Nkambe Mayor (Mangoh Jones) Wants WISU Divided

Created on August 15, 1979, the Wimbum Students Union has been a unifying factor in Mbumland. Yet, this unity seems to be bubbling and disturbing the minds of some politicians. Last Friday, the Mayor of Nkambe resurfaced the obnoxious plan to split the association. Mangoh Jones Tanko who has always claim to be one of the patrons of the students union told Wusuians at the Mbaa Convention that it is time for the association to split into two. According to Mangoh Jones, suggested that there should be a WISU for Ndu Sub Division and another for Nkambe Central Sub Division. The pronouncement angered students to the point that he was jeered out of the rostrum. Observers are of the opinion that the divide and rule syndrome in Mbumland may likely take its roots in youth movements if care is not taken. Reacting to this statement by Mangoh Jones, Alhadj Borno Kamfon castigated the proposal and added that it is shameful that such plans are being proposed to youths. He said if it is accepted then WISU which has been the symbol of unity and strength of the Mbum people will be rubbed in the mud for obvious reasons.
Gerard Ngala, who for years now has been advocating for the unity of Mbum people sounded optimistic that such a plan to further split Mbum people will never succeed again. He said the youths are more determined than ever to ignore all these elitist ideas.
Talking to this reporter, Nfor Ernest regretted that politicians want to split them so that they could easily manipulate the association for selfish interest. He added that after splitting the Mbum people into clans,"it is now the students union and they will not succeed". Mercy Ndi on the other hand lamented the fact that the old political guards of Mbumland are really determine to infiltrate the union inorder to destroy it. However, it is rumoured that the Mayor of Nkambe, Mangoh Jones Tanko left Mbaa village a little disappointed as his proposal to ruin the student union met stiff resistance yet, Hon. Awudu Mbaya is also reported to have outsmarted the students in another scenario that almost generated into chaos. (See separate story coming up next)
