TB Joshua’s daughter called to the bar in the United States of America

Serah Oyindamola Joshua

Serah Oyindamola Joshua, is the first daughter of Pastor T.B. Joshua. She was called to the Bar this week in Nigeria having successfully completed the September 2015 Bar Final Examinations at the Nigerian Law School.  In an exclusive interview with The Guardian, Serah revealed that she will also be called to the bar in New York in January, having passed final examinations in November.
“I’m grateful to God, my family and friends, who have been of help to me. I am humbled and privileged to have succeeded. I am privileged and fortunate to be the daughter of such a humble and great man of God called TB Joshua. He is someone I look up to because my father is a man of God and he has been able to guide me every time I need him. I am so humbled to be his daughter. He has been a good guide. Thus, I can’t afford to disappoint him and God, because to whom much is given, much is expected.” Serah told The Guardian How does she react to comments about her father? She says,
“He is a true example of humility. I have seen so many character traits in him that are worthy to emulate. As a father, he is the best father anybody can pray to have. I am not just saying that because he is my father; this is just the truth. Also, it’s not what I think about him or what people think about him that counts but what God says about him.” She adds, “That’s why I said he is a true man of God and it’s not what people say that counts but what God says. Everybody has the right to air his or her opinion but God’s opinion counts most.”

UB Graduation: Thumbs Up Marie-Noel Manjuh

Marie-Noel Manjuh
Rudyard Kipling in one of his inspirational quotes said that “if you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and if you can meet with triumph and disaster and treat the two the same, yours is earth and everything that is in it”.  There is no doubt that Kipling had in mind the success story of  the brilliant young girls who have stood the taste of time to accomplish their dreams. Rudyard Kipling surely had this inspiration from the obstacles and barriers young girls repeatedly defeat to get to prominence especially in a masculine dominated world. At a time when most young girls are chopping their fingers dreaming of obtaining Advanced level subjects, Marie-Noel Manjuh is kilometers ahead. Manjuh just finished off her Accountancy degree at the University Buea-UB in flying colurs.

Celebrations were at fever peak as her family members and friends joined her at weekend to rejoice over the milestone achievement. In the past, when the education of the girl child was a taboo, she would have dropped out of school after finishing primary school due to the obnoxious traditional practices. Marie-Noel’s success story will continue to inspire many young girls to understand the first husband a woman gets in life is education. Full with joy after passing these years away from her family, she attributes her rare achievements to her family. Achieving such a great feat through all the hard conditions is worth memorizing for posterity. Despite the challenges she wasn’t distracted from her goals and Shang Delphine remarks that she’s “very proud” of her dearest sister.
What manifestly catches your attention when you see Marie-Noel is her outstanding elegance. Being a good-natured accountant is that she knows only too well what is good. Yet she never hesitates to put on the best outfits, the most fashionable, the flashiest and the snazziest of shoes. Take it for audaciousness and you are off beam because you won’t fail to turn behind to look at her again in admiration that she is really prepared for her job as an accountant. But there is more to this substantial personality that Manjuh is than just stylishness. Her name speaks nobility.  This is principally so when we take into consideration her brilliant educational background and the efforts she deployed to stand out of the madding crowd of women in school. Education has no limit, from an accountant to an economist is not rolled out as she is still young and more very brilliant. What is important about this female young graduate is that her intelligence is a relic which makes her a webster. I won’t hesitate to declare she is a genius. She falls within the ranks of the new breed of young women born with extra abilities. So if we go by Albert Einstein’s description of genius of 1/10 inspiration and 9/10 perspiration, Marie Noel is a genius.

Ardo's Union, SODELCO Tackle Early Marriages, Child Labour, Catapult Baba Danpoullo

Baba Danpoullo in a chat with DO for Belo, Manchang Nicholas

Over 2000 delegates and 74 Ardos attended the joint meeting of Association of Breeders and Farmers-SODELCO and Ardo’s Union at Ndawara in Belo Sub Division on Saturday December 19, 2015. This year’s General Assembly brought in delegates from the ten Regions of Cameroon. Present at the meeting were the Divisional Officer for Belo Sub Division, Machang Nicholas, the Divisional Officer for Bum, the mayor of Belo, Tosam Bernard and the Alhadji Baba Ahmadou Danpoullo cum Special Adviser of the Ardo’s Union and Founder of SODELCO.
In a strong resolution, delegates at the Ndawara meeting vowed to combat the phenomenon of early and forceful marriages, child labour/trafficking and in order to be part of El Hadj Baba Danpoullo's innovative ideas to change lives positively for the Fulani, grazers and farmers of Cameroon. History was then recorded that the biggest lobbying force grouping Fulani grazers and farmers will henceforth achieve its objectives by empowering youth and women for the betterment of all. In this light, SODELCO and Ardo’s union debunked claims that they are marginalized in Cameroon. Speaker after speaker denounced that the Fulani people are not marginalized. To them, the fact that El Hadj Baba Danpoullo was recently ranked by Forbe Africa Magazine as the richest man Francophone African debunks that they are poor and marginalized. They also rejected claims by another association that the Fulani/Mbororo are indigenous people.
This according to the Chief Executive Officer of SODELCO is not tenable at all. Ardo Sule Bobo said that any other organization that is manipulating opinion on the situation of Mbororo people in Cameroon doing so irrationally. He also decried the prostitution of the title of Ardo given that it is nowadays sold to the highest bidder whereas in the past it was hereditary. He said the Fulani community will continue to support President Biya in the fight against insecurity. He also expressed gratitude the head of state for the continues support.
Those who took the pains to travel to Ndawara to be part of the Joint Annual General Assembly of SODELCO/Ardo’s Union went home more convinced that the future of Fulani youths especially the girl child will henceforth be brighter. Taking into consideration that nowadays, education is perhaps the most important gift a parent, state and governments can offer to the humanity delegates resolved to put youth empowerment at the forefront of its actions. According to the National President of SODELCO, Alhadj Ardo Yougouda Bouba Adamou, education is required in the performance of the most basic public responsibilities, even in farming, grazing and management of homes. Therefore, the education of Fulani youths will be the very foundation on which the association intends to foster sustainable livelihood. This decision was further corroborated by the SODELCO Youth.
The National President Ardo Yougouda said that they have been able to achieve a lot this year giving they also opened training workshops to empower youths. He said women have been given the opportunity to be part of decision making. With the overture of a gender balance approach within SODELCO/Ardo’s Union, there are hopes that life will not be the same with the youths who end up as herdsmen or go out for early marriages/forceful marriages. The issue of early marriages as well as some obnoxious cultural practices that reduce women to be for the kitchen was also discussed.
Addressing the over 2000 man-crowd at Ndawara, the Divisional Officer for Belo Machang Nicolas said congratulated SODELCO/Ardo’s union trappings. He however promised that he will channel the burning issues raised by the Ardo’s/ SODELCO to the appropriate quarters. Education, he emphasized is the principal instrument in awakening the child to cultural values, in preparing him/her for later professional training, and in helping him/her to adjust normally to his/her environment. In these days, according to Machang Nicholas, it is doubtful that any child may reasonably be expected to succeed in life if he/she is denied the opportunity of an education. He called on all the Fulani people to send their children to school because in situation, where the state has undertaken to provide it, is a right which must be made available to all on equal terms. Mr. Machang Nicholas used the occasion to express gratitude to El Hadj Baba Danpoullo and the national chairman of SODELCO Alhadj Ardo Yougouda Bouba for their innovative idea in fostering national integration. He cautioned delegates that the success of any association lies in two key elements. These elements of success according to the Divisional Officer are: competence, honesty and transparency. On the rampant farmer/grazer conflict, congratulated SODELCO for introducing improved pasture, adopting ranching methods and as such SODELCO should remain a powerful tool to promote development given that this year Belo Sub Division did not record any farmer/grazer conflict.
He cautioned the youths and called on them to report any suspected individual to the forces of law and order given the security issues.
On his part the mayor of Belo Council, Tosam Bernard expressed joy and elation at the innovative steps taken by the association. According to Tosam Bernard, the Belo council believes in private corporate partnership that will go a long way to change the lives of communities in the municipality. He congratulated Baba Danpoullo for his ingenuity and contribution in nation building, and creation of jobs.
Abdoulaziz on his part who was General Coordinator of the Annual event said that “the Fulani contributes the greatest share of the revenue given that they always pay jangali taxes. He however added that he was the first to denounce the fact that the Mbororo/Fulani are in a minority. “They are more than 2.5 million Fulani/Mbororo in Cameroon” he added. He sounded optimistic and added youths have been brought in order to ensure continuity. He said with SODELCO/Arod’s Union the future of the Fulani/Mbororo is brighter given that they work with everyone. “Due to the explosion of the population, we will embark on developing improved pastures as well as make sure that the girl child is given the opportunity like any other to go to school”. He said as parents, there is no better future if the youths are left behind in their efforts to build a better future.

We Need Better Communication, Not Civil War, Obasanjo Tells Pro-Biafra Agitators

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has stressed the need for Nigerians to embrace peace and dialogue instead of beating war drums, saying what the nation needs right now is better communication and not to go on another round of civil war.
Reacting to the spate of protests and demonstrations by pro-Biafra agitators in some parts of South-east and Lagos recently, the former president, who is also a civil war veteran, said: “Our differences could only be addressed when issues are discussed instead of going to war.”
He said, “We do not need another civil war. We had fought one before. I was part of it.”
Olusegun-Obasanjo-011615.jpg - Olusegun-Obasanjo-011615.jpg
Speaking at the unveiling of a banquet hall in his name built by Executive Vice President, Centre for Policy and Foreign Engagement, Dr. Agbai Eke Agbai, at the burial of his mother, Mama Enyidya Beatrice Agbai, in Abiriba, Abia State, Obasanjo said, “I saw with my eyes. I heard with my ears. I smelled with my nose. What we need is better communication. And I am here to communicate with you.”
He stated further, “What I enjoy most is the cultural diversity. Earlier in the week, I was in Benue State and I enjoyed the cultural dance. Since I arrived here yesterday I have enjoyed the cultural dances. What we need to address is how to reduce unemployment, how to reduce poverty, and how to hold our leaders accountable to their promises.”
Supporters of pro-Biafra groups had staged protests on major streets in Owerri, Onitsha, Port Harcourt and some other major cities in the South-east following the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who was ordered to be released last week.
Kanu, who operated an illegal radio station- Radio Biafra, had called for a separate state of Biafra.
The demonstrators, comprising members of Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), chanted pro-Biafra songs and war songs.
The spate of demonstration by the separatist groups was centred on an issue that had again exposed deep and longstanding ethnic fault lines in the country.
A previous unilateral declaration of an independent Republic of Biafra in 1967 led to a brutal civil war that left more than one million dead in nearly three years of fighting.

Latest Gossips from Cameroon…Wondering Whether Father Christmas Will Come..

My country People, happy Sunday to all of you out there. Let God’s abundant blessings reach your homes and hearts at this Xmas. During this period of advent, your Writtam-pen will remain grateful for your continuing support and prayers. Do you know that society is in essence divided into two groups of people – the liars and the lied to? The liars have motivations ranging from the benign (parents presumably) which your Writtam-pen happens to be one and the self- interested. But one group of liars that caught my admiration at this end of year are the politi(thief)cians.
These guys are funny; they always pretend that they can offer heaven when they cannot even give one hell.  Let me be blunt and call this the liar story. I’ve observed evidence that the liar story is true. But people believe different things at different times and in different contexts. When I was writing this piece my little son ran to me and asked when Father Christmas was to visit them. I thought of telling him that there is nothing like Father Christmas and then babbled round and round. The young man left my keyboard happy that Father Christmas was going to bring him something. I don’t know whether there is someone around the corner who can tell us whether Father Christmas existed or not? I am just wondering.
In fact, if you are a physically powerful advocate of the conspiracy story, you may not believe that this is the case – you might think that if I had confessed to have lied, though we all tell the same lies to our kids at Christmas. The funniest thing is that when my daughter appears in from of me, she instead gave me Father Christmas’ telephone number. “Daddy please! Do not forget to call him oo”.
You writtam-pen is not a science student, but worried that there is one thing science can’t do. That is tell us what stand to take on science as a come within reach of to truth. Some scientists and philosophers of science will deny this and say that of course science tells us how we should approach our lives and the rest of reality. Obviously, science tells us that we should do it scientifically. But when they’re saying that, they’re not doing science – they’re doing science journalism, or maybe science advocacy. OMG
County people, the week ended with the Members of Parliament and the Senators packing their bags back home after spending a month in Ngola battling over their allowances but your Writtam-pen is aware that some MPs continue to frustrate people with lies. Others have switched off their phones as soon as their allowances were paid while others just disappeared into the quarters in Ngola to drink their lies in beer. I know when of them who pledged FCFA 25.000 since August and has been unable to comply to his promise. Chaiii!
I told you that Popoul is a very smart fellow. The man has again sent the Sparrow hawk on roofs waiting to make new catches at Xmas. I hear frail looking Mbapes Bapes, the arrogant Mebe Ngo and others have been on hot seats. It’s a pity. I think Popoul should do same to all those guys who have been suspected of having pocketed our gombo so that they can sit up. Popoul has finally discovered a panacea, a psyche-test of honesty.
Do you know that Cameroon behaves like a jungle? In the jungle life is short, uncertain and the fruits thereof are uncertain given that everyone is suspicious of everyone. Many people including your Writtam-pen have been questioning whether it is not a government policy to allow things to go wrong? Our CAMIARCO has been in a state of comma for long. I am sure it may soon kick the pocket as some costumers have gone on hunger strike. What a jungle-like country with passengers sleeping at airports? Passengers who were stranded in Paris have been weeping.
Talking about life in the jungle, have you ever heard of a jungle where the woman is the king? I hear the GM of CAMTEL is currently having hard times with the Minister of Post and Telecommunication, Likeng Li Minnette. Fantastic, isn’t it? Have heard about the missing GM of the Cameroon Port Authority? I hear a new GM has been appointed. The Board chairman I am sure is a superman. The man has seen many come and go, while he is still there.
Do you know that the Fulanis are becoming an alternative to creating and solving their own problems? Listen to Waai condemning another you cannot imagine. MBOSCUDA versus SODELCO/Ardos Union is like fire and petrol.
Kai walai, can you imagine that beautiful journalism and Journalese practices have reached its crescendo in Bamenda?  Those who took the pains to travel to the hills of Ndawara this Saturday to join Baba Danpoullo in celebrating his Forbe ranking as were not only taken aback by the state of nature of the road but by the way journalese-ism has chopped the profession. (Details of the Ndawara trip up next)

Meet Ndi Julius Yunwe: The Pragmatic Business Man

Ndi Julius Yunwe
In life they say a right person he/she who make things happen. These categories of people are those with independent minds, workaholics and those who like what they do. They have self-esteem and would do extra-ordinary things in a very common way. “It doesn’t matter how many times you fail. It doesn’t matter how many times you almost get it right. No one is going to know or care about your failures, and neither should you. All you have to do is learn from them and those around you because all that matters in business is that you get it right once. Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are.”  Says Mark Cuban, Chairman of AXS TV, Owner of Landmark Theaters.

Dignity, wise men have opined does not consist in possessing honours but in deserving them. This is to say that if you are by any stroke of historical accident, bestowed with honours that are unjustifiable; it makes no sense; for it is equivalent to putting a golden ring on the nose of a pig.
In a nutshell, Ndi Julius Yunwe aka Grand Julio is an exemplary young business man based in Bamenda. His peers say he is a business man par excellence not because he is a successful motor spare part trader but because he genuinely deserves such dignity and honour for being an exemplary young man in business. He has found success in creating his own opportunities. In doing so, he has grown from a small shop owner to a bona fide business mogul.
He is an able Abbot fit to be a symbol of whosoever on this planet called earth without any complex due to his high sense of contractual obligation and dedication in business.  This is so because this young man has been able to make buying and selling of motor spare parts an enviable business.
Meet Grand Julio in his shop the Bamenda Old Treasury Street for business chat and you will understand that you have met a genius. He has such a character that is rare to see young men reasons why he is succeeding. Commentators have often likened his business skill to that of Donald Trump.  Being elite of Mbum land Julius knows without being told that the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination to win or lose, as well as applying the best of ourselves to the task at hand.
As a business man who has trained scores of young men, Grand Julio is the emblem of the new generation as all hopes are usually in him as he would make sure that he scrutinizes every little thing. As a young man, he has succeeded where many failed woefully, given that he is also a football promoter. However that is not our interest for now. Our interest is that he is not a young man to pigeon-hole with when it comes to respecting business contracts, time and quality services.
Grand Julio
Ndi Julius is a multi-talented young business man. He is like Farfre in The Mayor of Casterbrigde given that every little thing he touches prospers. This apparently explains why many youths admire him and calls him, “The Role Model” because he advises his peers and even elders in business edeavours.
Because of his judiciousness, unassuming nature, God fearing and straight forwardness, Julius is often described as somebody who loves his profession to an extent that he drinks business, eats business and dreams business.
But being a workaholic by nature Julius knocked on doors and established relationships with young man and women in the Diaspora who are willing to hire cars, buy new ones for their families etc. He was again trusted from clienteles all over Cameroon that you would hardly find him idling. He is trying to develop an entrepreneurial mind frame for kids, so they will consider starting successful for-profit businesses that are the key to the continued growth of Cameroon.
