An innocent man who was thrown into prison for allegedly murdering another man has been released after serving 39 years for a crime he didn't commit. Days later, armed police kicked in the door of the home where 18-year-old Ricky lived. Minister of Secondary Education, Jean Ernest Messana has recommended that candidates who did not register for the General Certificate of Education (exams) should be registered on the spot. As the practical part of the examinations kick start nationwide, candidates who did not register are expected to be admitted to sit-in. Reports say only 129,000 students have registered for the GCE examinations, 54,000 less than last year. Addressing education stakeholders in Bamenda and Buea recently, Minister Jean Ernest Messana revealed that more centres have been created while security has been tightened to ensure the security of students and teachers. An Ebola epidemic has been declared in the Democratic Republic of Congo with three people confirmed dead, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has said.   An Ebola outbreak has been declared in the northeast region of the Democratic Republic of Congo.  The World Health Organisation says three deaths are being linked to the virus, and it is taking the situation "very seriously".  One of those killed had tested positive for Ebola after coming down with a haemorrhagic fever last month in Bas-Uele, a province which borders the Central African Republic.  WHO spokesman Christian Lindmeier has told Sky News that work is under way to find people who may have been in contact with the Ebola sufferer.  The health agency's regional director is also on their way to Bas-Uele, where residents are being given advice on how to treat their loved ones and perform safe burials.  Another WHO spokesman, Eric Kabambi, said: "The case is in a very rem...

The Minister of Public Works has issued a Press Release announcing that work will commence on the Bamenda-Babajou road. Minister Nganou Djoumessi is expected in Bamenda tomorrow May 16, 2017 to launch the rehabilitation project. The Release further states that the rehabilitation project apart from the 35km stretch Bamenda-Babajou also includes among others, the run around track of the Bamenda entrance cliff (5km) and the urban section of the city of Bamenda. . The project which is funded by the world Bank and to be constructed by SATOM is estimated at FCFA 60.7 billion. On the invitation of the President of the Republic, Mercy Ships is expected to arrive Cameroon as from August this year. According to information filtering from the Ministry of Public Health, over 6.000 complicated cases shall be taken care of by the experts. Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma revealed in a Press Briefing that Mercy Ships will station at the Douala Sea Port for nine months to provide health services to Cameroonians who have been selected to benefit. Football icon, Samuel Eto'o Fils has made a very significant donation to the Laquinitinie Hospital in Douala. The soccer star handed over a block named  "Pavilion Samuel Eto’o", which has constructed to Public Health minister, André Mama Fouda. The groundbreaking ceremony which took place last Monday was described by many as a life-saving gift that will go a long way to impact the lives of many Cameroonians. The newly constructed block, it should be noted is well equipped and will serve the hospital for emergency interventions, reanimation and pediatric resuscitation. Juan Pedro Franco   The world's fattest man is preparing for life-saving gastric bypass surgery after spending nearly seven years confined to a bed. Juan Pedro Franco, who once weighed more than half a ton, has lost a whopping 27 and a half stone to go under the knife. The 32-year-old, from Aguascalientes in Mexico, has been on a three-month diet to prepare for the operation on Tuesday.
