North Korea Suspends Guam Missile Plan

Supreme leader, Kim Jong-Un appears to have finally reneged on his promise to attack the Guam Island which is housing several U.S troops.

Kim Jong-Un

North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un said Tuesday he would hold off on a planned missile strike near Guam, but warned the highly provocative move would go ahead in the event of further “reckless actions” by Washington.
Some analysts suggested Kim’s comments opened a possible path to de-escalating a growing crisis fuelled by a bellicose war of words between US President Donald Trump and the North Korean leadership.
Their recent exchanges were focused on a North Korean threat to fire a volley of four missiles over Japan towards the US territory of Guam, which hosts a number of strategic military bases.
The North’s official KCNA news agency said Kim was briefed on the “plan for an enveloping fire at Guam” during an inspection on Monday of the Strategic Force command in charge of the nuclear-armed state’s missile units.
But Kim said he would “watch a little more the foolish and stupid conduct of the Yankees” before executing any order.
If they “persist in their extremely dangerous reckless actions on the Korean peninsula,” then North Korea would take action “as already declared,” he was quoted as saying.
“In order to defuse the tensions and prevent the dangerous military conflict on the Korean peninsula, it is necessary for the US to make a proper option first,” he added.

2017 GCE Ordinary Level Results

The Cameroon GCE board has made public the 2017 Ordinary level results (general) though results of some schools and candidates have been withheld. While some results have been withheld for suspected examination malpractices, others have been held back for authentication. This so after the GCE Advanced level and Technical GCE results were released. This year, out of 80,212 candidates that registered, only 46, 532 candidates sat for 4 or more subjects while a meager 11,770 candidates passed in 4 or more subjects representing 25.29 as against 2016. It should be recalled that in 2016 academic year, 110,702 candidates registered and 102, 857 sat for 4 or more subjects while 63,951 corresponding to 62.17%.  This drop in the performances is visible everywhere. Several schools and centres in Donga Mantung Division scored zero percent this year.Though the Minister's release indicated that all the results were released, it came to passed that the GCE Board had to authenticate the results before publication. The most interesting thing is that in this year's GCE ordinary level student at GBHS Mendong in Yde passed in 21 subjects breaking the long outstanding record of 11 subjects. In same line, students of GHS Mbu warr in Donga Mantung have decried that the total number of registered candidates published by the Cameroon GCE Board doesnt reflect theirs.
Candidates in Donga Mantung can contact us for individual results.

How Kenyan Youths are Winning Elections

.

The 24-year-old, Cynthia Muge who contested in the Kenyan Parliamentary as an independent candidate because she lacked the funds to obtain the Jubilee Party’s nomination form, yet she defeated five men to secure the Member of Country Assembly (MCA) seat in Kilibwoni Ward, Nandi County.
Cynthia Muge
Muge’s chances looked so slim that even her own mother advised her against running. Without the funds, the University of Nairobi graduate devised a social media and house-to-house campaign strategy. She polled 8,760 votes, while her closest competitor, Wilson Kiptanui of Jubilee Party, garnered 8,354 votes. She joins five other women in taking six of the 30 assembly seats available in Nandi.

Mwirigi Crushes Bigwigs to emerge winner
Paul Mwririgi
If Muge’s story is enthralling, another’s is simply intriguing. John John Paul Mwirigi, 23, 'broke', jobless and an orphan, ran without a party against veteran politicians boasting membership of established political parties. He emerged winner, polling 18, 867 against Jubilee Party’s Rufus Miriti, who had 15, 411 votes. Three other seasoned politicians —Mwenda Mzalendo (7,695 votes), Kubai Mutuma (6,331 votes) and Raphael Muriungi, a Deputy Governor, two-tome ex-MP and former Assistant Minister (2,278 votes) — placed nowhere near himThe sixth child of eight children from his parents, Mwirigi still lives in his family home — a local granary in the community! He printed no campaign posters, and prosecuted his door-to-door campaign on foot until his former colleagues bought him a motorcycle.

10 Things You Should Know About Type 2 Diabetes (The Deadly Disease)

Many people know that diabetes is a deadly disease but few actually know its causes, symptoms and risk factors. These are the things you should know about it.

What Is It?

When you have this disease, your body does a poor job turning the carbohydrates in food into energy. This causes sugar to build up in your blood. Over time it raises your risk for heart disease, blindness, nerve and organ damage, and other serious conditions. It strikes people of all ages, and early symptoms are mild. About 1 out of 3 people with type 2 diabetes don’t know they have it.

What Will You Notice First?

People with type 2 diabetes often have no symptoms. When they do appear, one of the first may be being thirsty a lot. Others include dry mouth, bigger appetite, peeing a lot — sometimes as often as every hour — and unusual weight loss or gain.

Later Symptoms

As your blood sugar levels get higher, you may have other problems like headaches, blurred vision, and fatigue.

Signs of Serious Problems

In many cases, type 2 diabetes isn’t discovered until it takes a serious toll on your health. Some red flags include:
  • Cuts or sores that are slow to heal
  • Frequent yeast infections or urinary tract infections
  • Itchy skin, especially in the groin area

Risk Factors You Can Control

Some health habits and medical conditions related to your lifestyle can raise your odds of having type 2 diabetes, including:
  • Being overweight, especially at the waist
  • A couch potato lifestyle
  • Smoking
  • Eating a lot of red meat, processed meat, high-fat dairy products, and sweets
  • Unhealthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels

It Can Affect Your S*x Life

Diabetes can damage blood vessels and nerves in your genitals. This could lead to a loss of feeling and make it hard to have an orgasm. Women are also prone to vaginal dryness. About 1 in 3 who have diabetes will have some form of sexual trouble. Between 35% and 70% of men who have the disease will have at least some degree of impotence in their lifetime.

Your diet makes a difference

You can control blood sugar levels by changing your diet and losing extra weight. That will also cut your risk of complications. Carefully track the carbs in your diet. Keep amounts the same at every meal, watch how much fat and protein you eat, and cut calories. Ask your doctor to refer you to a dietitian to help you make healthy choices and an eating plan.

Exercise Is Important

Regular exercise, like strength training or walking, improves your body’s use of insulin and can lower blood sugar levels. Being active also helps get rid of body fat, lower blood pressure, and protect you from heart disease. Try to get 30 minutes of moderate activity on most days of the week.

Relaxation Is Key

Stress can boost your blood pressure and blood sugar. Some people don’t do anything for it. Others turn to food to cope with it. Instead, practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or visualization. Talking to a friend, family member, counselor, or a religious leader could help. If you can’t beat it, reach out to your doctor.

Teeth and Gums Are Targets

High blood sugar levels can feed the bacteria that make plaque. Plaque buildup leads to cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. Severe gum disease can cause tooth loss. It weakens gums and the tissues and bones that hold teeth in place. That makes it easier to get an infection, too.

2017 GCE Results: Drastic Drop in Advanced Level, Technical GCE

Statistics from the Cameroon GCE Board show that there has been a drastic drop in the GCE General and  the Technical GCE. Impressionists have described this year's drop as the worst result ever since the creation of the GCE Board. It is clear that a total number of  38000 candidates registered for the GCE Advanced Level, 33037 candidates sat for the exams and 11670 passed with two more subjects representing 35.52% as against 66.52% in 2016.  Comparatively, it should be recalled that in 2016, a total of 46000 candidates registered and 43000 sat for the the exams while 29000 passed giving a percentage passed of 66.52%. Reports say that results of some centres have been withheld due to some irregularities.  Besides that the results of some candidates who sat for the examination without prior registration have also been withheld until authenticated.
The most pathetic and worrisome is in the Technical GCE whereby 3472 candidates registered, 2567 sat for the exams and only 574 passed representing  22.36% as against 54.33% in 2016.
However, a release by the Minister of Secondary education says the results of both GCE Ordinary Level, Advanced, and Technical GCE have been published and could be consulted at www.minesec.cm. This is however intriguing given that the GCE Board has only released the results of Advanced level, and Technical GCE  (partial) while the Ministry has announced the results of all the GCE exams.

Senate President Sacks 98 Aides

Reports say Nigeria Senate President Bukola Saraki has allegedly relieved several aides of their duties due to reasons yet to be made public.

Senate President Bukola Saraki

According to DailyTrust correspondent, the Senate President Bukola Saraki has sacked his director of protocol, head of administration and 96 others to scale down the number of his aides.
Daily Trust reporter indicated that the affected aides have been issued sack letters through the office of the Chief of staff, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.  It was gathered that with the mass sack, Saraki’s aides have been reduced from over 300 to a little above 200.
It should be recalled that Daily Trust had exclusively reported in March, 2016, how hundreds of aides engaged by Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Deputy Speaker, Yusuf Lasun weighed down the National Assembly.
An aide to Saraki told a correspondent that the last batch of the affected aides, were given their sack letters on Tuesday.
“They started last Wednesday and they have finished distributing the letters on Tuesday. Out of the 300 aides, about 100 were affected. You know we have some of our colleagues that are based in Kwara,” he said.
He said among those affected were the director of protocol, Arthur Ndiwe and the head of administration, Mrs Folasade Adigun. It was also gathered that the Special Adviser to Saraki on legal matters, Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi has also resigned.
Another source in Saraki’s office, who also confirmed the mass sack, said majority of those affected were staff of the National Assembly, who have been on secondment for over a decade.
The source who doesn’t want to be named said others who were affected are those who were redundant and are not ‘adding value’ to the system.

Report Points to Human Activity as Prime Cause of Climate Change

A draft federal report, which is awaiting White House approval, has concluded that human activity is "primarily responsible" for a drastic rise in temperatures in the United States since 1980. Photo by Kevin Dietsch/UPI| License Photo

Aug. 8 (UPI) -- A new federal report, which is awaiting White House approval, concludes that human activity is "primarily responsible" for a drastic rise in the average temperature in the United States in the last four decades.
The Climate Science Special Report was authored by scientists from 13 federal agencies -- including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA and the White House's Office of Science and Technology Policy -- and several academic institutions.
"The global climate continues to change rapidly compared to the pace of the natural changes in climate that have occurred throughout Earth's history. Trends in globally-average temperature, sea-level rise, upper-ocean heat content, land-based ice melt and other climate variables provide consistent evidence of a warming planet," the authors wrote.
The report said the frequency and intensity of heavy precipitation and extreme heat occurring in most of the world is consistent with expected physical responses to a warming climate, which will continue to intensify such weather events.
"Many lines of evidence demonstrate that human activities, especially emissions of greenhouse gases, are primarily responsible for the observed climate changes in the industrial era," the authors added. "There are no alternative explanations, and no natural cycles are found in the observational record that can explain the observed changes in climate."

Why Neymar Left Barcelona - Father Finally Reveals

Brazilian sensational forward, Neymar has parted with the Catalan giants, Barcelona to carve a niche for himself after being tired of living in the shadows of Argentina star, Messi.

Neymar Jr

Neymar Sr says his son made the world record €222m move from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain out of respect for the Blaugrana talisman, Leo Messi.
The 25-year-old Neymar Jr last week moved to the Ligue 1 side on a five-year deal reportedly worth €600,000 (£540,000) per week after tax.
Though many analysts have opined that the Brazillian left the Nou Camp for the money, his father claimed his son left because he did not want to challenge the status of Messi out of respect for his teammate.

Speaking in a COPE report, Neymar Sr said, “Imagine a place where you are the protagonist of a club, where you are the idol of that club and everyone wants to transform you into the star that you do not want to be.
“Messi is the star and will always be the star. Not only because of the love and respect that Neymar has for Leo, he is his idol. Imagine that everyone said that Neymar has to be Messi’s substitute, he does not want to be his substitute. You have to leave Messi, he is the idol at Barcelona.
“Neymar has to make his own way and accept the challenge he has. I think my son has been a man, shown respect [to Messi] and now he has to go his own way. He could go to any club and be in the spotlight, not that he wants to be number one.
“He is taking a risk. Can PSG guarantee him the Ballon d’Or? No. And it is crazy that people believe that. It would be easier at Barca, with the help of that team.”

190,000 Sign Petition to Stop 'First Lady' Office in France

French President Macron is having problems creating an office for his elderly wife after being publicly opposed by the public.

Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron

More than 190,000 people have expressed their opposition toward French President Emmanuel Macron’s initiative to create an official First Lady status for his wife, Brigitte Macron, as of Monday morning.

The online petition was published on the change.org platform and created by Thierry Paul Valette, the founder of the “national equality” movement.

The organisation’s aim is to combat corruption and discrimination. The petition specifies that, if enacted, the special status would allow the first lady benefit from the French budget.

Having an office, staff and an allowance from the public purse are examples of some such benefits. During his presidential campaign, Macron, who took office in May, said that he wanted to create the position for his wife in order to clarify her status, promising that no public funds would be used to pay her.

Real Madrid Prepares to Do Without Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo who is standing trial in court over tax evasion might not feature in the anticipated clash against his former English club.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo has finally returned to training with Real Madrid but the defending European champions are set to be without the Portuguese superstar in Tuesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash with Manchester United in Skopje.
Ronaldo’s summer has been overshadowed by accusations of tax evasion in Spain, which led to him being charged in a court near Madrid last week, while he was handed an extended summer break by his club after playing for Portugal at the Confederations Cup.
He only returned to training at the weekend, meaning it would be a major surprise if coach Zinedine Zidane were to include the 32-year-old against his former club in the match at the Philip II Arena in the Macedonian capital.
“He needed to rest. He has had his holidays and that was important,” said Zidane of the man whose two goals helped propel Madrid to a 4-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League final in Cardiff two months ago.
That victory saw Real become the first club to retain the trophy in the Champions League era and completed a glorious campaign in which they also won La Liga.
The season started with a 3-2 extra-time triumph against Sevilla in the Super Cup in the Norwegian city of Trondheim. “Real Madrid is a team, a club, an institution that has hunger. We all know where we are and when you finish a season like last year winning, it helps you try to do the same thing coming into the new season,” Zidane — whose team have Barcelona to come at the weekend in the Spanish Super Cup — said in a UEFA interview.
However, his side failed to record a victory during a pre-season tour of the United States that included a high-profile friendly encounter with Jose Mourinho’s United in Santa Clara, California.
That International Champions Cup encounter ended in a 1-1 draw before United won on penalties. While the Spaniards have made two relatively low-key summer signings in Dani Ceballos from Betis and Theo Hernandez from Atletico Madrid, United have spent big ahead of their return to the Champions League.
The Europa League winners have added the defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica, the midfielder Nemanja Matic from Chelsea and Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and they wrapped up their preparations with a 2-1 win over Sampdoria in Dublin.

AFCON 2019: Is Ahmad Ahmad CAF President up for Something?

Ahmad Ahmad

Speculations as to whether Ahmad Ahmad, CAF President is up for something now abound high. From all indications, the declaration he made ahead of of the first CAF inspection mission was pregnant with meaning. It has sparked nationwide criticism. Seemingly Ahmad Ahmad wants to please Morocco (candidate for Can 2019, after refusing to organize the competition in 2015 due to Ebola) so to say. He is quoted as saying that even with four poles; Cameroon is not ready to host AFCON 2019. "We have decided that it is no longer the CAF Executive Committee who will inspect the countries selected for the organization of the Afcon," Ahmad told the local press during a visit to Burkina Faso, as reported by CAF Online.
"It is now experts who will do it and the CAF will decide based on their report.
"Regarding Cameroon, we will send the experts and we will decide at the end of their inspection mission," added the Malagasy football chief. "Cameroon will have to work to convince the CAF on its ability to host the event." The statement is however controversial given that the experts are still to the inspection. It is however indicative that he had a preconceived plan to deprive Cameroon of the place to host AFCON 2019.
Cameroonians are aware that Ahmad Ahmad wants to settle scores with former CAF President Issa Hayatou for refusing his a similar opportunity. What is however annoying is that Ahmad has forgotten that it is thanks to the performances of Cameroon in the world 1990 and the confederations cups of 2003 that Africa has got 5 places in the biggest football competition in the world?
Tongues have been waging as to whether CAF President wants to deprive Cameroon of hosting to sell to Morocco. Majority of Cameroonians have been wondering whether the new president of CAF has so short a memory that he forgets that in 2016, Cameroon organized the last edition of the Africa Cup of women's football and even received the congratulations of the CAF for its good organization?

Ace Journalist, Publisher of Chronicle Newspaper, Mbah Motomu was born on October 6, 1966, in Batibo, Momo Division into the family of Mbah Adolph(late) and Abid Sophie, Eric was 3rd in a family of 6.
From 1973 to 1980, he attended Presbyterian School Guzang where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate. The quest for Eric to know the whitemans’ book took him to PSS Batibo and later Nacho Comprehensive College in Bamenda he obtained the GCE O Level certificate in 1986. He then moved to GBHS Mbengwi where he obtained his A Level certificate. It was at GBHS Mbengwi that Eric’s flare for journalism exploded. He alongside Randy Joe and a host of others created the journalism society with Eric as kingpin. Within the family circles, Eric was nick named “Toguene” for his astute abilities in making sport commentaries. This time-tested media professional \after a B.A in English in 1992, a post graduate diploma in Mass Communication (University of Lagos, Nigeria) traveled to Israel where he underwent a capacity building training in mass communication. When he returned back to Cameroon, he worked with Witness. After futile attempts to work at the state owned media outfit CRTV, his zeal pushed him to create his own media enterprise, The Socialist Chronicle. He later abandoned the idea of Socialist Chronicle when he realized the SDF no more needed his services to put in place Chronicle newspaper. Eric's Chronicle newspaper has made it mark in the media landscape in Cameroon.
He was the most generous man one could find in the entire region. All those who have worked and collaborated with him including this reporter know that Eric was a man of his own words. And now one would have captured Eric’s generosity more than John Menkefor who rightly puts that “as a newspaper publisher, he made sure that those who worked for him had their dues and that respect, he stood out as a rare specie in the world of Mister-Eat-For-All-Of-You media investors. Like any other human being, he would flare out any reporter or collaborator who could deliver his assignment in time. Dateline for him was a menu never to be postponed. Dateline was dateline. He had the one of the best organized newsrooms in the entire Anglophone Cameroon. As Colbert puts it, Eric was a very organized publisher. “When he called you in to do a piece of work, he would virtually provide you all the material, from pen to all imaginable reference documentation to writing material and the bank notes. As you settle down in the next office to place together the material he has given you, you hear him shout across the phone, first to Teneng, second to the (very) Peterkings I just told you they were not on talking terms, and then to Fai Cassian and Michael Ndi that if in the next five minutes they are not there to complete their assignments, they would forfeit their (gombo) pay package. Whether nailing or panegyric, you hand over the script to him, you cease to have any proprietary right over it. Dare not identify with his newspaper again until such a time that he needs you. The battle became his, Joe Tan, Musa Isa, Tetuh Mbah, IO Fosung, Sidiki and the rest. He fell out with thise who collaborated with him more for identifying in public with Chronicle than for refusing to do him an assignment. He was more in the courtrooms than the newsroom”
Eric was such a refined writer that when told anyone to read “Manawa” the person would have sleepless night till Monday comes.
Eric got married with Stella in 2004 and the marriage lasted for 8 years as she passed away in 2012. They were blessed with two daughters, Treasure and Stelric. He was a lovely father, caring and responsible.
