Members of CPDM Senatorial Youth List Congratulate Regina Mundi

Press Release

MEMBERS OF THE CPDM SENATORIAL YOUTH LIST CONGRATULATE
MME REGINA MUNDI ; LIST LEADER FOR CPDM SENATORIAL LIST FOR THE NWR
We the members of the Youth and Women’s List for Senatorial Elections of 2018 sponsored by Dr. Nick Ngwanyam and headed by Dr. Peter Ndonwie, hereby declare as follows:
We sincerely congratulate Madam Regina Mundi for having been selected by the CPDM Party hierarchy to head this list of would be senators from the most important political bastion of the nation. She will thus be the number one senator of the nation.
We fully pledge our support to her because of her motherly care, her ability to listen to youths and the grassroots, her sense of sacrifice to the nation over the years in spite of being seemingly left in the cold.
She cares about youths and their problems. She worries about women and their challenges and hardly sleeps because of the current problems plaguing the nation.
We strongly believe that she epitomizes the voice of the youth as she moves to the decision making assembly. She is God fearing and will truly represent our interests and worries at any decision making level she finds herself at.
We thus give her our unflinching support and call on all councilors no matter their political inclinations to support and vote for her come 25th March, 2018.
A vote for Mama Regina Mundi is a vote for Peace, Unity, Solidarity, Development and Progress.
Signed
Mme. Lenga Jessicca
Mr. Che Ndaka Nicolas
Dr. Peter Ndonwie
Dr. Nick Ngwanyam, MD
Done this 9th day of March, 2018 Bamenda.

Senatorial 2018: Campaigns Begin Tomorrow

After the publication of lists by Elections Cameroon, various political parties are expected to kick start campaigns tomorrow. The 252 candidates who are vying for the 70 seats into the senate are finalizing last minute strategies on how to entice voters. For two weeks, councilors will be cajoled and pampered by the various contenders and as usual money will change hands in the darkest abyss.
Speculative reports say the ruling CPDM may grab the 70 seats due to the fact that they control majority of the councils in all the regions. Jean Nkuete, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the CPDM is quoted to have told the 10 regional permanent the party today that they are in a competition and the objective is to win.
In the North West region, four political parties, the CPDM, SDF, UDP and NUDP will compete to win the seven seats reserved for the North West Region.

Women's Day Celebration: Meet Nkenda Margreta, The Award Winning Oil Pam Farmer

Nkenda Margreta: The Role Model worth celebrating
ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, made it clear in a statement today to mark International that rural women must not be overlooked in policy decisions. We therefore decided to put our spotlight on some of these women who have been feeding towns and cities. And they contribute enormously to food security, agricultural production and the management of natural resources. One of such women is Nkenda Margreta. She is today a household name when it comes to the cultivation and processing of red palm oil in Donga Mantung Division. Nkenda Margreta won the first prize palm oil at the Ebolowa National Agro-pastoral show for palm oil. The fact that she competed and won the prize wasn’t by error but the fruit of her hard work and determination. This distinction at the National Agro Pastoral Show also placed her on the ladder of fame as she was voted Donga Mantung Woman of the Year by readers of The Eye newspaper, Best Farmer by listeners of Savannah Radio Nkambe and again Best All Round Farmer by readers of the Watchdog Tribune.

It is thanks to Nkenda Margreta that President Biya instructed the late GM of CDC to kickstart the Oil Palm Expansion programme in Donga Mantung Division. By winning the national first prize in palm oil, she created the needed awareness that Donga Mantung Division has suitable climatic conditions for the cultivation of oil palms. Meet her in her plantation and you will be filled by the gulp of having met a professional farmer. To her farming is not just a profession but a calling.
However, what makes her different is that she is a very hard working woman and besides being a house wife, she moved above men established artificial barriers to create an oil palm plantation. In Misaje where she hails, women hardly own plantations but she has not only defeated that notion but is inspring other women and young girl in the entire division. She is a practical example of the long established slogan that “what a man can do, a woman can do it better”. With over 10 ha of oil palms, Nkenda Margreta says her dream is to expand her plantation to about 25 hectares. What is however very interesting is that she has a very good knowledge on local processing techniques. Anybody who has had the opportunity to come closer to Madame Nkenda Margreta would agree with me that she is a professional farmer given that she envies nothing from those who work in offices, “my office is my farm”, and she once told us.

Women's Day Celebration: My Congratulations Letter to Dynamic Women

According to the UN, International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities.

It is also a measuring rot for the UN to see how to accelerate the 2030 Agenda, building momentum for the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially goal number 5: To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls; and number 4: To ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.
But with us at The Eye Newspaper we believe that there is nothing more important than taking advantage of today’s celebration to commit to memory the efforts of some outstanding women who have played significant roles in their communities, jobs, professions etc.
Today March 8, 2018, we are repeating the same statement to our mothers, sisters and wives that real men will stand by you all to accompany you throughout the year and not just in a single day. Notwithstanding, it is worthy for you all to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements you have made since the Beijing Conference. It is now more new that every little achievement of yours has impacted lives in your homes, community, Division, region, Nation, continent and the world at large.
My dear mothers and sisters, in 2016 when I was attending a wedding in Yaounde, one wise politician, (Sa Majeste Michel Kamse, Mayor of Yaounde III) inspired me alot when he turned to advice a couple at wedding. He said “beauty lies in a smile, kindness, actions and deeds”. Every time I think about millions of women who feed the towns and cities with just a hoe, or whenever I think about those courageous women who stake their lives for humanity, my thoughts alays take me back to what Mahamat Ghandi said.
Dear celebrants, ladies and gentle women. Please permit me contextualize this statement by the Mayor of Yaounde III by adding that the little you have been doing is what is changing the face of humanity and the progress that we have registered. I salute you for your bravery. On this memorable day and the days to come we at The Eye Newspaper will continue to look up to you as the emancipators. From a distant, you stood out of the madding crowd in a world where men claim their position next to God. In fact, this issue whereby in some homes, along streets and in drinking spots we still have men who transform themselves into Mike Tyson to turn their wives to bunching bags should end this year. And those who play the “kabba jerk” should also take note that the jerking of kabbas on women’s day is old fashion way of celebrating.
This symbiotic letter is to salute millions of women who have moved above the male artificial barriers to becoming Ministers, Directors, Senior Divisional Officers, Parliamentarians, development experts, lawyers, journalists, pastors, shoe menders, builders, mechanics, housewives etc. Apart from the fact some of you are caring mothers in your various homes, you are all nation builders. Above all, you are role models to other young girls. However, since charity begins at home, I would like to use this opportunity to pay respect, appreciation and love to the woman who brought me to this world, my mum, Regina Muchop as she is known by her young girl’s name. Happy Women’s Day Mum and to my to my personal person, my better half, Beri Comfort, I say thumbs up for constantly challenging the blind exercise of power for me to understand that no institution is immune to change. The story of other women who are doing extraordinary things in a very common manner will continue to inspire society. I salute you all, especially Minister Mbah Acha Rose, Prof. Nalova,  Hon. Esther Ngala Ntala, Regina Mundi, Emma Lafon, Edith Kaah Walah, Prof. Uphie Melo Chinje, Caroline Bih Bongwa, Col. Ngah Rose Angeline, Yaah Patience Tamfu, Mafor Yaah Achidi Achu, Mary Awudu Ngayi, Sally Ebot Gentry, Christelle Bay Chongwain, Amy Banda, Enaka Yembe, Mbinglo Kimbi Maureen, Comfort Musa, Nakinti Besumbu Nofuru, Angela Fobi, Oba Rose, Clauddia Nsono, DBG Manka'a Nfor Winifred Laye, Nkenda Margareta, Clemntina Yong, Brandy Kiki, Mpara Faith, Ada Mbah, Noela Lyonga, Kekwi Linda Kanjo, Wanja Cynthia, and million others.

PhotoNews: Grand Mother of Wimbum Tradition Displayed At Public Presentation of Ngarum Fon

It was a moment of ecstasy and awe-inspiring one, and a historic one that some people witnessed it for the first time. People traveled from far and near not to miss the public presentation of the new fon which goes with a lot of dignifying traditional and cultural displays. At about 8 am on March 3, the Ngarum Palace Courtyard in Donga Mantung Division of  North West Region was transformed into a beehive as thousands gathered to welcome the newly seated fon of Ngarum village.  Such is a moment of solemnity, a unique moment whereby the supreme authority of the village manifested it intelligence and at the same time looked into the future of all the villages in Mbumland.  In the line and directly behind the “Yenwarong” was the new fon. The Sheys and Tantohs will the power and everyone bows. The leader usually in red loin would announced to the frozen crowd and warns: “No body, no one!! Man or woman should ever try to pass his/her hand on his head. I said nobody whoever. Here is your fon, the lion, the tiger…..you can see for yourself that the palace is fresh. Nobody should ever try or attempt to have a negative look into the palace. Nobody, no man, no woman….The nwarong is watching and observing and if you dare, you know what awaits you. The nwarong has said that anyone who is here that has never had a baby should go back with a smile on the face.
The nwarong has also said that you will have good harvest this year and that the villages in Mbumland should flourish with twins”, the leader hammered into the ears of noiseless populace.
The “ye-nwarong” as the juju that accompanied the fon in his first public outing as commonly known in Mbumland took 1hour 33 minutes to move round courtyard. Those who were late could be seen in a mad rush from far distances because no one wanted to miss a glimpse of the first public appearance of the fon and or magnificent cultural splendor. More so not only to be told to get the message from the nwarong who may believe sees tomorrow. But as they approach the palace courtyard in that rush, no one asked them to stop yet they all got frozen, speechless and could only tip-toe to catch a glimpse of every little step. Directly behind the “ye-nwarong” as tradition demands was HRH Fon Nganji IV, “the lion; the tiger” who since his enthronement was catapulted to administer the village. This is so because the fon incarnates the lion and tiger which symbolize power.

(Pictures below only illustrates how Ta Sheys and Tantohs will power) and why such a title is full of dignity)
