Chelsea of Njap Wins HRH Fon Stanley Tumi's Unity Cup

HRH Fon Stanley handing the trophy to winners

At about 3pm, the sounds of vuvuzelas echoed into the lowlands of Njap, down to Ngie, Wejeng and up the hills of Ntalih as thousands gathered at Government School Njap to cheer the finalists of the 1st Edition of Njap Unity. There was euphoria when the referee, Budi Aaron gave the blast of the whistle for the match kick-off.  Barely 32 seconds into the match, Chelsea FC of Njap after two touches of the ball sent a missile directly into the net. Singing and dancing took the centre stage. Supporters of Chelsea invaded the playground with joy. The match halted for few minutes as the players were almost buried in the crowd. Those who took the pains from far off areas like Nfiegong, Chinna and Ngong to be part of the soccer final could be seen rushing into the field.
The first half ended with Chelsea having an edge over their counterparts by one goal to zero. Hostilities resumed after the first half as Ajax tried to equalize but the goalkeeper of Ajax could not allow the ball into his net. At about 14 minutes to the end of the match, the goalkeeper of Ajax of Ngie-ku was sent off guard for a second goal. When the referee finally took the ball into his ambit after the 90 minutes were exhausted, the story was Chelsea 2, Ajax 0.
Before handing the trophies to the captains of both the male and female champions of the Njap Unity Cup, 2015 edition, the Fon of Njap, His Royal Highness Chifu Stanley Tumi promised youths that the tournament has come to stay. He called on the youths to be agents of development and not destruction given that sport is to entertain, not vice versa. HRH Chifu Stanley Tumi equally used the opportunity to caution the youths on bad manners and enjoined them to report anyone suspicious person in their midst. He thanked Oliver Awudu alias Abega for the timely support adding that Oliver Awudu donated 8 sets of jerseys, balls and other logistics for the tournament. He also called on all the other youths to emulate the example of Oliver who has decided to join the palace in promoting grassroot football. On the other hand, the Fon of Njap congratulated the organizing committee and the executive of NJAPDECA for being part of the village animation. He said being a youth himself, he would spare no efforts to foster development and if the youths work with him, Njap will surely emerge before 2035.Education, the Fon of Njap added is the backbone of any future generation reasons why he called on the parents to send their children to school as schools reopen Monday September 7, 2015.
Talking to this reporter at the end of the male and female finals, Awudu Oliver disclosed that he has already spotted one talented young player with whom he will work. He said as a former soccer player, he would love to promote grassroot football both male and female reasons why he supported the Fon’s effort. Oliver’s efforts are also geared at reviving the Division III side, Monaco of Njap which sank into the doldrums some years ago. He sounded optimistic that the soccer nursery is rich and just needed a small push to excel. When quizzed whether his involvement in promoting grassroot football had no political undertone, Oliver discarded the allegations adding that though from a political family, he thinks you deserve to be entertained during holidays.
It should be recalled that the female final between Ngie FC and Ngie-ku FC ended in penalty shoots. At the end of the day, Ngie FC won the female trophy with a lumpsum cash.

That Groundbreaking Speech by Ta Nformi Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh at the 9th Anniversary of The Eye Newspaper in Nkambe

Ta Nformi Dr. Christopher Fomunyoh

It’s truly an honour and pleasure to be with you today here in Nkambe, Donga Mantung Division. I have been so touched by what I have lived through today. When my younger brother Fai Cassian, who has lost his name and he is now called The Eye, when he sent me the notification that I have been chosen by the jury to be the personality of the year, I was so moved.  I was so moved because I didn’t expect that my own brothers and sisters were watching carefully what I have been trying to do within my community of birth, and also for my region, for our country  and for my continent.
I was so touched that I responded and I said I will come. I don’t know whether The Eye was prepared for me to actually make the trip. Maybe he was hoping that I will respond and delegate someone to represent me. But I said no, I will drop everything that I have to do to come personally to Nkambe to receive this award. I decided that I will come myself because I believe in the same spirit that created The Eye, for Fai Cassian and his colleagues to do what they are doing. I believe in the spirit that promotes democratic tolerance that sends the strong message that we are all brothers and sisters, and we are all of our brother and our sister, Jesus.
·         That we are part of the global community of democrats and a global community of human beings.
·         That each and every one of us is born with some level of diversity but these diverse opinions should all contribute to make us a stronger people.
I decided to come to celebrate with you the 9th Anniversary of The Eye newspaper because I believe in freedom of the Press as one strong term of democratic governance. I believe giving the voice to the voiceless, allow people in the communities to tell their own stories so that they don’t wait by within difference as other people to tell their stories for them.
I decided to come because I believe in community development and I was struck and extremely impressed by the fact that The Eye and The Clean Community campaign was really touching to people at the grassroot levels, helping them learn new skills and new knowledge about things that can help them improve their lives. We have to empower ourselves to know that in this day and age, with multiple demands with the multiple demands on the shoulders of government around the world, the (public sector) governments can no longer provide all. It is incumbent upon us as citizens to also contribute our part because when we do so we also raise the power expectation of government. Because today the government can see give ourselves wheelbarrows, spades, hoes and cutlasses.
So if the government comes to us tomorrow, it shouldn’t come with wheelbarrows and cutlasses but it should come with caterpillars and trucks to keep helping us improve our wellbeing. You know a great French philosopher Alexis de Tocqueville wrote about American democracy in a phenomenal document which continues to be read by scholars today. And one of his points of admiration of democracy in that old established democracy was the fact that people at the grassroot levels in small communities, in counties, villages and in cities are fully empowered to take their lives in their own hands and to take decisions that impact their lives on daily basis.
Decentralization is a big word but what I have seen today and what I have been told, and what you all are doing in the various palaces, villages, sub Divisions (Donga Mantung, Bui, Ngoketunjia, Menchum) and the rest of the Divisions across this region and this nation. What you are doing is giving meaning to this effort to allow citizens at the grassroots to make decisions that impact their lives on daily basis.
You know when I was coming here I didn’t know what His Royal Highness the Fon of Nkambe had in stock for me. I thought I was just coming, going to the palace to greet the fon to make sure that he is in good health but I have to tell you today is a memorable day in my life, one of the most memorable days in my life.
First of all, the Fon gave me a wonderful lesson of history in his very lifestyle. The fon told me about how he came to the throne in 1959 before many people in this room were born. And you can see that he has governed his people without acrimony. He epitomizes the best values of democratic governance you can ever have. The Fon told me about his days in the House of Chiefs where he sat with some of the notable fons of Moghamo ther parts of the North West and South West Region and reminded me that that institution was able to contribute for democracy in our nation. I learnt from the Fon about the efforts around the plebiscite which brought our country to oneness again after the pre-interim of the British rule after some people struggled to let Donga Mantung to vote on the other side. So I realized that I was in front of my traditional father, our traditional father but also in the presence of the monument of history.
His Royal Highness Thank You so for all you have done for the people of Donga Mantung. Thank You so much for all you have done for our nation, Cameroon and May the Good Lord Continue to bless you for decades and decades to come. Little did I know that His Royal Highness had another trick in his bag? You know with these traditional rulers, they are wiser than wisdom. And when you go to them be humble and I now feel that the next time Comfort Mussa and Jato Richard will introduce me, they have to treat me with a lot of respect. It is not because of those long essays but it is because of what His Royal Highness has done to me in bestowing in me the title of Ta Nformi Cameroon.
I can assure you that I take this very seriously. Thank You His Royal Highness, His Royal Highnesses from all the fondoms and Chiefdoms of this wonderful Division, the traditional leaders here present or represented, you that I will keep to your expectations. In fact this morning when I was talking with the Lord Mayor I reminded him that next time when I come into the city I will ask for the tea of the city. His Royal Highness has just made the task easier for me, now I will not need to ask, I will just send one of the notables to inform him that Ta Nformi Cameroon is coming. That is how we do it the traditional way. This is not going to be the first time, it is only the beginning. And you can count on The Fomunyoh Foundation to be by your side one step at a time and one step all the way.
Let me take this opportunity to thank our administrative Officers, the Senior Divisional officer, the 2nd Assistant Senior Divisional Officer and the Divisional Officer for Nkambe Central, who met me this morning and were very hospitable. All three officials who have taken time to spend all of this afternoon with all of us, their presence honoured me and their presence is a reminder that an administration that listens to its people, and that wine and dines and be by its people during good as well as during difficult moments is an administration that is formed to be able to deliver the public services that we all expect and enquire from our civil and public service.
I also want to assure them that in my work as the African Director at NDI, I am someone who sticks on African nations has always shown or highlight the realities that we face at the country but also the opportunities that lies ahead.
(Translation from Pidgin English below)
Let me also greet my mothers and fathers who have travelled from far off areas to be present here. That they should not look at the big grammar I am talking here. I am a country side child (country pikin). You have seen that our traditional rulers have truly confirmed that “I be country pikin”. When I greeted Fai Cassian’s mother, I felt the joy in her. I was glad to see how she was rejoicing for all the honours the son is having. When I arrived Bamenda, I told Fai Cassian that I would love to see the mother. And he told me his mother will come because she has always heard people talk about his son but doesn’t know what he is doing.
Mama, I thank you a lot.  Mama, you have seen that your son is working for your family, but he is working for all of us, Donga Mantung, Cameroon and Africa. He makes us glad. What we have seen today is a big lesson to all the mothers present here today because to send your child to school is good. I know it is difficult to pay school fees but if you struggle, sell corn, beans etc to pay the school fees, after a year, two, three, they must be a time that he/she will be called up in a big ceremony like this one. You will be called up that Mami, this is your child and he/she has done great things for this country.
I thank you all for coming and that sooner or later you will be informed that Ta Nformi Cameroon is coming back home to greet his people.
“Make God Bless all Wena”

Meet Agho Oliver The Award Winning Most Devoted CPDM Youth

Agho Oliver honoured as "Most Devoted CPDM Youth"
Agho Oliver is a dynamic CPDM youth who is climbing the ladder of politics with alot of dexterity. Though it is admitted by many that politics is a means to  an end; but with Oliver it is not necessarily that  the end must be a groveling one. Agho Oliver has proven that the value of a politician must be determined, for the most part, by the greatness of its aim and the largeness of the result accomplished and not what a person would gain for his/herself. Whenever politics goes with tangible results, it will not fail to be useful if handled by people with character and conscience because it extensiveness and non-interventionist will impact people positively. The CPDM party in Mezam IC is very vibrant thanks to the number of youths who have engaged into politics.
Agho Oliver seemingly has the experience in the game of politics given that at his young age, he has served almost all the basic organs of the party. From the Cell, Branch, Sub Section and the Section, the young man has left a mark of greatness in all the positions he held. Last August 31, 2015, Agho Oliver was honoured in Nkambe as "Most Devoted CPDM Youth". Those who had the pains to travel to Nkambe to be part of this groundbreaking event would agree with this reporter that Agho Oliver stole the show. Mezam IC was noticed due to the fact that over 60 militants (dance group) dressed in Mezam IC T-shirts greased the event. In politics, leadership qualities is determined by how much followers one has. Agho Oliver when judged from that perspective is a rising young leader.
Ahead of the reorganization of the basic organs of the CPDM, Agho Oliver is seemingly the best candidate for the post of YCPDM in his section. Majority of the militants of Mezam IC sees in him, a man of the future....a suivre

Donga Mantung Agro Industrial Zone to Go Operational Soon SDO Says

Donga Mantung SDO, Ngone Ndodemesape Bernard

The Divisional Officer for Donga Mantung Division has revealed that an Agro Industrial zone will be launched soon in the Division. According to the Chief Executive Officer of the Division, Ndu and Nkambe has been tipped to host the transformation zone while some areas in Dumbu, Ako and the Mbaw plain have also been tipped to serve as production zones. Mr. Ngone Ndodemesape Bernard made the revelation in Misaje on September 4, 2015 while addressing members of the Divisional Security and Administrative Coordination Meeting. The Agro Industrial Zone, the SDO said is expected to employment opportunities, attract investors and above all put into use the agro pastoral potentials of the Division. He further cautioned that the project is an initiative of government to promote sustainable development and called on traditional rulers to give the needed collaboration to make sure that it’s succeed. “There is no way you can create such a structure without good roads, electricity and other infrastructure”, implicitly, this project is expected to boost the socio-economic potentials of the Division as well as add more value to the existing agro-pastoral produce.
One of the key points during the meeting security and administrative meeting was the smooth take off of the 2015/2016. And that the security of Donga Mantung should be a collective effort given that what is happening out there in other areas

Matters Arising from the CCO

Ahead of school reopening of Monday, the Senior Divisional Officer also charged all the heads of educational establishments to make sure that their reports get to his service latest, mid day. After dishing out some strategies on how security will be checked in and around school premises, he called on the population to be on the alert and report any suspicious move without delay. Suspicious movements around the schools should be reported to the law enforcement officers with immediate effect, he added, emphasizing that experience has shown that most of these acts of terrorism target assemblies and places where people are gathered. Drawing experience from what happened in Nigeria, the Senior Divisional Officer used the opportunity to call on the population increase vigilance. He also gave one week for the mayors to make sure that minimum packages get to the schools to ensure proper teaching and learning. He enjoined the delegates of Primary and Secondary education to put in place measures to monitor effective take-off of schools. Road safety campaigns he emphasized should kick-start with immediate effect, he added.
After examining reports from major stakeholders, the Senior Divisional Officer frowned at the manner with which some projects are managed. A good example of such a project that seems to be operating in hiding is ACEFA which has distributed over 30 motorbikes in the Division without the knowledge of the administration. The Eye is aware that public opinion in Donga Mantung Division has been stunned with the manner of approach of ACEFA in its actions. This is so because the population and the administration are not informed on  who is doing what what, where and for whom? Yet, they expect the administration and the population to collaborate for the project successes. Besides, the SDO also warned that break-time is over and everyone has to go to work and produce the needed results. He reiterated the fact that any head of service that would not be able to produce three (3) mature projects by January 2016 will not have his credit endorsed. More SDO also challenged the five mayors of Donga Mantung to know that by January 2016, he will not endorse the budget of any mayor who cannot present five mature projects. This move by the Senior Divisional Officer to instill hardwork has been saluted by the population and other major development stakeholders.

President Buhari, Osinbajo Publicly Declare Assets..See What they Own

The Code of Conduct Bureau has revealed to the public all the assets declared by the President of the Federation and his vice.

Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has revealed  that the president had less than N30 million in his account as at May 29 when he was sworn in as president.
Also, his deputy, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), had N94 million, $900,000 as well £19,000 in his accounts.
The pair had promptly filled and submitted their assets declaration forms to the CCB before they were sworn in. But the details were not made known to the public.
The information contained in the documents was on Thursday, Septemmber 3 confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu.
Buhari, a former Head of State, was at different times a governor, minister of petroleum and the head of the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
The documents submitted to the CCB, which officials said were still being vetted and would soon be made public, showed that prior to being sworn in on May 29, Buhari had less than N30 million to his name.
He also had only one bank account with the Union Bank.
Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises.  He also had no registered company and no oil well.
Osinbajo, who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics, declared a balance of about N94 million, US$900,000 and £19,000 in his bank accounts with the foreign currencies kept in local domiciliary accounts.
Buhari declared however that he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
The documents also revealed that Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura.  He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and Abuja.
One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father.  He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.
Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt.  He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.
In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.
The documents also showed that the president uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as a former Head of State.
The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his sports utility van (SUV) was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.
