Race for CPDM Section Presidents: Hon. Njingum Warns Against Violation of Text, Manipulations, in Donga Mantung

Hon. Njingum Musa, President of the CPDM Divisional Electoral Commission for the reorganization of the basic organs in Donga Mantung Division has warned against manipulation, influence peddling and buying of votes. Hon. Njingum Musa made the statement in Nkambe during an official launching of the reorganization process. “The CPDM is a party of discipline”, he continued. In his capacity as the head of the Central Committee delegation to oversee the process, he also said that the guidelines should be strictly respected by all and sundry. He cautioned CPDM militants of Donga Mantung Division that the Promised Land is not far but may take a million years for them to get there if they are not in unison.
According to Hon. Njingum the reorganization process is intended to strengthen the party and not to tear it into pieces. “Ask yourself why you joined politics”. He used the occasion to shower President Biya with praises in his relentless efforts in the fight against Boko Haram. “Let use our intelligence to ensure there is peace”.
On his part the “Interim” Section President Gerard Ngala in a very short speech promised that the process was to be peaceful in Donga Mantung Division. “We know the text is very clear-we will follow the text” Gerard concluded.
Matters Arising
The guidelines as to who should contest for the position of section President remains a cause for concern in the Division. Yet, Hon. Njingum many say misfired in his interpretation of President Biya’s text on who is qualified to contest for section President and who is not. Whether it was an aberration or error, the decision we gathered may back-fire like the case in Santa. Notwithstanding, the race for the position of section President could be ugly in some sections in Donga Mantung Mantung Division.
Nwa:  Fire for Fire between Hon. Mbucksek and Dr. Ngomfe
Dr. Ngomfe waiting spite fire
It is now clear that the incumbent CPDM Section President for Nwa, Hon. Mbucksek will clash with his mayor Dr. Ngomfe Loma David in the polls. This is so because attempts by Hon. Njingum for Nwa to produce a consensus list flopped. According to what we gathered, Dr. Ngomfe vowed that if that were to happen, he should take the lead given that party text provides the older. Ngomfe we gathered had dropped the idea of sponsoring Pastor Demien and decided to take the bull by the horns. Hon. Mbucksek we learnt has also vowed that the exercise will determine as to who is who in Nwa. Whether he is the boss or its Ngomfe? It is feared the exercise may turn confrontational given the tension on both sides. Simon Tamfu who is heading the Central Committee team to Nwa is expected to be very tactful in validating voters given that CPDM cards came to that section through varied means. This is likely to be a hot potato if care is not taken.
Ako: Kuta versus Lower Mbembe as Hon. Ntoi Imposes Son
Venia Ernest, the outgoing YCPDM President has stood his grounds
Ntoi Eugene: To make or marr
against the Kuta domination. Yet Ernest aware of the fact that he was tricked by Hon. Abe Michael in his game plan is reported to have also vowed that Ntoi Eugene will only crush him at the polls not through influence. However, Hon. JK Ntoi is quoted to have said that Kuta and Upper Mbembe are in support of his son as section President and nothing would stop him from winning. Yet Ntoi Eugene’s eligibility is being put to question by pro Venia Ernest. At Press time, it is aired that the unexpected is likely to happen in Ako. Adamu Musa, the Yali Boy is head of the Central Committee to Ako and he is expected to reconcile the tension between Lower Mbembe and the Kuta area if not it may pour for the CPDM in Ako for once and for all.
Ndu: Blackmailers Bounce Back, Backtrack
Abdou Borno: Facing detractor
Donga Mantung II Section Ndu is potty in intrigues. This is the characteristics of the politics in Mbum land with variation in who is doing what and for what. Abdou Borno Kamfon was the early bird and since early birds supposedly usually eat the fattest worms, influence peddlers we gathered have jumped in at the last minute on grounds that he was never an exco member in Donga Mantung II. Pro Borno are pointing accusing fingers at the CPDM old guards. Yet another controversy is that the outgoing youth President John Ndi Ngala, may resign from the reorganizing committee for an elective position. The Eye is aware that this was a calculated move to frustrate his attempts to becoming section President. The outgoing Section President, it is alleged may spring surprises in Ndu. Loyalists to Hon. Kwalar see no reason why he should not be given that privilege to always be remembered as Section President. Dr. Mpoche Kisito, is the man to lead the Central Committee team to Ndu. Aware of the political intrigues, he is expected to be tactful given that petitions we gathered have already been prepared and would be lodged the soonest possible.
Nkambe: Set for One Man Show
Kila Godlove: Eyeing YCPDM
Ever since the present Mayor of Nkambe, Ngabir Paul Bantar doled out the position of Section President from his pocket and handed to Gerard Ngala, (he, Gerard) became “interim” section President on a platform with no concrete definition. With the reorganization of basic organs in the offing, it is believed that if “interims” were taken care of by the text, Gerard Ngala will surely be the lone candidate. Yet skeptics at the Central Committee have been wondering whether such a gimmick was authenticated. However, caught in the CPDM web is Kila Godlove, the dynamic young man who rightly or wrongly was named in the reorganizing team for Nkambe whereas he has been aspiring for the post of YCPDM President. This, it is alleged was a calculated plan to deprive him from contesting given that per the last decision by the SG, Jean Nkwete, any candidate whose resignation letter is not endorsed by the Secretary General would be disqualified. Ngi Christopher is known to be strict yet would have to interpret the text well if not he would be hooked in the gimmicks.
Misaje: Consensus Imposed
Babayo: Eyeing YCPDM
The 2007 scenario may not happen in Misaje. This is so because allegedly a certain Pa Nyako has been tipped as the lone candidate for the post of Section President. The incumbent, Sammy Mgbatta following the gentleman agreement will not contest. Yet fears abound that the Nkenda factor may spring surprises to declare a candidate for the position of Section President. Abubakar Babayo from Dumbu we gathered is likely to win the position of YCPDM. Having resigned from the SDF recently, he is one of the major contenders for the post. Allegedly, some CPDM militants are against the fact that Babayo should contest with the text favours him. A school of thought holds that Dr. Fuh Calistus’ decision for a consensus list maybe challenged for a imminent clash pros and cons. Yerima Peter, is the head of the CPDM commission to Misaje, and he is expected to validate all the candidates without fear or favour.

Whether We Defeat Boko Haram or Not, I Won't Resign by December - President Buhari

In an interview with Al Jazeera, President Buhari says he would make a deal with armed group for the release of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls.

During a chat with Al Jazeera’s Up Front programme, President Muhammadu Buhari has reiterated his pledge to route out Boko Haram insurgents by the end of this year, but declared that he will not resign from office if the promise is not achieved as he would rather 'stay and fight it out.'

The president expressed his readiness to negotiate with the insurgents to secure the release of the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls, but noted that "They have to prove to us that they are alive, they are well, and then we can negotiate with them. We said it and we meant it. If we are satisfied that the girls are alive," he added.
When asked if he would offer financial payments or release a prisoner to Boko Haram in return for the girls, he said; "It depends on the negotiations with the leadership of Boko Haram."
While restating the resolve of his government to defeat Boko Haram by the end of 2015, the President said; "As soon as the rainy season comes (to an end), which is by the end of the year. Boko Haram will virtually be out of their main stronghold and that will be the end of it.  Attacks by Boko Haram on townships, on military installations, will certainly stop."
He went on to deny seeing the Amnesty International report from June 2015, 'Nigeria: Stars on their shoulders: Blood on their hands', in which the human-rights group documented abuses, torture and unlawful killings by the Nigerian armed forces and urged the government to prosecute a group of officers and senior commanders.
"I haven’t received that report personally. If I get those documents… I assure you that I will take action as Commander in Chief."
Speaking on the statement credited to him in the past where he expressed for 'the total implementation of the sharia in the country,' Buhari pointed out that "Nigerian law does not allow for so-called sharia punishments, such as stonings and amputations", adding, "I cannot change it. I haven’t been voted by [a] majority of Nigerians to change Nigerian constitution."
On his record as a military dictator in the mid-1980s, and the alleged human-rights abuses which occurred under his watch, he said: "If there is any injustice that can be proved against me when I was there, I will gladly apologize."

Nigerian Schoolgirl Speaks to British House of Lords on Ordeal With Terrorist Group Boko Haram

15-year-old Victoria Yohanna has been given audience by the British House of Lords to speak ofn her experiences with Boko Haram.
Victoria Yohanna

Victoria is one of the few lucky people to escape the clutches of the men who abducted her and 400 and something other girls, who were taken prisoner during an attack by a Boko Haram raiding party on the North-East Nigerian town of Baga on the shores of Lake Chad in January.
Their captor ordered them to ‘convert to Islam or die’, and tried to marry them off as bush-wives to Boko Haram fighters. Victoria, who managed to escape, described her experiences to an audience at the House of Lords at an event to mark the launch of a major new report on the persecution of Christians worldwide. It was compiled by the charity Aid to the Church in need.
It is believed to be the first time that one of Boko Haram’s thousands of schoolgirl victims had travelled to Britain to give evidence about their ordeal. The group’s use of women as chattels and sex-slaves gained worldwide attention last year when it kidnapped more than 200 schoolgirls from the North-east Nigerian town of Chibok, most of whom are still missing.
The report highlighted the plight of Christians in both Africa and the Middle East in the face of murderous campaigns by Islamic extremists.
It said that Africa’s Christian community – one of the few where the church is still thriving worldwide – is now under serious threat thanks to Boko Haram in Nigeria and al-Shabaab in Kenya.
It also warned that if the current flight of Christians from Iraq continues at its current pace, the country could have no Christians left in five years time.
Speaking to the London-based Telegraph newspaper ahead of the report’s launch, Victoria told how she was seized along with her mother and five siblings when Boko Haram attacked Baga just after New Year. The raiding party had split into three separate groups of “shooters, looters and recruiters” – the first to fight Nigerian troops, the second to rob local banks and shops, and the third to kidnap new recruits for the “caliphate”.
“We heard shooting and the sound of bombs in the early hours of the morning, and at first I thought it was the Nigerian army trying to protect us,” she said. “Then I realised it was Boko Haram. Those Boko Haram members whose duty is to take women and children for their caliphate took our entire family and made us walk on foot to one of their camps.”
En route, she said, she saw numerous corpses of people who had been killed and beheaded by the group, with bullet cases “scattered like raindrops” everywhere.
She then spent two weeks at a makeshift Boko Haram camp on the outskirts of Baga, which by then was completely in the militants’ hands.
“Every morning they took the hostages for training at Islamic school. They would say the Koran is the religion God had for you,” she added.
Victoria said she was able to fool the militants into thinking she was a Muslim by pretending to perform the “buta”, a Hausa word that describes the ritual ablution that Muslims perform before prayer. There were Muslim captives among the hostages who knew she was a Christian but they chose not to tell the militants, she said.
She and the rest of her family eventually escaped one night when the fighters went out to kidnap more people. “I knew what had happened to the Chibok schoolgirls and was very scared,” she added. “Were it not for God we would probably all be dead by now.”
Victoria has been accompanied to the UK by Father Gideon Obasogie, a priest in the city of Maiduguri, where she is now living.
He said that when he had first met her, she found it impossible to relate her ordeal without breaking down in tears. “The church has been trying to organise counselling sessions for these victims of Boko Haram,” he said. “Simply offering them confessional is not enough.”

U.S. Soldiers, Drones to Arrive Cameroon Soon Obama Says

U.S. President Barack Obama delivers remarks at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 38th Annual Awards Gala
Obama
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States is sending 300 U.S. troops, along with surveillance drones, to Cameroon to bolster a West African effort to counter the Nigerian militant Islamist group Boko Haram, U.S. officials said on Wednesday.
In a notification to Congress, President Barack Obama said an advance force of about 90 military personnel began deploying on Monday to Cameroon, with the consent of the Yaounde government.
The troops will "conduct airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations in the region," Obama said. "These forces are equipped with weapons for the purpose of providing their own force protection and security, and they will remain in Cameroon until their support is no longer needed."
U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the troops would provide intelligence to a multi-national task force being set up to fight Boko Haram and composed of troops from Nigeria, Niger, Cameroon, Chad and Benin.
Boko Haram, which wants to carve out an Islamist caliphate and has allied itself to Islamic State, earlier this year stepped up cross-border attacks on Nigeria's neighbors.
On Sunday, two female suicide bombers killed nine people in the town of Mora in Cameroon's Far North region, employing a tactic increasingly favored by Boko Haram.
The American officials said the U.S. soldiers would deploy initially to the city of Garoua in northern Cameroon, not far from the Nigerian border. The force will include Predator drones for surveillance, they said.
The White House said the move was not in response to any changed assessment of threat in the region.
The United States has no combat troops in Africa, but has been increasing support to allies in the region battling Boko Haram.

Clash Between Traditionalists and Christians Leaves Four in Critical Conditions-See Shocking pics

An atmosphere of uncertainty looms in Baba I village (Ngoketunjia Division) following last Sunday October 11, 2015 clash between four traditionalists and Christians of Union Eglise Baptiste du Cameroun. According to what we gathered the long accumulated grievances exploded last Sunday when four traditionalists (perhaps members of the “ngumba”) stormed the church premises to express their disapproval on certain practices. Matters came to a head when the encounter generated into a bloody confrontation. Sources say the over 50 members of the congregation administered the four men snake beating that almost kicked out the ghost out of them.

The most barbaric side of it happened when three of them were sprinkled with acid in the eyes. Evacuated and placed under intensive medical care in Bafoussam, reports say one of them may lose all his two eyes while two others may lost one eye each. One of them is also reported to have sustained a very delicate injury on the head. However, Moh and Tantidi were reported among the four who have been evacuated to Bafoussam.
When this reporter visited Union Eglise Baptiste du Cameroon, the church doors were sealed. Ashes of some mattresses and objects that were set on fire were still visible at the church entrance. It is alleged that of the items destroys were packages of used and unused condoms. However all attempts to get to the pastor of the church to get his own side of the story were not fruitful.
Allegations are rife at that the incident erupted from the fact that the church has been attacking traditional institutions. Another school of thought holds that ever since that church entered Baba I, thievery and prostitution is on the rise. (To be continued as well continue to dig into the incident)

Lawmaker's Daughter Fakes Kidnap to Extort Money From Father

Daughter of Hon. Edionwele, representing Esan Constituency, Edo State, pushed her luck to the limit by faking her abduction with her boyfriend in Abuja thereby throwing her family into a state of panic before eventual arrest.

It was like a scene in a comic movie as the supposedly kidnapped 24-year-old daughter of Hon. Edionwele, representing Esan Constituency,  Edo State, Jessica, was found right in the bossom of her boyfriend in Lugbe, an outskirt of Federal Capital Territory,  Abuja, Sunday evening by policemen from the command.
Jessica, last Wednesday was reported to have left Ibadan, Oyo State,  where she was serving, for Lagos to board an aircraft to Abuja. She was said to have landed Abuja safely but took an airport taxi that drove her away to an unknown destination.
While family and friends were terribly worried for what would have befallen the young lady, she allegedly gave her father’s telephone number to her supposed ‘abductor’, who claimed that if the honourable wanted her daughter back alive should pay a ransom.
FCT Police was contacted  and they went in search of the ‘missing lady’. However, yesterday evening, the search yielded the desired fruit. Not only that Jessica was found,  her abductor was also arrested.
THISDAY reliably gathered that Jessica collaborated with her boyfriend to extort money from her father by feigning abduction. According to a police source, Jessica on Wednesday,  left Abuja airport to her boyfriend’s house in Amac, Lugbe, where they both agreed to get money from the honourable through the story of kidnap.
“We got the information of where she was hiding from someone who had seen Jessica in the neighborhood and afterwards alerted the police, and both of them were seen and arrested in Lugbe”,
the source said.
When contacted on phone, the FCT spokesperson,  Anjuguri Manza, said he was not briefed on the case. The reason behind the lady's action is yet to be ascertained as she was strongly loved by her father as well as family members.
The couple is currently being grilled by the police and there is a high possibility of the case reaching the court except the family opts to settle it out the confines of the law.

WICUDA Recycles EXCO at Weekend

Shey Henry

The Wimbum Cultural and Development Association-WICUDA has just emerged from the doldrums. Surprising, WICUDA national which many thought had sank into a comma held its elective General Assembly in Nkambe at weekend in Nkambe. After having hibernated with the Wimbum Cultural Festival which started and ended over the internet, much is being awaited as December draws nearer. Aware of the fact the executive was hooked by the troublesome tendency and political hatred that has of late characterized “Nwembum”, the old executive was just recycled. Shey Henry was again given trust to break the troublesome myth. He will be assisted by Chris Njowe while Manjong Sixtus was reconfirmed as Secretary General of WICUDA.
As a matter of principle, the old executive was completely recycled. However, traditional rulers who took the pains to attend this year’s elective general assembly expressed disgust over the clannish tendencies in Mbum land. What is however pathetic is that traditional rulers who are supposedly custodians of tradition want that aspect of tradition completely ignored. They claim the clans have divided the Wimbum (Nwembum) and not unite. Notwithstanding, WICUDA issued a clarion call for collective efforts and also called on the villages without fons to make sure that the palaces comeback to life. In order to collective see that all artifacts in Mbum land are not burnt as has being the case in some areas, WICUDA general assembly endorsed a project to construct a museum in Nkambe. This we gathered will rescue artifacts from the pangs of those who have been advocating that all be set on fire.

Shock of Titans in Menchum I CPDM as Wallang, Dighanbong, Chou Cyprian Declare Candidatures

Wum is gathering momentum as Hon. Wallang Richard, Dighanbong Anthony and ChoU Cyprian have all declared for the position of Section President of the CPDM in Menchum I. The three contenders are considered as CPDM heavyweights in Aghem land have for once disagreed to come to a compromise.

Hon. Wallang Richard is the Member of Parliament for Menchum South (Wum and Benakuma) while Dihangbong is the mayor of Wum and Chou Cyprian is CPDM resource person. Sources say this is the first time that the three will clash at the polls. However, popular opinion in Wum is diversified as to who will win the post of section President. Majority of the youths we gathered are in favour of Chou Cyprian while Dighanbong has the blessing of Aghem fons. Hon. Wallang’s candidature on the other side is supported by the old guards. Contrary to speculations that Aghem would come up with a consensus candidate, the three contenders are bent of making the difference at the polls.
Even before this happened, analysts surmised that those in elective positions would have allowed Chou Cyprian yet this has been ignored. It is therefore believed that the exercise is necessary so as to streamline the CPDM kingpin in Aghem. Aware of what may crop up, the CPDM has tactfully handed the task to oversee the election process to H.E Ama Tutu Muna is head of the election Commission to Menchum. Yet this is not enough given the caliber of candidates. The three contenders we gathered are actually bulldozing in the field ahead of the official launching on Monday.
