Thousands Pay Last Homage to Makfu Magdalene Njuh Ngayi The The Last Matriarch of Bondudu (PhotoNews)

Makfu Magdalene Njuh Ngayi, who passed unto eternity on July 29, 2015 at about 5:40 am, has been laid to eternal rest in Tabenken at the Catholic Church Cemetery. Preaching during the funeral mass, the officiating Reverend Fathers while drawing inspiration from the Book of Isaiah 25:6-9 and letter of St. Paul to the Romans told mourners that “The Lord will destroy death forever and “with God on your side, who can be against us” and “since God did not spare his own son, but gave him up to benefit us all, we may be certain, after such a gift, that he will not refuse anything he can give”.
At 110 years, Makfu Magdalene Njuh Ngayi, was the oldest of the Bondudu family (Biyabi quarter) of Tabenken. Given her social interaction, commitment in the Word of God, thousands stormed the Tabenken Catholic Church to pay their last respect to the one who controlled and headed one of the largest families. August 15 was gray and blustery as steady stream of family luminaries turned out from far and near, some by limousine, others by okada. Yet they all arrived safely to say adieu to Makfu. The Senior Divisional Officer for Donga Mantung Division, Ngone Ndodemesape Bernard, the Divisional Officer for Nkambe, Abdou Abdouraman, Hon. Banadzem, Hon. Njong Evaristus, Hon. Esther Ngala, Hon. Yoyo, Bunyui Emmanuel-Mayor of Ndu, Martin Fon Yembe-1st Deputy mayor of Ndu, were amongst the VIPs buried in the crowd of mourners.
All those who knew Makfu Magdalene Njuh Ngayi, were there but not only for a moment— had it almost seemed that Makfu had been reborn. The truth, though, is that she was a woman of the people reasons why all those who matter came to say a final goodbye. From the eulogies presented by close family members, nothing would spare one to understand how useful Makfu Magdalene Njuh Ngayi, was. The plead to the Almighty God in the bidding prayers by Makfu grandsons and daughters was that “the soul of late Makfu Magdalene Njuh Ngayi, that God may be merciful in judging her by granting her eternal rest in his heavenly kingdom” and that“for the Ngayi’s and Gwei’s families” God should give them comfort.
Mary Awudu says, "Mother passed away peacefully.”She had a long and extraordinary life, and we loved her deeply. She was the most beautiful rose of all." To many of course, Makfu Magdalene Njuh was also the queen mother of wisdom, the founder of a dynasty that had known giddy triumph. With her late husband Pa Catechist Ngayi aka Pa Teacher Simon they had raised a boisterous "lovely" family. She lived to see her son In-law Hon. Awudu Mbaya Cyprian climb the ladder of fame brilliantly (Taah Kwee), seen right down to her great grand children and watched her daughter (Mary Awudu) risen to fabulous public speaker. That life began in 1915, a few months after the end of the World War. Born into a Christian family, Makfu was formidable women says Cajetan. During her life the values that were stressed were family hood. Meanwhile, Makfu, who could be described as a strict disciplinarian, took charge of the family after the demise of the husband. "Makfu knew this day was coming, "but she did not dread it. She accepted and even welcomed it—not as a leaving, but as a returning. She has gone to God. And at this moment she is happily presiding at a heavenly table with her husband. She is home”, says Gwei Peter Ngayi, Police Inspector.
Her last daughter, Ngayi Sama Celestine Mukwep says though she would miss her mother, “I still have the feelings that you will continue to guide and protect us”.

The Lord Mayor of Nwa Council is Not the CPDM Party-Section President Warns

Hon. Mbucksek addressing the crowd at Sabongari
Politics, it is admitted is a means to an end; but it is not necessarily that the end must be a groveling one. Indeed, the value of a politician must be determined, for the most part, by the greatness of its aim and the largeness of the result accomplished. Whenever politics goes with tangible results, it will not fail to be useful if handled by people with character and conscience because it extensiveness and non-interventionist will impact people positively. The CPDM party in Nwa sub Division is very far from being exemplary. This is so due to the conflict that has torn the party into pieces. That pathetic scenario resurfaced at the Mbaw Plain where the Hon. Genesis Mbucksek, the Member of Parliament for Nwa who doubles as Section President for Donga Mantung V (Nwa) warned the population not to fall prey to political tricksters whose aim is to tear the CPDM apart. Hon. Genesis Mbucksek opened the can of worms at Sabongari, Ngu and Nguri on August 10 and 11, 2015 while on a Parliamentary tour. “Anyone who is militant of the Council should know that government has not yet legalized the Nwa Council party”, he cautioned. Hon. Mbucksek hammered that the Nwa council has been transformed into an illegal political party by its present Mayor, Dr. Ngomfe Loma David who is burning with the desire to replace him at the helm of the party. “Today it is as if the council is a political party with the mayor as leader and I am the Section President of another party. Some people think they are above the law, but let me remind you that there is party discipline”, Hon. Mbucksek continued. “We should not chop and broke the pot” he insisted.

The Sub Section President who welcomed the MP and entourage to Sabongari exploded in a two sentence speech, wondering why the Mayor and the MP cannot agree on common issues. Ndukong Samuel lamented that the Donga Mantung V Section of the CPDM (Nwa) has been transformed into a sinkhole for character assassination. “Why is it that the MP is going this direction and the Mayor the other direction”, he questioned.
Harping on the conflict that is tearing the CPDM apart, Hon. Mbucksek revealed that in 2002, he personally brought in Dr. Ngomfe into the Section on his list, “I didn’t know I was bringing in someone to come and destroy party”. According to the MP, he was embarrassed that when (he) requested support from the Divisional Officer to organized community work on the Sabongari-Nwa road, and the mayor instead went to the media to castigate them as perpetrators of modern slavery. “Hundreds of millions are sent to the council every year and right now our roads have moved from worse to worst. If the council has failed in solving road problems, we should not sit and fold our hands” he emphasized. He questioned what the council is doing with the money from the Ministry of Public Works to the point that roads in Nwa council area are in a deplorable state of nature. “Is this really the spirit of the CPDM”, he questioned.
Enter Tumasang Walters Ngang, DO for Nwa
The Divisional Officer for Nwa who accompanied the MP during the tour was categorical that “a house that is divided amongst itself can never stand”. He advised the population to respect legality. Harping on the confusion in Nwa, he said that it has reach the level that some people think they can fight the administration. Tumasang Walters Ngang used the opportunity to caution the population on the dreaded Boko Haram sect. He told the people of the Mbaw plain that they should report any suspect or strange person spotted in their vicinity to the administration, traditional ruler and or forces of law and order.  “Shine your eyes” he argued. Justifying his presence in the MP’s entourage, the DO said that the development of any area lies in the hands of the politician reasons why he decided to move with the MP. According to Tamasang Walters, he is for the general good of the population and not there to protect the interest of few individuals. The development of this area lies in the hands of the mayor and if you compare the amount that is given to the council and the FCFA 8million given to the MP, you will understand who is doing what and with what means.
Micro Project Grants
Before handing over financial support to the beneficiaries, Hon. Mbucksek said that as the hunting dog for the people of Nwa, his job is to lobby for development projects in Yaounde. He cited the Nwa Rural Electrification Project, the construction of the bridge at Ntem, construction of classrooms, administrative block and VIP toilets at GTC Ngu, benches etc.. He also handed financial support to Shi and Lih communities to acquire basic tool to maintain their road. Before handing the support he observed that though the council sees it as modern slavery, he cannot fold his hands to see the population suffering. “It is the job of the council to develop the roads but since they have failed, we must carry out the work using hand tools. Remember our fathers dug the road from Kumbo through Ndu with their hands”.  At Ngu and Nguri, the MP also donated cash to the community to work on the roads leading to the farms. He also called on the PTA of GS Ngu to recruit a teacher who will be paid by him. He will in his third and last lap visit Nwanti and Kort where he will donate bundles of zinc and cement to the communities.
Stakes/Implications
It is alleged that the present political scene in Nwa is intensely progressive but practically, it has some self-centered individuals who want to set confusion, we gathered. According to confidential sources, some CPDM militants upon entering into the political scene in Nwa are said to have a hop skip-and-jump-start ambitions that is gradually tearing the CPDM in particles. The Eye gathered that some of these militants rush from one area to another with a suddenness that would have taken away the breath of an ancestor. Without any conviction that it was through moderation that the party emerged victorious since 2002, everyone seems blinded that this virtue seem unknown. It is also aired that the party has been transformed into a game of the mastiff with gigantic schemes that may kill the party. Yet we gathered that instead of working in a group with unsparing energy to accomplish large results, some militants pass off the stage of action like the vanishing of a meteor, to make room for breathless obnoxious plans pressing close upon the heels of their party comrades.
The most pathetic thing is that in the mess, a man succeeds or fails in a moment and in the next is forgotten, in the hurry and bustle of new excitement. The first is forgotten even though the results are unbeaten. And political pundits have been wondering whether the rushing  mad haste politics in Nwa is not at fever-heat, with no relaxation, no rest, no enjoyments because tribalism and clannish tendencies have taken politicians hostage. Whatever else it is, public opinion in Nwa holds that in these days any changes should not be to settle political scores but must be conducive to a beneficial result. It must have a distinctly practically bearing upon the duties of one's vocation because ever since Hon. Genesis Mbucksek was elected Section President, the CPDM results have being a mark of improvement reasons why “we are proud to show that our section President produced the best practical results since 2002” says one militant. “Another fon on his part is of the opinion that the mayor should remain mayor, while the MP who is head of the party plays his role. The crying from grassroot militants’ demand men who can accomplish results easily and quickly. However, field testimonies from militants are bound that Hon. Mbucksek has been up to the task giving that he has been instrumental both in building the party at the grassroots and made the people of Nwa to have a taste of Parliamentary goodies.

Nigeria is Not a Rich Country - President Buhari Stresses

President Muhammadu Buhari has said that statement that Nigeria is a rich country is an exageration because all the indices and parameters of evaluating a rich country such as economic advancement, improved social services were lacking.
He however enjoined the Nigerian elites to be prepared to make sacrifice to rescue the country.
The president spoke when he received the outgoing President of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Dr. Donald Kaberuka and other officials of the bank.
He said the privileged and influential citizens clearly have to do more now than in the past to help the country deal successfully with its economic and security problems.
He said: “With the shock of falling oil prices, lack of revenues, and insecurity, the Nigerian elites must now wake up and provide the right guidance in their communities, and also lead the economy on the right path more than they used to do”.

Mayor Puts Prof. Edukat, UBa Officials to Task, Threatens to Lead Street Protest Against University of Bamenda

Tanjong Martin: Mayor of Tubah Council
The mayor of Tubah Council has declared that if the Faculty of Arts of the University of Bamenda doesn’t go functional this academic year, he will personally lead the population to the street to express their disgust on the nonchalant nature of UBa officials. Tanjong Martin Meshongong made the sweeping statement on August 8, during a Press Briefing on topical issues affecting the Tubah municipality. Talking to journalists in the Conference Hall of the Tubah council, Tanjong Martin decried that fact that University of Bamenda officials are not putting into use existing structures. According to Tanjong Martin, the Tubah council constructed two classrooms at CAST Bambili but the classrooms are not being used. He debunked unnecessary assertions by UBa officials that there are no structures to host such an important Faculty. It should however be recalled that two months ago, ordered some students who were on the waiting list of Higher Institute of Transport-HiTL to quit campus against Minister Fame Ndongo’s instructions. Yet Prof. Tafah Edukat is quoted to have said that the students could not be absorbed due lack of space. Tongues are still waging as to why UBa officials decided to frustrate the students.

Topical Issues Affecting the Municipality
Harping on the current security situation, Mayor Tanjong said that his municipality is leaving no stone unturned. He said though there is an influx of students in his municipality, the council has adopted a strategy to work with the population to ensure the safety of all. He said all landlords have been tasked to identify all their tenants and even report the presence of any strange face. Hawking in the municipality, he added has been banned and no student is allowed to habour strangers while loading of vehicles is done only at identified parks to ensure vigorous checks.
On the crisis between the Tubah Council and Bamenda III Council, Mayor Tanjong said it is regrettable that the Bamenda III council decided to invade seven public offices for reasons unknown to his council. He further disclosed that the premises in question are part of the property of the defunct South Eastern Federation council (which was made up of Bui, Ngoketunjia, Bamenda I, II, Bafut and Tubah) of the old day Bamenda Province. He wondered how Bamenda III could claim ownership over these assets. “The Tubah council he added could have its assets in other municipality”, the mayor emphasized. He described the act as ignorance and added that he will seek redress given that over 70 pensioners are being paid by the Tubah council. He however advised the Bamenda III council to seek it share of assets from the defunct Bamenda Urban council and not Tubah.

Shufai Njilahngotong Quits Active Politics: Here are the Stakes

Shufai Njilahngotong

Shufai Njilahngotong, formerly a frontline militant of the CPDM (Donga Mantung II Section Ndu) has decided to quit politics. He was an Executive member of the Section and had also played a very vital role for the growth of the party. The decision was made public by his son, Tata Kwawi Mbinglo. In the declaration he states that “In view to keep a lasting legacy and set an example for other traditional rulers in Cameroon to emulate, My Dad Shufai Njilahngotong, has officially announced his Decision to stay away from Frontline politics so as to objectively rule his people as a God chosen leader. This decision comes up at a time when many people expected otherwise”. Shufai Njilahngotong it should be noted hail from Fuh-Ndu. He is also the Divisional Delegate of Transport for Meme Division, in the South West Region.
Tongues are still waging in Ndu as to why he decided to quit politics. Many of his supporters who were expecting to see him as one of the contenders for the position of Section President are yet to recover from the shock. However, youths all over have described his quitting active politics as gentle move to stay away from partisan politics. Expressionists are of the opinion that his decision could be linked to the politics of hatred that is chopping and dividing elite(s) of Donga Mantung Division. The stakes are really very high as his quitting politics is likely to impact the party. This is so given that he was a political strategist and a master-planner in politics of proximity.

Who is Shufai Njilahngotong
Njila Isaiah Tata aka Shufai Njilangotong is a multifaceted. He is a traditionalist, a village head, writer-musician and astute administrator has always stood against political tension and intrigues taking the minds of some politicians and has quite often decried the politics of acrimony, blackmail and hatred that characterizes politics in Donga Mantung Division in the North West Region because some people have transformed the game of politics into a sinkhole for character assassination. Njila Isaiah Tata who by the Mbum tradition was enthroned village head for Fuh in Ndu as per costume and tradition had to be called Shufai Njilangotong. Besides, he was Donga Mantung Divisional Delegate for Secondary Education where he was admired for doing uncommon things in a very common way, and an educationist who has served as principal for over 16 years before being catapulted to the position of delegate. In 2008, Njila Isaiah Tata was distinguished by Donga Mantung Association of Journalists-DOMAJ as the All Best Principal again All Round Best Divisional Delegate by The Eye Newspaper in 2011 Achievement Award. He later moved to the Ministry of Transport, where he is presently Divisional Delegate for Transport in Meme Division of the South West Region.  When makes him different from others is that ever since he joined politics, his style was very singular from the usual politics of hatred, acrimony, bitterness and blackmail that has characterized Donga Mantung politicians.
He has been described as a man of additional qualities. Unlike others he always busy round the clock. As a seasoned administrator, he believes like Immanuel Kant that “the more we are busy, the more we feel we are alive and contributing for the welfare of others”. His enlightening background coupled with his dedication to be perfect has made her to transform the principle of edification for work into the principle of teaching through work. As a Christian Baptist Christian, Njila Isaiah believes like Martin Luther King that “working is praying”.
