Thieves Attack ELECAM Council Office in the East

The recompilation of voters register using the biometric system is reported hooked in the East Region. On November 20, 2012, we learned from credible sources that one council branch of Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) Kentzou sub Division in the Kadey Division of Eastern Region was ransacked in the night of Monday to Tuesday by unidentified individuals (thieves).
Classified sources hinted that the attackers were from other countries taking short security services of the small town of Kentzou and even those of the city of Batouri located a few kilometers away.
Sources say two complete kits for the registration of voters by biometric, two laptops, webcams, two usb keys and  office equipment and other consumables were stolen. However, it is alleged that the thieves later dumped the kits but took away the computers and the USB keys.There is uncertainty as to whether ELECAM will replace the stolen gadgets in time for registration to restart. More so, the fear is that if the kits dumped are damaged, they may not be replaced as allegations are rife at that there is a shortage in the kits.
