A Catholic Priest and hbishop of Bafia in the Centre region, His Lordship Jean Marie Benoit Balla has allegedly committed suicide by drowning self in river Sanaga. It is reported that his car was found parked at the Ebedda bridge and a note found in it. The note according to reports reads "don't be worried, am inside water". An atmosphere of doom now looms in Bafia as Christians in their numbers continue to pray for the Man of God.

Maurice is quoted to have said that, a priest of that locality was the one who saw and
recognised the Bishop's car by 1pm yesterday May 31, 2017 before calling his attention. At Press time, the search for the missing Bishop continues in river Sanaga..
