all indication; I am not supposed to be here when judged from the banners. The fight against Boko Haram concerns all of us, but what I am seeing here is the anniversary of the CPDM”.
On the other hand, members of the Northwest Civil Society also expressed disgust. Awah Cletus, of the Coalition of North West Civil Society said that when they got to the Bamenda Congress Hall, the banner that greeted them was something else. “We are going to channel the funds we collected from our members to support the cause to the Presidency of the Republic”. Awah Cletus alias AC Risky also said that it is time for Cameroonians to know to make a clear-cut between the ruling party and government.
Even within the CPDM, some militants also expressed their frustration the way party issues are managed. Gerard Ngala, Interim CPDM section President for Donga Mantung I decried that communication is not flowing. He said that even though he is section President, he was never informed of the Bamenda meeting. Yaounde elite(s) he decried have been observed keeping information only to themselves. Gerard used the opportunity given him to announce his support to challenge the so-called Yaounde elite(s) in the way the handle party issues. He pleaded on Yang Philemon to make sure that communication flows given that even the grassroot militants who might have made a significant contribution were not informed.

Donga Mantung: 24 Years Old Electrocuted to Death

Fai Joseph
By Eric Tabah alias Titanic

An atmosphere of uncertainty looms in Ndu, Donga Mantung Division of the Northwest after a 24 years old achaba rider was electrocuted to death. According to what we gathered, Fai Joseph Nfor aka Bobo Jojo was trying to connect electricity from the neigbour to his own house when the cold hands of death snatched him from this world.
Last week, the entire Njiptop quarters in Ndu was gloomy as many were lamenting the untimely death of one of them.
A family source hinted that at the time young Fai Joseph started working on connecting the cables there were no lights. Ignorant of the fact that electricity doesn’t signal when it is coming back, he was using his bare hands on cables. Unfortunately he was killed on the spot. Bobo Jojo, it should be noted was married and father of four.
The rampant electricity cuts in Donga Mantung Division have reached crisis level. There is no single day that the area records less than 10 electricity cuts per day. Many are blaming his death on the electricity supply company which switches off electricity with informing its clients.

Dr. Nick Ngwanyam makes an anatomy of the Youths’ Problems in Cameroon, President Biya’s address to the Youths, and challenges Adults to Sit up and chart a better way for the Youths.

Dr. Nick Ngwanyam
This interview is Courtesy of CRTV’s 60minutes program with Mr. Wain Paul Ngam

Today we will be focusing on young people, the future leaders of Cameroon who on February 11, 2015 commemorated the 49th edition of the National Youth Day. One Wiseman has said that the danger that confronts the younger generation is the example set by the older generation. Are we even conscious of the fact that we need to set examples for the younger generation, and what kind of examples? That is one of the issues Dr. Nick Ngwanyam would be addressing in today’s interview.

When I keep reminding myself that I am a youth, it gives me the energy to work. I am getting on to 59 and if I am still a youth that is fine.

Talk to me about your days as a young person. You are still a youth as you have said, but there was a time when you were an active young person.

In fact when I say I am a youth, it is just for the sake of joking. When you are beyond 40, you are no longer a youth. I think it is understood that you should go to school and get all your capacities put in place so that by the time you are 24, 25, you start working. So we expect the youth to start working from the time they are 24, 25. They should start making money, they should start putting in place their companies, businesses and investments so that by the time they are forty, they should see clearly what they were doing. They would have been married with two or three kids and have a sense of direction so that when they are fifty, they should actually be retiring from active work.

When you say retire, it does not mean you go to the village, that is you change that kind of activity which must have been strenuous; then you redefine something else and you start working at a different pace when you are fifty. You probably go to school and learn different skills and you start doing something in a more relaxed way. So many people get at fifty when they are not yet married because of the lost opportunity.

At what age would you like a young person to start behaving like an old person?

I do not know what you mean by an old person; behaving like an old person. I would imagine you want to say at what age should a youth start being responsible. You are assuming that old age comes with wisdom and responsibility and in Cameroon, you would find out that there are some people who are very young and very responsible and yet there are some people who are very old and very irresponsible. So old age in Cameroon does not equate to wisdom and that is a huge problem because a lot of young people have been looking up to people who are older hoping that they have wisdom. These are people who do not have wisdom and this is the reason why our youths are disturbed and lost.

Disturbed and lost because of you; yesterday’s youth do not want to probably bring them up. You want to eat the gizzards forever.

The problem here is that we do not know how to hand over the baton. Life is a relay and the way God made us, we are made in batches and we sit on this conveyor belt that goes from one station to the other.

Gwe Philip, Fonfuka Mayor Who Talks Development But Doesn’t

By Axcel Folian
Gwe Philip: Fonfuka mayor
The word development they say is the easiest way to fame even though it is complex. Many a politician have used this word to grab votes and later sink into the debris. In fact, development makes strange postmasters. The mayor of Fonfuka council in Boyo Division of the North West Region is a lousy development luminary in words rather than in actions. Last month, North West Governor, Adolph Lele Lafrique was in his municipality to wrap up his socio economy tour. But a critical examination of what Gwe Philip has done in terms of fostering development left observers with so many rhetorical questions. What really caught our attention was the fact that Gwe Philip could not take North West Governor and his entourage to visit some of his projects. Implicitly, he has done nothing. The lone project was the grandstand which he rehabilitated and the council chamber which was constructed by his predecessor. It is for this reason that the Governor and entourage had no other option but to visit GTC Fonfuka, GHS Fonfuka and the council hall. He on the contrary presented a basketful of problems to government without saying what he has been able to do. Notwithstanding, NW Governor expressed his disappointment by calling on traditional rulers and elite(s) to get involve in farming so that when he comes next, he could visit some of their projects. Gwe Philip, aware that he has done nothing used the visit to exhume the land dispute between Misaje council area and his. He is more into controversies than development actions. He even questioned how President Biya had the audacity to revoke the Presidential decree he signed in 1992 recognizing Kichiako (the disputed piece of land) as part of Fonfuka council. What a mayor? This has become a call for concern given that when the SDOs of Boyo and Donga Mantung visited the disputed area, they were threatened by irate Fonfuka youths carryout arms.
One of the major problems faced by elected officials is to perform the feat they preached to have votes. Seemingly, Gwe Philip has dragged Bum CPDM into a strange political phase where the incumbent, knowing that he has achieved a lot gave him the opportunity to pick the mayoral crown from the gutter and is robbing it with mud. In the past opponents in order to lure voters who lack critical intelligence now they have been given the assets. Never have we experienced this flagrant abuse of power by an elected mayor! It is simply unacceptable and un-mayoral. It is predictable for an imminent crash of the CPDM if elections were called up now. This is so because of the fact that the Mayor’ ethical sense of right and wrong has been crushed by the overzealous drive of his aim. Could we say the mayor is preparing to stage a spectacular comeback by marching words with actions? This is a situation that puts his political office into question like those of cockroaches that prefer to hide under piles of rubbish. Certainly, this is not a mistake that could be blamed on lack of knowledge.
Coming up soon: Inside Fonfuka Council….

What Do They Want in Cameroon “Ces Français?”

French President: Hollande

The Bible in Proverbs is an excellent source of wisdom regarding friends and truthful relationships. "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity" says (Proverbs 17:17). "A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24). This is so because in perturbation time, a friend like an iron can easily sharpen another iron. At this point in time that Cameroon has launched a fierce war against Boko Haram, it is important we sound alarm bells on the double edge drama of France. Even though we have seen many of such sarcastic instances that beg for answers such as the arms and munitions seized from Boko Haram insurgent by Chadian soldiers which turn out to be French made, the publication of the famous list by a French Catholic NGO, and the most recent publication by Le Monde.fr (online) about the health of President Paul Biya, the question is why blow the trumpet over nothing. The angst ignited by this infamous publication both from opinion leaders and the common man in the street is indicative that Cameroon has developed thick skin against French manipulation. Like a toad place in a heating tube that keeps adapting to the changing temperatures, Cameroonians have learned to be serene. In fact this issue brings forth many questions which are begging for answers such as what do they want? I mean France.
Why is France making a storm in a tea cup? Cameroon is not a country of scandals. Implicitly, President Biya should have gone on tree tops to inform France that he wanted to go for medical checkup if it were so. Naturally, President Biya is not a super human and could fall sick as well.
Some people always believe that they have ultimate wisdom and truth over us. Seemingly this has been the position of France, but this time, they have mistaken a tree for a forest. Is La France trying to play the ostrich? If that is their wish or plan, then they have failed woefully. That is the reason why Cameroonians started questioning and reflecting on the position of France, when French made guns surfaced in the hands of Boko Haram insurgents. The question as to why French President Francios Hollande has remained mute over this issue abound high. Of course, we need not to go to TB Joshua to give us the answer.
A critical judgement analysis of the relationship Sarkozy-Biya, Hollande-Biya, we do not need the services of a soothsayer to mitigate the clear and present controversy. Now, they try to hide this secret. They try to hide who they really are. They change tactics, adopt out and try everything they can to keep their dirty little secret. But watch the pattern stay the same. We are reminded of it everyday. It boils down to this, in order for La France to maintain their privileged position of power, the colonizer, God fathers; they are systemically an eye on Cameroon. Eeh Longue Longue can tell it better.  From a critical point of view, is this not to arrest development, and this is their area of expertise, the media. By now we should know who the enemy really is.

The disclaimer by Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of Communication speaks volumes. And for once, Tchiroma spoke the minds of every Cameroonian.  Public opinion in Cameroon however holds that this is an obnoxious plan to manipulate Cameroonians. Elvis Ngole Ngole is also of that opinion that it was a well calculated plan to distabilize Cameroon and it will not work. "This is a mercenary act" many have observed.

The Eye Newspaper into the Final of 2degrees Champions Awards 2015

March 16, 2015 was another exceptional day at The Eye Newspaper as we got another interesting email that started with the word “congratulations”. It was strange and fascination that the small idea that we initiated and launched last year in Nkambe during the The Eye Annual National Awards of Excellence/Donga Mantung Achievement Awards was into the final of 2degrees Champions Awards 2015, we couldn’t believe it. Yet it came to past that programme our small idea, huge impact had got international admiration commonly known as “A Clean Community Program”. The Eye Newspaper is into the Social Value Category.

What did we do
Given that the idea was part of a social communication strategy and sensitization strategy, we first toured the communities to announce the competition, carried out radio talk shows and then created a coordination unit to oversee the cleanup campaign in villages (communities), and the planting of trees. When the results announced and winners were handed basic equipment (wheelbarrows, spades, and cutlasses, hoes) to continue to keep their communities clean. The traditional rulers representing the various villages also received awards at a fun-filled National Award of Excellence by The Eye Newspaper in Nkambe.
This entry deserves to win due to its uniqueness and the impact that it has created within a very short time. It is a great initiative that should be considered at this point in time that Africa is witnessing emerging diseases like Ebola.
