ENEO Set to Curb Rampant Power Cuts, Improve Quality Supply in Bda II

For some months now, Bamenda II municipality has recorded recurrent power cuts. This is so due to the ageing installations and electrical network supplies. To remedy the situation, the electricity supply company, ENEO KICK starts a rehabilitation plan in the Bamenda II Municipality aimed at replacing wooden poles with metal poles as well as the replacement of low quality transformers and their accessories.  Within the framework of the implementation of this programme, Eneo Cameroon in the Press Release issued by the Regional Delegate for North West informs its customers in Bamenda II that it would begin intensive works on Tuesday.

The Press Release further states that:” a powerful team of Eneo engineers and technicians as well as 8 of its partner companies have been mobilized to execute these works.

The works consists of:

-         planting 50 metal and wood poles

-         replacing 447 insulators

-         replacing 12 protection devices 

-         Installing 20 new distribution transformers thereby replacing the former ones

-         Installing 35 crossarms

These works are going to improve on the service quality in the neighborhoods concerned notably by reducing the risks of drop in voltage in the localities concerned. Works will be executed in 3 phases. During the first phase from 16 to 18 May 2017 the neighborhoods and localities concerned are as follows: Ntaturu; Bali Parck; Azam; Nitop 2; Old Cenajes; CDE Mbatu; Travellers; Azeri New Church; Buea/Bamenda Street; Atuakum; Abango; New Bell; Metta Quartes; Atuazeri; Azeri Old Church; and Mbengwi Road.”

For safety purposes, the Regional Delegate for ENEO in the North West Region, Michel Mbopda further informs the population of these localities that they shall be deprived of electricity from 6am -7 pm. during operations, these localities will be deprived of electricity. This work, he emphasized in the statement “is part and parcel of Eneo Cameroon’s five-year investment plan that will be speed up in the North-West Region in view of the urgency of the situation, subject to the availability of funds. It should be recalled that a similar exercise took place in Nkambe where some wooden poles were replaced and the  old transformers changed. The rehabilitation helped in curbing electricity cuts and regularized voltage in the town.

Looking Glass: Nkambe-Ako Road Turns Deadly as Ghastly Accident Claims 1

I have often heard people say that it is forbidden to make a critical judgment analysis on the state of roads and that making such a critical judgment is like writing satanic verses that lead to divine sentence. But let the word go forth from this time and medium to the Minister of Public Works who is expected to launch some road projects in the North West region tomorrow May 16, 2017 that the stretch of road from Nkambe to Ako is calamity, calamity, calamity…. In fact it is the latest “dead trap” in the Division.

At about 11 am, today May 15, a Land Rover had a ghastly accident on that road claiming one life. The driver of the vehicle Bala Seidou died on the spot and was consumed by fire. The story goes that Bala Seidou was on his way to Berabe market with his usual customers. While at the Ntumbe in Kungi, the Land rover had breaks failure. He managed and hit it into the gutter due to the poor state of the road. The passengers who were in the car jumped out. Considering the gravity of the shock, the steering wheel blocked him. The vehicle caught fire and all attempts by the passenger to rescue the driver flopped. He was then consumed by fire.  This is however a dilemma as traveling from Nkambe to Ako is not just a nightmare but demands a week of serious fasting and prayer because you never know when you will get to your destination.The ghastly motor accident which occurred approximately 4 km away from Nkambe town tells the story of how bad the road is very bad ahead. Tongues are still waging in Nkambe over the accident as many have been wondering over the state of nature of that road. 

However, anyone who would maladroitly declare that this road is not a necessity or a priority should be considered as being in a state of sin. Even though there is a statement in the Bible which states that people should not pass round for judges on others, I believe it is often quoted out of context because the Bible still tells us that people should be judged if their acts are injurious. I am aware that this critical judgment analysis is badly needed. It is imperative because the people of Donga Mantung are in tears again and the bells of anguish are being heard signaling that Ako may cease to exist in the map of this country due to the state of nature of the road. That is tragic but a kind of insane horror like this road which sometimes ago, the Member of Parliament for Ako Hon. Abe Michael, the Mayor of Ako Council Akio Augustine and the Divisional Officer decided to go up to the road to carryout road maintenance with hand tools. The present state of nature of this will will soon make Ako Sub division an Island on land. Yet the economic potentials of Ako cannot be neglected. Ako is the breadbasket to Donga Mantung Division and environs. It is the citadel of palm oil and by-products. It is rich in non timber forest products and more so oranges, maize and cocoa is cultivated in large scale in the area. Besides, Ako custom post used to generate the highest revenue in the region. With the present state of nature, it is feared everything is declining. More so, speculations are high at that more than 75% of farm produce in that area may end up in a waste due to lack of access road as it has turned into a dead trap.

Macron Dribbles Book Makers, Names Edouard Philippe New PM

President Emmanuel Macron who was installed yesterday has named Edourd Philippe as France’s new Prime Minister. The 46 years old mayor of the Northern Port of Le Havre is a Centre-right republican yet won Macron’s confidence for the top job.  It should be noted that Philippe is said to be a right hand man to Alain Juppe. Before he became mayor, he is said to have worked in the private sector and co-wrote a political thriller with Gilles Boyer. His appointment to the top job has watered down speculations and expectations that President Emmanuel Macron was going to name woman as Prime Minister. However, reports say there is diversified political opinion over Philippe’s appointment. BBC Website quotes Alain Juppe as saying that the new PM is “man of great talent”. Yet Republican party Secretary General Bernard Accoyer has a different view, “ will this new Prime Minister support the President’s En March candidates or candidates of his political family”, he is quoted to have asked.

Arsenal Fans Wage War Against Arsene Wenger

Arsenal fans in the United Kingdom are currently mounting massive pressure on the leadership of the North London club to axe Arsene Wenger over the horrendous performance of the club in the English Premier League this season.

Arsene Wenger has called on Arsenal fans to turn out in force for Tuesday’s game against Sunderland rather than take part in a boycott designed to hasten his removal as manager of the London giants.

 The veteran French boss has still to announce if he will be staying at the Emirates Stadium when his current contract expires at the end of the season.

 The Gunners have just three games left before their campaign concludes — two in the Premier League against Sunderland and Everton before an FA Cup final newly-crowned champions and London rivals Chelsea.

 In marked contrast to the Blues, Arsenal have not won the English title since 2004 and Wenger has come under renewed pressure this season with his side in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League.

 Arsenal have finished in the top four of every full season since Wenger took charge 21 years ago but, after Liverpool’s 4-0 win at West Ham on Sunday, they now need slip-ups from either the Merseysiders or Manchester City to help them maintain that proud record.

 This season has already seen a number of ‘Wenger out’ protests by supporters groups, including planes flying over grounds carrying messages urging the 67-year-old to quit and marches before games, with some empty seats visible at recent Emirates fixtures.

 Now there are calls for a mass boycott of Tuesday’s match at home to Sunderland. But Wenger, who yet again refused to comment on his Arsenal future, said Monday: “My message is always the same, it is to support the team.

 A statement on onlinegooner.com suggested that Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone or Juventus’s Max Allegri would now be better at managing Arsenal than Wenger.

 The statement then asked fans not to turn up at the game against the Black Cats.
