As part of its activities to encourage sustainable food system in its municipality, Ndu council in Donga Mantung has distributed 6000 chicks to poultry farmers. Beneficiaries also received feed , drugs and other poultry materials which will enable them to successfully carryout their activities. Over 200 farmers received the support.
Besides, the council also shared 10,000 of improved cassava cuttings to farmers of Ndu sub division and other sub divisions of Donga Mantung Division. The cassava cuttings were donated to the council by Dr Nick Ngwanyam, a prominent elite of the municipality. Before the distribution of the cuttings, the mayor of Council used the opportunity to call on all mayors of the Division as well as traditional rulers to urge their elites at home at the diaspora to copy the good examples of Dr. Nick Ngwanyam. Mayor Abdou Borno Kanfon reiterated that the grammar they speak every day cannot change lives in our communities. He was categorical that the fastest way to go industrial is to go agricultural and not through language prowess.
He reechoed the fact that last year, Dr. Nick supported farmers with yam sets, wheat seeds, sun flower seeds, pantaloon fowls, Oat and barley seeds imported from Britain. Harping on how elites in the diaspora can contribute enormously in building an equitable food systems, he concluded that "the elite in the diaspora should stop speaking grammar" which isn't going to help the communities. He expressed gratitude to all development partners for the timely support that will go a long way to impact lives in his municipality
