Stakeholders from government institutions, local councils, traditional authorities, civil society organizations, and community representatives convened in Limbe from 20–21 July 2026 for a two-day workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Early Warning Systems (EWS), and Hard Plastic Reduction across the mangrove ecosystems of Limbe I, II, III, and Tiko municipalities.Organized by AJESH in partnership with MINEPDED, and supported by Sida and WWF under the Together for People and Planet (ToPP) Project, the workshop underscored the vital role of mangroves in safeguarding coastlines, sustaining livelihoods, conserving biodiversity, and enhancing resilience against climate change, flooding, and coastal erosion.Participants endorsed a Disaster Risk Mitigation Action Matrix and committed to stronger measures to curb hard plastic pollution while protecting the Limbe-Tiko mangrove ecosystems for future generations.
