As the scrambling and
positioning for senate moves into a higher gear this week, here are some of the
personalities in the North West and South West Regions who could be senators.
Even though there is just March 17 , 2013 left for senatorial candidates to
declare their candidatures to contest in the elections, hopes are not yet lost
for some who could be appointed by a Presidential Decree since the law gives
the head of state the prerogative to appoint 3 senators per region. By March
12, the final list of substantives and alternates would have been finalized and
submitted to ELECAM for publication. Yet things have been complicated for some
personalities. The law doesn’t permit the accumulation of functions. And as
such Mayors, Parliamentarians, General Managers, in fact any election or
appointed official would have to resign before contesting in the elections. And
if appointed, the personality will have to resign from his or her former position.
However here are the list of personalities in the North West and South West
Regions who could make good senators.
