PDI Sparks Inclusive Development in Awing

The North‑West Regional Assembly has launched a 3‑kilometre road maintenance project in Awing Village, Santa Sub Division, under its flagship Peace and Development Initiative (PDI). Using the High Intensity Labour Activities (HILA/HIMO) approach, the project focuses on rehabilitating the Ala‑Amety 3 Corners–Nchuletah Mbeme road, a vital link for residents, farmers, and businesses.
officially launched by Alombah Anderson Akondi, Director of General Affairs and Project Manager, who mobilized over 45 youths under the cash‑for‑work scheme. The effort provides temporary employment while improving community infrastructure.Residents expressed gratitude to Professor Fru Angwafo III, President of the Regional Executive Council, for extending PDI to Awing. Their strong participation reflects the program’s goal of fostering ownership, resilience, and inclusive development. Building on Phase I’s 200 projects, Phase II now implements 103 across all 34implements 103 across all 34 Subdivisions, injecting income, strengthening cohesion, and advancing peace.
