Esu Land Crisis: Late Fon of Esu’s Letter Backs Alhadji Baba Danpoullo

Fon Buh II Joseph Meh, late fon of Esu wrote to the Governor of the North West Region explaining how Elhadj Baba Danpoullo, the proprietor of Eba Ranch won and has kept the confidence of Esi people. The letter which justifies the presence of Elba Ranch in Esu is dated December 1, 1997. Here below is the letter

Fon’s Palace Wimeh-Esu
Fungom Sub Division
Menchum Division
Northwest Province
1st December 1997

The Governor
Northwest Province

Sir,

A Declaration in Favour of Alhadji Baba Ahmadou by me, Fon Buh II Joseph Meh, Traditional Ruler of Esu, Concerning a Protest Letter dated 24th November 1997 signed by Kum Chu Bie Chrysantus, SDF Divisional Chairman of Menchum Division of the Northwest Province

Your Excellency,
Alhadji Baba
I have acknowledged receipt of a copy of a letter relating to the above captioned matter addressed to you and copied me amongst others, and have the honour to furnish you with the following facts in order to prevent the good name of Alhadji Baba from being soiled by a person with little or no sound rectitude who has no farm, no house and no children in the many schools in Esu.
By this I mean that the writer is an experienced and uncontrollable politician who is attempting to ruin the Esu clan by misleading the peace loving Esu people whom I have peacefully ruled for over forty-three years without bloodshed. He is always talking about war in Esu without knowing that if war comes, according to him it will first take away his personal head before anybody else’s. This fellow is an empty vessel which makes the loudest noise in Esu and causing bitterness and uneasy peace in Esu.
To the best of my knowledge, Alhadji Baba Ahmadou is making no arrangements to plant pillars in his ranch under my fondom. But whether he plants pillars or not, the area where he is working belongs to him as a hard working Cameroonian who is ambitious and is interested in the development of Esu clan. According to decree No 76.166 of 27th April on the administration of National land, Alhadji Baba Ahmadou has all the right to develop his land in whatever way he intends to do it.
Further still, according to the new constitution of the Republic of Cameroon, Law No 96-06 of 18th January 1996, Special Official Gazette  of 30th January 1996, page 5, I quote: ‘every  person shall have to move about freely. Subject to no statutory provisions concerning public law and order, security and tranquility” unquote. Therefore, the quack politician, namely Kum Chu Bie Chrysantus, is making fruitless and baseless protest against the personality and Cameroonian who is blameless to all what he is making mentioned in his protest letter.
Special note should be taken that the grant of land to Elba Ranch of Alhadji Baba was not a secret matter, but was done by the venerated traditional council of Esu including my personal self in our letter dated 17-07-1987 according to an application for agriculture and grazing land in my Fondom by Alhadji Baba dated 02/07/1986. Alhadji Baba since then had built permanent structures in Esu which remain Esu property and will never be possibly carried away from Esu. The broken bridge of Yemenong which disconnected Esu with other side of Esu was single-handedly built by Alhadji Baba Ahmadou. Those who took part in building the bridge were Esu people who were paid arge sums of money by Alhadji Baba. How then does the SDF Spokesperson in Menchum come out with the idea that Alhadji Baba doesn’t employ Esu people? One of Alhadji Baba’s house in Esu was built by Mr. Wung Samson Kum, a registered contractor who also employed Esu technicians for the construction of the project. This is to dismiss what the SDF leader in Menchum claims namely that Alhadji Baba does not employ Esu people to work for him. Mr, Kum Samson is an Esu man.
The SDF Divisional chairman seems to have forgotten that his party, the SDF advocates for non payment of taxes, economic blockades and “Ghost Towns” just to ruin the economy of the state. The SDF is also aginst foreign aid entering Cameroon. But the SDF Chairman in Menchum wants Alhadji Baba Ahmadou to pay taxes in Menchum all alone.
I do not support his unpopular ideas for the interest of justice, peace and foreplay of all my subjects. As regards the question of planting pillars in the raffia bushes belonging to Esu people and seizing land of farming land by Alhadji Baba raised by the SDF Chairman in Menchum, he does not know that this matter was thrashed out in a meeting chaired by the DO of Wum sub Division in 1987. Mr. Azeufak Gaston, some arms of the administration, all the quarter heads of Esu, traditional councilors and myself. Elba Ranch has come to stay while all raffia bushes along the Ranch remain the property of the natives of Esu. (see minutes of the said meeting which took place on 10th February 1988). Therefore, the matter should be regarded as ended because there exist no problem between the Elba Ranch and the owners of these raffia bushes. On the 23rd of August 1987, all the Esu people including their notables collectively received Alhadji Baba together with all his colleagues the graziers of Esu at the fon’s palace. They all feasted as Alhadji Baba gave them two fattened cows, food and several crates of assorted beer. Hot drinks and large sums of money were given as gifts to the traditional dances of Esu. Since then and over 10 years today, Alhadji Baba has been an Esu man and sometimes in 1989 he was decorated with a traditional robe by the Quarter Heads of Esu including a population of Esu dancers. During this time, Alhadji Baba was given a traditional title “Ngeduwungondele” meaning Quarter Head of Wango Ndele.
The allegation of appointing Ardos by Alhadji Baba and the Senior Divisional Officer of Menchum Division is a blatant lie. Allow me, Your Excellency, to inform you that the creation of Aku ardorate in my fondom was the general wish of the Fulani population, including myself, for the easy settlement of framer/grazier problems in our clan which we have succeeded together with our new Ardo Alhadji Jaja Nasamu who was recently installed by the Prefect for Menchum Division and was assisted by the DO for Fungom Sub Division in the presence of all Fulani people who came from all the four corners of Menchum Division. This means that it was a peaceful ceremony. The SDF chairman for Menchum Division should be held responsible for attempting to subvert Esu people and inciting them to cause (dangerous) problems with Alhadji Baba whom they do not only treat as my chum, but also as a son of Esu who intends to aid them financially for the many development projects in Esu, especially the GSS Esu, and the Esu Gayama farm-to-market road project.
During Alhadji Baba’s last visit to Esu, he hinted me of the arrangement at hand to provide electricity in Esu and the grading of Weh-Esu road. The SDF party is a national party and is not property of Mr. Kum Chu Bie Chrysantus’ father. He is doing everything to blackmail the national chairman of the SDF Mr. John Fru Ndi. The Menchum SDF Chairman is one of the uncivilized politician who promotes disunity between the quarters heads of Esu and should be brought before the law to be punished for the threats of war in Esu, and for making false allegations about the planting of pillars by Alhadji Baba. Investigations should also be ordered by the Governor of the Northwest Province through the Senior Divisional Officer for Menchum to find out if there exist a Prefectoral Order relating to the planting of pillars by the land commission in Fungom Sub Division of Menchum Division.
Lastly, Your Excellency, do everything possible, I pray you to open an investigation regarding all the false points raised according to decree No 78/263 of 4th April 1978 concerning the methods of regulating and settling farmer/graziers in the Republic of Cameroon. Since my enthronement as fon of Esu in 1954, I have never allowed myself to be used as a tool by anybody as contained in one of the paragraphs of the protest document by SDF Chairman of Menchum Division. I am speaking with all the pride as a shrewd ruker. His Excellency the President of the Republic admired my loyalty to the people of Esu and the state as a whole and decorated me with four national honours.
Thanks, while I pray Your Excellency the Governor of the Northwest Province to act promptly and help Esu people not to run into dangerous problems and conflicts as contained in the protest letter by SDF Chairman for Menchum Division.

I, remain
Yours faithfully
Fon Buh II Joseph Meh
Traditional Ruler of Esu

Political Fishermannia: 800 Militants Decamp from CPDM, NUDP to Join SDF #PhotoNews

Fru Ndi flanked by new converts
As 2018 approaches, the new form of political gimmicks is on the rise in the North West Region. The phenomenon of militants leaving X to Y party is actually the order of the day. On September 4, 2016, Ni John Fru Ndi, SDF Chieftain received 800 new converts at his Ntarinkon residence in Bamenda. The 800 new recruits according to reports decamped from the CPDM and NUDP to join (Papa Power's Suffer Don Finish).
The militants came from Nwa, Bamenda II and Batibo. The leader of the decamped-CPDM from Batibo, Mrs. Justine Atud, UNDP leader from Batibo, Edwin Keyaka and the CPDM team leader from Nwa, Elhaji Usmanu Magaji, said they decided to join the SDF because it has a bright future including the achievements registered this far both in parliament and councils.
The CPDM delegation from Nwa in Donga-Matung said deceit, lies telling, blackmail and neglect pushed them to decamp to the SDF.
“For over 30 years, CPDM top notches have been telling us President Biya will pay us a visit in Nwa. This has never happened.
Biya is growing too old to brave it to Nwa before God calls him home; but his opponent, Fru Ndi, has been to Nwa several times, slept there, ate and drank with his militants and he knows what we are going through. So, if we have turned our backs on the CPDM, nobody should blame us,” Usmanu Magaji said.
The Vice President of the National Assembly, Hon. Joseph Mbah Ndan, described the new SDF recruits as the finest and most reliable militants who are out for real political business.
“In the SDF, we debate, quarrel and remain focused always. This is where democracy triumphs. You are on the right path,” Hon. Mbah Ndam said.
The new SDF District Chairman for Batibo, Maurice Woriwum Mbah, expressed joy that the party is growing in leaps and bounds in Batibo. “We have integrated all of you today, and there is still enough space for Doubting Thomases,” said Woriwum Mbah. Earlier while welcoming the converts at his Ntarinkon residence in Bamenda, Fru Ndi praised them for their courage as he preached discipline. “We are a people with a vision to build this country when we take over power. As such, we cannot afford to be unruly.
In the SDF, which you have willingly, from the bottom of your hearts, come to join, indiscipline is not tolerated. You came on your own and we have opened our doors and arms so that we progress in nation building,” Fru Ndi noted and invited the leaders who resigned to attend upcoming NEC meeting as observers.

Political Activist Rejects the CFA Franc Arrangement!

By Felix Teche Nyamusa, SDF 2018 presidential hopeful (pending primaries)
Fellow Cameroonians, I aspire to politically and economically serve
Independent Cameroon not heading a province of France or that of some other Diaspora nation(s) as is the case with incumbent president Paul Biya and his predecessor Ahmadou Ahidjo.
Our country - Cameroon’s money/currency today as we all know and use, the CFA franc had been and still is pegged to the French franc/currency or Euro at a fixed rate (one euro=655.957CFA Francs) determined by France. Over 50percent of Cameroon’s finance reserves, since about six decades ago, are controversially made obligatory to be kept in the French treasury in France’s name. This means we (Cameroon) cannot take a loan to do business with using these huge reserves as collateral security since it is but in the French name. Our monetary decisions are therefore deplorably sanctioned by the French. BEAC, the Yaounde headquartered bank controlling the CFA franc of the central African states has french representatives within her governing board directly monitoring the finance policies here!
With all these restrictions, the only two ever past Cameroon presidents - late Ahmadou Ahidjo and incumbent Paul Biya (president since 1982 till date) are overtly French governors and nothing near sovereign Cameroon presidents with potentials of controlling our nation’s destiny to prosperity! The country is always in debts; lacks basics with Cameroonians, skilled and unskilled, of all ages escaping to the Diaspora for paying employment.
Fellow Cameroonians, if you vote me Felix Teche Nyamusa president of Cameroon in the 2018 presidential, all these debasing neocolonial schemes will be abolished! Under my leadership, Cameroon will have a currency of her own even if the other 13 CFA francs states fail to stop this continuous French finance and sundry subjugation, degradation. It is worth knowing that these CFA francs states, 14 in number, are found in central and west Africa and are said to have $ 2o billion held in trust by the French government – these countries are: Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Cote D’Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo .
Cameroon has more than enough economists, accountants, bankers, business analysts … such that with determination we will ably manage our finances, economy and control our prosperity instead of permitting foreigners to exploit our country as their farm as has been the case since the colonial era.
Rwanda, the Maghreb countries, Nigeria, South Africa etc are neighbouring countries with marked socio-economic progress buoyed by respective independent money policies and currencies. Nyamusa pledges to take our nation with your support to safe grounds.
Conscious of our humble stage of development, we will increase our agriculture dividends by constructing and maintaining roads for rural and urban transportation; manufacture and conversion to secondary and tertiary levels the farm, mineral and other resources within our territory amongst other unanimously aggreed targets.
It is embarrassing, absurd that the CPDM (former CNU) of Biya who have been in power for close to 60 years since independence still continue to rely on foreigners to establish bare “Identity cards” and similar chores! This is unacceptable - Cameroonians can more than undertake these!
We can’t wait for the overthrow of the notoriety of Biya/CPDM before the 2018 elections. However, the regime can neatly avert this impending ugly scenario by immediately embracing separation of powers! The Nyamusa for 2018 Presidential campaign wouldnot tolerate the CPDM traditional manipulation of the electoral time table!
Biya/CPDM squanders Cameroon resources under various guises (including his wife’s CERAC) to perpetuate himself and party in power. The consequences include no all-seasons access roads connecting the nation, largely unproductive educational system, Health Care here is nothing to write home about as Biya and his cronies regularly visit but health units out of the country at their slightest inconvenience. Cameroonians particularly youths and the downtroden, the time is now to stand up sustainably against mal governance like sister Africa countries and those elsewhere do, we cannot remain an exception!
Friends, if we cherish good governance, people and selfless leadership, a government with structures for sanctioning defaulting officials including the president and his ministers…, vote for “The Nyamusa for president campaign” - it starts from primaries in the SDF! We have to massively register with the nearest SDF ward in our respective vicinities throughout the national territory. Of great importance also is to register with ELECAM - this done, you will be able to vote for your candidate at the primaries and at the substantive presidential polls. The Nyamusa for president manifesto is contained in the book “Effective Democratic succession in Cameroon” now available in bookshops!
Comrades lets not spare again any more wrong doings of the CPDM/Biya inhuman regime for progress in Cameroon, this reactionary government that has turned majority Cameroonians into socio-economic slaves must be crushed by all means! Cameroonians, we will be better off managing our own affairs than outsiders doing it for us!
May God guide SDF, Cameroon!

Climate Change: Cameroonian Born Dr. Richard Munang Wins 2016 Africa Environment Hero Award

Dr. Richard Munang has won the 2016 Africa Environmental Hero Award after a series of faithful services rendered as United Nations Environment’s Climate Change Coordinator for Africa since 2013.
Dr Richard Munang was conferred the title on 1st September 2016 by the International Environmental Roundtable for Africa in Abuja-Nigeria.
The award was handed by Nigeria’s Honorable Minister of State for Environment Ibrahim Usman Jibril.
Speaking during a life interview this 7th September 2016, on CRTV\’s Cameroon this Morning, Dr. Richard dedicated the award to the entire people of the continent most especially his parents whose encouragement enhanced his strides.
Apart from the external support, Dr. Munang’s 8 years’ experience as an environmental expert, his humility and assiduity were added advantages to grasping the prestigious award.
Talking about innovations in the African Climate change policies the laureat said a simple network that brings together men, women and youths to fight against the continent’s challenges will likely be put in place.
For this to work, a partnership with the Government, private sectors, individual organizations will be empowered to have markets so that what is being produced in the continent could be sold in the continent. As such, ideas that can work in Cameroon could be shared in the Sahel, Burkina Faso, West Africa etc.
To him much will be put in place so Africa’s environmental space should become an opportunity for development, job creation, energy provision, solution to the world, so to achieve the Africa Agenda 2063.
He decried that Africa is the only continent with 65% un-cultivated land yet with 85% people living in abject poverty and hunger, (240, million people), even though with more than enough natural resources. The source of energy in the sub Saharan Africa could light the entire world but three quarters of energy consumed is foreign.

"Hundreds of thousands of people fall victim to human trafficking every year in Africa alone.
"Of the overall number of victims, 79% are s*xually exploited and the majority are women. The remaining 21% are coerced into forced labor, and the majority of these are men.
"In some parts of West Africa, the majority of trafficking victims are children under 18," said Kaigama, who is the archbishop of Jos and president of the Nigerian Bishops Conference.
"This conference must find a way to put an end to child labor in all its forms," the archbishop said, and also called on the Nigerian government "to declare human trafficking a national disgrace, and to take urgent and long-lasting measures to address its root causes.
"This in light of recent reports that 80% of Nigerian girls that reach Italy, do so for reasons of s*x trafficking."

Andriod Generation: New Iphone 7 Full Specifications,

The latest iphone 7 was unveiled yesterday with thousands of Americans storming the Apple office to purchase the phone.

So guys, technology giants Apple finally launched the much awaited iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus with all their specifications and price.
At a special event in San Francisco on Wednesday 7th September , Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus smartphones. The iPhone 7 specifications were not the best kept secrets, because weeks back we had leaked images and specs of the iPhone 7 here. These leaks and rumors were hardly able to tell the whole iPhone 7 story.

New iphone 7 features

The most eye catching features of the iPhone 7 are the camera upgrade, a new home button and the removal of the 3.5mm headphone as anticipated in the leaks

The headphones
One of the strangest decisions was to completely do away with the headphone jack or port, what you get instead is a pair of Lightning EarPods which connect via the charging port, and Apple's wireless AirPods, powered by a W1 chip. The Infared sensors detect when you put the pod in your ear, while motion sensors control the headphones to use Siri and detect your voice. Cool right?

The camera

The camera of the iPhone 7 was also upgraded to take better pictures in low light conditions, a new 12MP sensor that's 60 per cent faster and 30 per cent more energy efficient.
The iPhone 7 plus version comes with dual rear cameras. This would give increased quality when zooming a photo, this has been a problem for Apple for some time. The iPhone 7 plus has two 12MP cameras, one of which is a wide angle lens and the other a telephoto lens that can zoom 2X in high quality without using any software.
The secondary camera has been upgraded to a 7MP from the 5MP it has been for selfies.

The home button

The home button has been given a vibration-based taptic feedback system so it now vibrates when touched to give users feedback. The feature is already in use on the firm's MacBook laptops. It's also has the antenna bands moved to the edges form the sides as is the norm. This was talked about in the leaks, in an earlier post.
So with the major new features of the iPhone 7 stated we can go to the full specifications of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus.

'Juju Man' Who Uses His Cobra Snake to Catch Thieves

A traditional African healer has wow a large crowd while performing tricks with his cobra as he boasts he uses it to catch thieves.
Daudi Chimel
A traditional healer in Epworth, Zimbabwe has made a public demonstration as he boasted that he uses his cobra to catch thieves. On Monday the 'juju man' demonstrated his healing powers by cleaning a live cobra and making it take orders.
According to H-metro, Daudi Chimel, 38, who is originally from Malawi, keeps four live snakes and claimed the other three were on duty tracking down robbers. He said he basically uses the snakes to track down robbers.

“If a person comes to me with a problem of stolen property, I use the snakes to track down the culprits. I have four snakes but at the moment only one is present because the other three have gone for work.
“The snakes are harmless to people. They do not attack anyone as they even know and understand that we have neighbours.
“Even if they bite me, my blood is resistant to the poison because my grandfather performed a ritual on me to avoid being affected by the snake bite.
“I started practicing as a traditional healer in 1991 back then when I was still in Malawi. I did not attend school because my grandfather had already initiated me into the profession of healing.
“I came to Zimbabwe this year in June and I have been helping people since.
“Apart from helping people recover their stolen properties, I also help them in different problematic areas like finding jobs and sexual problems.
“I do not charge people for the help I render them but they only give me tokens of appreciation after they yield results.
“I do not help people to make money but it is in my blood and I feel mandated to help them. I used to stay in Mozambique before I came her but unfortunately the snake I used there died.” he said

When asked why he chose to use snakes as a tracking device, Daudi said:
“Snakes are powerful and fast that is why I decided to use them but I can’t really say that I chose snakes rather snakes chose me because they are embedded on my diploma so they are more of my spirit animal.
“I use eggs to feed the snakes and sometimes I give them chicken. They give me no trouble at all. I talk to them and they listen to my voice. It’s unfortunate that most people in Zimbabwe believe in prophets, they lack belief in traditional healers,” he said.
One Clever Chewila, claimed to have been helped by Daudi to recover his stolen property said:
“I have seen these snakes at work. I believe that he is a powerful sangoma because I recovered my property through him.
“I came to him for help after my generator and barber property were stolen.
“After two days, I found my property at the doorstep. I do not know who had stolen the property or what happened to them but I was just happy that I recovered my property,” he said.

Speaking on the claims made by Daudi, one of his neighbours said:
“He sometimes brings them outside but they do not attack people. These snakes are not for rituals or any wrong use but they are there to help people so they will not harm anyone.”
A passerby who was totally shell shocked said: “Uuuuummmm zvinotyisa izvi. Since my birth I have never seen such a thing. A mere man speaking to snake and controlling it like this man is doing is unbelievable. This world is surely coming to an end,”

Challenging Obnoxious Traditional Practices: Woman and Son Pays Price

In the past only those who visited cinema halls would tell stories of movies in which people are kidnapped at gun-point or tricked to unknown destinations. But nowadays, the story is very different as reports of people kidnapped at gun point are rampant in almost every community. Since 2013 when the Islamist group Boko Haram in neighbouring Nigeria began incursions into Cameroon, kidnapping of foreign and local nationals have steadily increased. The unstable security situation has served as a platform for other radical local groups with various agendas to thrive. While kidnapping and child trafficking had been common in the three northern regions of Extreme North, North and Adamawa, it is on the rise in the North West. While the dust is yet to settle over the case of little Happi Prety, a nursery school kid who recently died in the hands of kidnappers, villagers of the mile 25 area, located in the outskirt of Ndop are still wondering whether life will ever be the same again. This follows the kidnapping of a certain Regina Lagbor and her son Joel who were whisked off at gunpoint by unidentified men on the night breaking 21st August, 2016. The story goes that after a fire attack in 2015 that destroyed their entire house and belongings, and subsequent death threats, the pair had been living in hiding taking refuge in the houses of friends and church members. On the night of the attack, their host was brutally attacked upon return from using the external toilet. At gun point, she was severely beaten while her hosts were taken away to an unknown destination. The population immediately pointed accusing fingers at her family and traditional loyalists who had constantly clashed with her over her opposition to established traditional customs, practices and institutions. According to what we gathered, the rivalry was so deep and open to the extent that some traditionalists used to mockingly greet her like a chief (bowing and clapping their hands), openly saying that they had never seen a woman who considered everything about the tradition as bad and outdated. A member of her church group (whose name cannot be disclosed for security reasons) disclosed that “Ma Regi (as she was commonly called) will always insist that she will prefer to die rather than see her children go through the horror she has been through in the name of respecting family and tradition.” Despite the fact that the rich and middle classes used to constitute fertile grounds for kidnappers because of their ability to pay huge ransoms, kidnapping is now used to settle scores regardless of societal class. Some people have been kidnapped inside and outside their residences, on the streets, on the way to the farms, etc and in bright day light as well as at night. Other recent cases of kidnappings in the North-West region include: a primary school pupil, Asanji Romirro Andu, who was kidnapped near their home in Bamenda last November; and the son of a certain Maurice Viban whose child was kidnapped in the playground of Government School Bamkika’ai in Bui Division. When contacted for information regarding the disappearance of Ma Regi and her son, the central police station in Ndop refused to comment on the matter. We were asked to provide a list of specific information we required and they will contact us. All attempts to acquire additional information from the police and other state representatives have been fruitful. Usual excuses for failing to appropriately exercise their duties have been: the absence of specialised skills to deal with new challenges (such as kidnapping); and insufficient human and financial resources. The case of Ma Regi is especially troublesome as her friends testified that she had complained several times to the police and social services but no effective actions were taken. Various human and women’s rights advocates have constantly decried the lack of effective government actions to enable traditional institutions to integrate fundamental human rights and dignities into local cultures. On their part, most western embassies continue to warn their national to avoid visiting particular areas of the country for fear of being kidnapped

Pathetic Lamentation of Small Holder Tea Farmer in Ndu, Is PM, Minister of Agriculture Aware?

Tea farm belonging to Pa Monde
The European Union recently supported the Small Holders with a processing plant. The equipment was handed to the beneficiary by North West Governor yet something is seemingly wrong ass someone, somewhere doesn't want the project to take off. Popular opinion in Ndu holds that the Prime Minister, Head of Government Yang Philemon and the Minister of Agriculture cannot be talking of Second Generation Agriculture when small holder farmers are being tortured for making their part in nation building.
It is worth noting that the relationship between local tea farmers ( Small Holders' Schemes) and the the Cameroon Development Corporation-CDC was very healthy until 2003 when the tea sector was privatised to CTE. CDC assisted these Small holders schemes with inputs, expertise and even helped in the processing of their produce. When CTE took over, the relationship became unhealthy. One of the Small Tea farmers won the first prize at National Agro-pastoral show at  Ebolowa  in 2011.

The situation of Small Holder Tea farmers in Ndu has reached a crisis level. This is so because the Prime Minister Yang Philemon and the Minister of Agriculture have given a deaf ear to their plight. Of late, Pa Monde Michael was arrested and sentenced to 3 years imprisonment for allegedly harvesting tea leaves at the Ndu Tea plantation. Some years ago, five small holder tea farmers were arrested, detained and were later discharged and acquitted at the Appeal Court for processing their products locally. George Tando Tanko in a facebook post reports that Monde Micheal's tea farm has turned into a forest. Allegedly, this situation is happening as a result of repeated threats, intimidation and court cases masterminded by the management of Cameroon Tea Estates (CTE).
One of the farmers told us that government has abandoned them in the middle of the road. Yet it is estimated that more than 60 farmers have more than two hectares of tea plantation that is almost growing into forest. "We feel that we committed an error in developing these plantations", lamented. Last weekm councilors of Ndu council frowned at what they described as manhandling of tea farmers and vowed that the nonsense must stop.

Back2School: Seconday Education Minister Nullifies Fake Transfer of 367 Teachers, Principles to Follow

The Minister of Secondary Education, Jean Ernest Bibehe has nullified the transfer of 367 Government Secondary and High School teachers who faked transfers to other schools with the complicity of some senior staffs in that ministry. CRTV reported that the decision was made by the Minister of Secondary Education Jean Ernest Bibehe after a thorough cross check of their files by the Human Resource Management of the Ministry.
According to officials at the Ministry of Secondary Education, 369 files in question were crosschecked out of which only 2 were genuine. Moreover, out of the 369 files, only 146 teachers in question presented their documents as demanded by the Ministry.
It is but normal that the others did not border to present theirs since they are mindful of the foul game.
It was also reviewed that some of the fake transfers were orchestrated by some government officials. To this, the Ministry has embarked into strict investigation to track down the said unscrupulous agents.
The teachers in question are expected in their initial Schools latest on 1st September 2016, after which their Principals will have to establish certificates of resumption which will be forwarded to the Ministry of Secondary Education by 30th September 2016.
Any teacher who fails to adhere the call will receive sanctions from both the Ministry of Secondary Education and the Public Service. It is alleged a network operates in that Ministry that has planted agents all over the country who collect as much as FCFA 250.000 for transfers and about FCFA 300.000 for the appointment of principles for secondary schools and about FCFA 500.000 for high schools. A classified source hinted us at weekend that the Minister has also decided to review the appointment of secondary schools and high school principles. According to the hint, some of the principles will be demoted and sanctioned. There is heat in the Ministry as everyone is suspicious of everybody....

Mother Teresa Canonized at Vatican City

Mother Teresa, a Catholic nun who devoted her life to helping India's poor, has been declared a saint in a canonization Mass held by Pope Francis in the Vatican.
In a historic ceremony at the Vatican city on Sunday, Catholic church's Mother Teresa, who is revered for her work with the poor in India, has been proclaimed a saint by Pope Francis.
At the canonisation ceremony in St Peter's Square which was attended by tens of thousands along with 13 heads of state, Pope Francis said St Teresa had defended the unborn, sick and abandoned, and had shamed world leaders for the "crimes of poverty they themselves created".
Speaking in Latin, Francis said that "after due deliberation and frequent prayer for divine assistance, and having sought the counsel of many of our brother bishops, we declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint, and we enroll her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole church."
Catholics - including hundreds of blue and white-robed nuns from the Missionaries of Charity sisterhood founded by Mother Teresa - had gathered from around the world to attend the canonization of the church's newest saint, just 19 years after her death.
Pope Francis then delivered a homily, in which he praised Mother Teresa - "this emblematic figure of womanhood and of consecrated life" - for her charitable work.
"Mother Teresa, in all aspects of her life, was a generous dispenser of divine mercy, making herself available for everyone through her welcome and defense of human life, those unborn and those abandoned and discarded," he said.
"She bowed down before those who were spent, left to die on the side of the road, seeing in them their God-given dignity. She made her voice heard before the powers of this world, so that they might recognize their guilt for the crime of poverty they created."
For the newly-sainted Teresa, he said, "mercy was the salt which gave flavor to her work, it was the light which shone in the darkness of the many who no longer had tears to shed for their poverty and suffering."
She was an example to volunteers around the world, he said. "May she be your model of holiness."
In a departure from his scripted remarks, he noted that people "may struggle" to refer to her as "Saint Teresa." "With great spontaneity, I think we will continue to call her Mother Teresa," he said.
Cardinal Angelo Amato read a brief biography of Mother Teresa's work, then asked the Pope to canonise her in the name of the Church.
Pope Francis responded: "We declare and define Blessed Teresa of Calcutta to be a saint and we enrol her among the saints, decreeing that she is to be venerated as such by the whole Church."
The Pope said Mother Teresa had spent her life "bowing down before those who were spent, left to die on the side of the road, seeing in them their God-given dignity".
He added: "She made her voice heard before the powers of the world, so that they might recognise their guilt for the crimes of poverty they themselves created." He then repeated: "The crimes of poverty they themselves created."
Although critics have sought to portray St Teresa as a sinner and a hypocrite, her supporters have been just as vocal in her defence, challenging those critics to live their lives the way St Teresa did, before they cast the first stone.
She died in 1997 - aged 87 - and was beatified in 2003, the first step to sainthood.
In 2002, the Vatican ruled that an Indian woman's stomach tumour had been miraculously cured after prayers to Mother Teresa, despite the doubts of her husband.

World Health Organization Confirms Third Case of Polio in Nigeria

The menace of polio has reared its ugly head again in Nigeria as another case has been exposed in the media.

The World Health Organization has confirmed a third case of polio in Nigeria, Rotary Club said Monday: a crippled toddler found in an area newly liberated from Boko Haram Islamic extremists.
The West African nation that once was the global epicenter of the wild polio virus had been declared polio-free last year, along with the African continent. But two cases were discovered last month among refugees from areas recently won back by Nigeria's military from Boko Haram.
More cases are expected to be discovered in these areas. It is an indicator that Nigeria's war on polio cannot be won until it overcomes the insurgency by extremists who are violently opposed to Western medicine.
Rotary Club's field coordinator, Aminu Muhammad, told The Associated Press the new case was found in Monguno local government area. The others were further south in Jere and Gwoza. All are in northern Borno state.
Rotary is part of a new emergency immunization drive that vaccinated more than 1.5 million children last week in Borno, where WHO has said the virus has been circulating undetected for five years and where Boko Haram began its Islamic uprising in 2009.
The campaign is to spread across the country, with a plan to reach 25 million children before the end of the year.
But the U.N. Children's Fund has warned that about 1 million children are in areas too dangerous to access.

At Ndu Council Extraordinary Session, Councilors Condemn Malhandling of Small-holder Tea Farmers

Condemning the manhandling of small holder tea farmers at the Extraordinary Session of the Ndu Council which took place yesterday September 2, 2016 many councillors expressed annoyance over the incident, where Pa Munde was arrested, detained and sentenced to serve a three year jail term on drummed up charges.  The councillors said they are one in condemning the violation of the rights of farmers who are suffering for setting up small holder tea plantations. "We cannot let this pass, the cruel treatment of poor farmers by Cameroon Tea Estate” one of the councillors exploded.
Councillor Tume Samari questions the use of a slogan that promotes Second Generation Agriculture in Cameroon when small tea holder schemes are being tortured and the Ministry of Agriculture in is mute on the issue.  He cited the pathetic case of Pa Munde who was jailed on drummed up charges that he was spotted harvesting tea at CTE at night, when what his farms produce CTE cannot even buy all his tea leaves. He also added that some years ago, some tea farmers were arrested on grounds that the locally process tea they were marketing was toxic. “Should be CTE to determine the quality of a product of a different producer and to recommend his/her arrest”, he questioned. Individuals, families and communities are badly affected by the epidemic. He lamented that by frustrating these farmers, the burden falls on the families and children of those who were detained or sentenced unjustly. “Often they have already lost breadwinners for the family. What is the essence of the Ministry of Agriculture trying to boost agriculture when they cannot protect local poor farmers” he added. To councillor Samari, the Ndu man remains a very peaceful person.
The plight of small tea holder schemes in Ndu council area is becoming a major preoccupation as the Mayor, Bunyui Emmanuel Nyugap in a concluding statement of the worries raised by the councillors outlined that “palm bush never remains tall, because nothing will deter the population”. In an attempt to quench the anguish expressed by councillors, the Divisional Officer for Ndu, Achu George said the suspect (Pa Munde) was imprison for theft but failed to produce tangible reasons on how someone with a large estate should go bag in hand stealing tea leaves at night. The question many have been asking is whether one person can harvest tea leaves that could be sold at any price.
Execution of Ndu Council Budget Gets Positive Note

On the other hand, expenditure stood at FCFA 273.429.002 representing 39%. In his presentation to councillors, the mayor of Ndu council Bunyui Emmanuel disclosed that revenue collected locally amounted to FCFA 91.408.808 while transfer from the Council Mutual Support Fund-FEICOM stood at FCFA 144.013.474 while additional recurrent revenue stood at FCFA 214.711.976 with zero investment revenue. On the recurrent expenditure, the mayor revealed that it stands at FCFA 120.101.203 while investment expenditure is FCFA 153.327.799. He called on councillors, staff and other stakeholders to join hands together so that before the year closes the council could realize the budget in its entirety.During deliberations, councillors made proposals on how to intensify tax drive, jangali, market tolls etc and recommended new strategies.
He also presented the Ndu Council anti-corruption plan that will instill governance in communities.

After a Lifetime with the Poor, Mother Teresa Finally to be Made a Saint by Pope Francis

Next week, on the 19th anniversary of her death, the Vatican will declare Mother Teresa to be Saint Teresa of Kolkata in a historic event to be presided by Pope Francis.

One of the most iconic figures of the 20th century, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, is set to become a Catholic saint on Sunday in an open-air Mass led by Pope Francis. Father Brian Kolodiejchuk, the Canadian priest who promoted her sainthood cause, said on Thursday in Vatican that hundreds of thousands of faithful are expected to attend the canonisation service to be led by Pope Francis in front of St. Peter’s basilica.
According to Father Kolodiejchuk, her canonisation is one of the highlights of Francis’ Jubilee of Mercy. Affectionately called the “saint of the gutters” during her lifetime, Mother Teresa of Calcutta will be made an official saint of the Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, just 19 years after her death.
“The Church defines saints as those believed to have been holy enough during their lives to now be in Heaven and able to intercede with God to perform miracles. She has been credited with two miracles, both involving the healing of sick people," he said.
Father Kolodiejchuk said that Mother Teresa was one of the most influential women in the Church’s 2,000-year history, acclaimed for her work amongst the worlds poorest of the poor in the slums of the Indian city now called Kolkata. He said critics view her differently, arguing she did little to alleviate the pain of the terminally ill and nothing to stamp out the root causes of poverty.
The priest recalled that in 1991, the British medical journal the Lancet visited a home she ran in Kolkata for the dying and said untrained carers failed to recognise when some patients could have been cured. Kolodiejchuk said her detractors missed the point of her mission, arguing that she had created a place to comfort people in their final days rather than establish hospitals.
“We don’t have to prove that saints were perfect, because no one is perfect.” He said that several events are planned in the run up to the ceremony, including a prayer vigil on Friday, an audience in St Peter’s Square with Francis on Saturday morning. Kolodiejchuk said it would be followed in the evening by a veneration of Teresa’s relics in a Roman basilica outside of the Vatican.
“As the canonisation falls on the eve of Teresa’s feast day, which marks the anniversary of her death on September 5, 1997, there are expected to be more celebrations and religious services on Monday and later on in the week. He said that on September 7-8, pilgrims would be allowed to visit the room Teresa used on visits to Rome, in the convent of the Church of San Gregorio Magno near the Colosseum, where her Missionaries of Charity have a local branch."
Father Kolodiejchuk said that the Indian Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj and other dignitaries from Teresa’s adopted nation are scheduled to attend the Mass.
Mother Teresa was born Agnese Gonxha Bojaxhiu of Albanian parents in 1910 in what was then part of the Ottoman Empire and is now Macedonia. She became a nun at 16 and moved to India in 1929, creating her mission in 1950 and gained worldwide recognition for her work, including a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
Private letters published after her death in 1997 also revealed that for the last 50 years of her life she despaired over having lost a personal connection with Jesus, while she continued steadfastly to serve his cause. All her life, she worked to serve poorer sections of Indian society.
The late Pope John Paul II reportedly bent Vatican rules to allow the procedure to establish her case for sainthood to be launched two years after her death instead of the usual five, and she was beatified in 2003.
